Abstract

This research entitled “Declarative mood of Ideational Theme in “Exupery’s The Little Prince” (A Functional Grammar Analysis) discusses declarative mood in ideational theme in the position of clause used in novel. The purpose of this research is to analyze declarative mood and to analyze the constituents used in the novel The Little Prince. To analyze the issues, this research uses the theory of mood types: declarative mood by M.A.K Halliday and Christian Matthiessen (2004) as the grand theory while Linda Gerot dan Peter Wignell (1994) as supporting theory. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. Data are taken from the novel The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery. After analyzing the data, it can be concluded that the all data are included into the declarative mood in this research, two data are included into constituent the nominal group as theme, and one data is included include into constituent prepositional phrase as theme in this research.

Abstract

New Media Audiences: Interaction and Fragmentation (Hegemony of Lambe Turah's Instagram Account in Social Media as an Active Audience Maker). In explaining the context of communication, it can be said that the communication process takes place in the context of progress in the era of globalization which has brought various information through technological devices throughout the world which can then influence society as an audience. Trends that exist in the world today are inseparable from the role of communication as a tool used to convey various messages, ideologies and values ​​of life. It cannot be forgotten that every communication process contains a motive behind it as well as the phenomenon of messages received in the form of trends received from social media, including the rise of "online gossiping". Talking about communication, messages and change, people also cannot separate them from the values ​​and culture contained in each message context. The message with multiple purposes include; informing, educating, influencing or entertaining also have an effect in individuals or society.
