Abstract

This classroom action study dealt with implementing photovoice in teaching speaking to the tenth grade students of SMA (SLUA) Saraswati 1 Denpasar. The purpose of study the student could explain about a picture that showed in the slide show orally. The study have been stated as the following: speaking skill at the tenth grade students of SMA (SLUA) Saraswati 1 Denpasar can be improved through photovoice. This study was conducted in X IPA class that consisted of 36 females and 13 males. These subjects were chosen because faced by the fact that the subjects under study still low in speaking English and lack of confident. It was proved that the mean score of pre-test was 59.18. To enhance the improvement of their speaking skill, the researcher tried to apply photovoice technique. The researcher conducted Cycle I and the results of the data analysis of the reflection were 70.81. Then, the researcher continued the research by conducting the cycle II and the result of the data analysis of reflections in cycle II were 81.02. The finding showed that there was improvement of the students’ scores after the implementing of photovoice technique. In addition, the results of the questionnaire showed that option A was 72.47%, option B was 20.70%, option C was 6.81%, and option D was 0%. From the result of the study, it could be concluded that photovoice technique could improve speaking skill of the tenth grade students of SMA (SLUA) Saraswati 1 Denpasar.

Abstract

Effective communication is an important skill that students must possess, but often students struggle to speak confidently. One of the approaches that has been proven to improve communication skills is Project-Based Learning (PBL). This research aims to analyze the influence of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on improving students' communication skills, particularly in terms of confidence and collaboration skills. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which collects data from 15 reputable journal articles relevant to this topic. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques to evaluate the findings related to the impact of PBL on student communication. The research results show that PBL significantly enhances students' confidence in speaking, interpersonal communication skills, and teamwork collaboration. In addition, the effective implementation of PBL requires good project design, technological support, and the active role of educators in facilitating learning. This study concludes that PBL is an effective approach to enhancing students' communication skills. The implication is that educators need to design relevant communication-based projects and provide adequate support to achieve optimal results.The implication is that educators need to design relevant communication-based projects and provide adequate support to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Meningkatnya penggunaan Internet di dunia khususnya di Indonesia juga berdampak pada model pendidikan di Indonesia yang mulai menerapkan teknologi komputer dan media internet dalam sistemnya. Sebagai pelajar muda, pelajar kini terpaksa menggunakan internet sebagai salah satu fasilitas dalam proses pembelajaran. Berbeda dengan sebagian orang dewasa yang pada umumnya sudah bisa melakukan filter baik buruknya internet, sebaliknya remaja tidak bisa melakukan hal tersebut. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti tertarik untuk menyusun penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana intensitas penggunaan internet di kalangan pelajar di Denpasar. Penelitian ini juga ingin mengetahui apa saja dampak positif dan negatif penggunaan internet. Penelitian ini juga merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dimana pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode teknik non-probability sampling. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan intensitas penggunaan internet siswa berada pada kategori pengguna berat (65,93%). Sebagian besar pelajar merasakan dampak positif dari manfaat internet sebagai media informasi (34,07% manfaat tinggi dan 45,05% manfaat sedang).

Abstract

This research aims to examine discourse components on the dynamics of female stereotype in texts. This research uses data taken from the Narrative text of an English textbook specifically designed for elementary school students in Indonesia. Books are considered a valuable source of scientific inquiry. This research uses a combination of data analysis techniques and field methods, especially by observations and interviews. The data collection strategy used in this research includes the use of questionnaires, interviews, and documentation of language forms contained in narrative texts in textbooks. The findings of this research show there are some aspects of discourse on the dynamics of female representation in students’ texts book, which include microstructure, macrostructure, and superstructure of the text. Microstructure includes grammatical components such as references, substitution, and conjunctions. The macrostructures are contained in context, circumstances, and culture that successfully represent women from different points of view. The superstructure of the text include orientation, complication and resolution. Data analysis reveals the prevalence of female stereotypes as evidenced by micro, macro, and superstructure.
