Abstract

Background: A traffic accident is a major factor of death of young people, especially in males, and those with physical disabilities. Although there was a decrease of the number of traffic accidents in 2014 (1,094 accidents) compared to a previous year (1,041 accidents), however it still remains high.   Objective: This study aimed to identify the relationship of safe riding knowledge, perception about danger, and safe riding behavior in high school students in Samarinda City, Indonesia.Methods: The study employed a survey with cross sectional approach in 315 students. Data were collected using questionnaires to measure safe riding knowledge, perception about danger, and safe riding behavior. Data were analyzed using Chi square with α .05.Results: The results showed that there was a significant relationship of safe riding knowledge, perception of danger, and safe riding behavior in high school students (p <.05).Conclusion: This finding provides the insights to reduce traffic accidents in high school students increasing the knowledge and perception of safe riding by highlighting the involvement of parents, teachers and related institutions.

Abstract

Penderita malaria di Kelurahan Tanah Merah Kecamatan Samarinda utara dengan proporsi responden yang tidak ada memiliki atau terdapat pemanfaatan insect proof secara lengkap yaitu sebesar 80.6%, dibandingkan dengan kondisi lengkap yakni sebesar 19.4%. Solusi iptek bagi masyarakat/IbM yang ditawarkan pada masyarakat yang berisiko meliputi metode kegiatan pengelolaan breeding pleace, resting place dan insect proof. Pada pelaksanaan intervensi program pada 31 breeding place (100%) dan 23 potensi insect proof dan atau resting proof rumah pada di RT 23 dan 09 dan pasca intervensi hasil observasi data prevalensi malaria tidak ada kasus baru atau angka kasus baru 0%. Program IbM yang bertumpu pada kegiatan perbaikan breeding place, resting place dan insect proof dapat diperluas dalam target jangkauan 2 KM kawasan kasus malaria dan melibatkan pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam kelanjutan program pengamdian pada masyarakat.

Abstract

Background : The risk of Pb contamination in urban drinking water sources can stem from raw water contamination, suboptimal water treatment systems, and limited water source distribution. Objective : This study aims to predict cancer and non-cancer risks from the impacts of consuming Pb-contaminated drinking water sources. Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : This study used an environmental health analysis method with a quantitative approach. In addition to measuring Pb in household-based drinking water sources, the lead was analyzed using an Atomic Absorbed Spectrometer (AAS). Results : The results of Pb measurements in household of community in Loabakung Samarinda City with a concentration level between 0.001-0.045 mg/L. The analysis results showed a non- carcinogenic and carcinogenic risk level of 67% (78) of respondents at non-carcinogenic risk and 84.5% (98) at carcinogenic risk Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Reducing the source of Pb pollutants in the raw water for water processing in the city of Samarinda is very necessary. And replacing distribution pipes that still have lead in household flows is a necessity in holistic environmental risk management

Abstract

The air pollution in the garbage dump gave the bad effect for the environmental health , NH3, H2S and the other polluted gases were the causes of air pollution that could give the bad effect for health, especially respiratory disorders. The garbage dump of bukit pinang was located in samarinda and still used open dumping method that could cause environmental pollution. Research design used cross sectional approach. The sample of NH3 and H2S was taken at 3 points and there were 34 respondents that were chosen using purposive sampling. Data collection included in the measurement of NH3 and H2S, interview, and observation of respiratory disorders. Data analysis used t-independent test with 95% of confidence level.Result of the study showed that the concentration of NH3 and H2S at garbage dump of Bukit Pinang at sample points I, II, and III was still under quality standard. Result of T - Independent showed that there was relationship among concentration of NH3 (?-value= 0,005), concentration H2S (?-value=0,042), exposure period of NH3 and H2S (?-value=0,000), and Risk Quotient NH3 (?-value=0,000), H2S (?-value=0,000) with the respiratory disorders of the people around the garbage dump of  bukit pinang. Result of Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no relationship between exposure frequency of NH3 and H2S (?-value=0,284) with the respiratory disorders of the people around the garbage dump of bukit pinang

Abstract

Tercemarnya udara di sekitar TPA menyebabkan kesehatan lingkungan terganggu, gas NH3, H2S dan gas pencemar lainnya adalah zat pencemar udara di TPAS yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan, terutama meningkatkan gangguan pernapasan. TPAS Bukit Pinang merupakan  TPAS  yang  terdapat  di  Kota Samarinda dan  masih  menggunakan  metode  open dumping yang dapat mengakibatkan pencemaran lingkungan.Desain penelitian dengan pendekatan cross-sectional.3 titik pengambilan sampel NH3 dan H2S dan responden sebanyak 34 orang yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling.Analisis data menggunakan Uji T - Independen dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi NH3 dan H2S di TPA Sampah Bukit Pinang pada titik sampel I, II, dan III masih berada dibawah baku mutu. Hasil  uji    T -  Independent  menunjukkan  ada  hubungan  konsentrasi  NH3   (?-value  = 0,005), konsentrasi H2S (?-value = 0,042), lama pajanan NH3  dan H2S (?-value = 0,000), dan Risk Quotient NH3 (?-value = 0,000), H2S (?-value = 0,000) dengan gangguan pernapasan pada penduduk di sekitar TPA Sampah bukit Pinang. Hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan frekuensi pajanan NH3 dan H2S (?-value = 0,284) dengan gangguan pernapasan pada penduduk di sekitar TPA Sampah Bukit Pinang.
