Abstract

There has been a long debate when it comes to understanding the meaning of Islam. The proponents of Islam  claim Islam as a religion of peace, while on the other hand, who are mostly Westerners, would dissent this claim by addressing jihad as a violent product of Islam. The Westerners certainly fail to grasp the spirit of peace in Islam because very often their argumentations are based on material events instead of philosophical approach. This paper is an effort to shed light the true meaning of Islam by analyzing it from its philosophical aspects. Literal interpretations are specifically used as a method to analyze texts in the Quran and the Hadith to reveal the etymological, epistemological, and ontological meanings of Islam. Additionally, Max L. Stackhouse’s normativity ethical approach is utilized as a framework to analyze the meaning of Islam from its textual and contextual doctrines. Three prominent concepts (true-false, good-bad, and appropriate-inappropriate) of normativity ethical approach are used in particular to reveal the spirit of peace towards the meaning of Islam. The conclusion derived from the etymological and epistemological analyses is that Islam means obedience, subjugation, and submission to God as an effort to seek safety and happiness in the world and the world after. The ontological analysis shows that Islam is a religion of peace in which its two principal teachings are believing in Allah and nurturing unity and friendship among the mankind. Islam is hoped to be comprehended as a religion that is friendly and becomes rahmatan lil alamin. The analysis using Stackhouse’s normativity ethical approach focuses on the term jihad which is mean restraining from wars. When it comes to wars, jihad must be done with the spirit to erase oppression, enforce the freedom of belief, and disseminate the message of peace. Eventually, jihad itself is the manifestation of peace which is truly the spirit of Islam

Abstract

Expressing gratitude and responding it are rare things in Indonesia. It is interesting and surprising because in the Holy Quran there are so many verses about gratitude commands, moreover, God will give Muslim more if he is grateful. But we find most Muslims who are ungrateful. Based on this problem, this article aims to elaborate the significance of expressing gratitude and its correlation to the quality of faith to God, emotion, and happiness, and interpersonal relationship using the Quran and psychology as the conceptual framework and also based on empirical findings. The conclusion of this paper underlines that the Quran and psychology have common view on gratitude. The research results that grateful correlated with intrinsic religiousness positively and with extrinsic religiousness negatively and prayer increases gratitude, prayer plays a causal role in promoting gratitude as well. It is similar with the teaching of Surah An-Nisa’ (4): 147 and Surah Luqman (31): 12. People who often say thank you have strong relationship with the other as they do not only think of their relationship to God but also to other humans. All these findings are strongly in line with the research that gratitude is correlated to fewer depressive symptoms.AbstrakMengekspresikan rasa terima kasih dan menanggapinya adalah hal yang masih langka di Indonesia. Sangat menarik dan mengejutkan, karena da-lam Al-Quran ada begitu banyak ayat tentang perintah syukur, apalagi Tu-han akan memberi lebih banyak muslim jika dia bersyukur. Tapi kami menemukan sebagian besar muslim yang tidak tahu berterima kasih. Ber-dasarkan masalah ini, artikel ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan pentingnya mengekspresikan rasa terima kasih dan korelasinya dengan kualitas iman kepada Tuhan, emosi dan kebahagiaan, dan hubungan interpersonal menggunakan Al-Quran dan psikologi sebagai kerangka kerja konseptual dan juga berdasarkan temuan empiris. Kesimpulan dari artikel ini meng-garisbawahi bahwa Al-Quran dan psikologi memiliki pandangan yang sama tentang rasa terima kasih. Hasil penelitian yang bersyukur berko-relasi dengan religius intrinsik secara positif dan dengan religiusitas ekstrinsik negatif dan doa meningkatkan rasa syukur, doa memainkan peran kausal dalam mempromosikan rasa syukur juga. Ini mirip dengan ajaran Surah An-Nisa '(4): 147 dan Surah Luqman (31): 12. Orang yang sering mengucapkan terima kasih memiliki hubungan yang kuat dengan yang lain karena mereka tidak hanya memikirkan hubungan mereka dengan Tuhan tetapi juga untuk manusia lain. Semua temuan ini sangat sejalan dengan penelitian bahwa rasa terima kasih berkorelasi dengan gejala depresi yang lebih sedikit

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui mengapa masyarakat Sedulur Sikep masih mempertahankan kebudayaan mereka dari dulu hingga sekarang dan apakah terdapat makna terkait pakaian khas yang mereka gunakan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah tujuan dari masyarakat Sedulur Sikep tetap mempertahankan cara berpakaian khas mereka yaitu untuk menghargai sesama Sedulur Sikep. Selain itu menjadi bukti bahwa Sedulur Sikep masih memegang nilai-nilai luhur yang telah diturunkan dari para pendahulunya dan tidak tergerus oleh zaman. Cara berpakaian yang khas dari Sedulur Sikep merupakan karakteristik tersendiri yang membedakannya dengan kelompok lain. Dan juga mencerminkan bagaimana mereka berhubungan antar sesama makhluk ciptaan Tuhan  serta mereka mampu menempatkan diri mereka pada perannya masing-masing dan mengamalkan ajaran yang telah diwariskan dari pendahulunya.

Abstract

Abstrak Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh dampak globalisasi yang hedonis yang membuat adanya pergeseran kompetensi, karakter, dan spiritual guru dari hakikat yang sebenarnya. Hal ini berbeda dengan guru zaman dulu yang mempunyai karakter dan kepribadian hakiki seorang guru, yakni mempunyai nilai-nilai luhur keagamaan yang mampu memberikan kemajuan bagi anak didiknya. Hal ini kemudian membuat sikap dan penghormatan siswa, orangtua, dan masyarakat terhadap guru sangatlah berbeda dibandingkan dengan sekarang. Mengapa hal ini bisa terjadi? Hal ini terjadi karena guru tidak memiliki kompetensi yang wajib dimiliki oleh seorang guru. Karena itulah, berdasarkan Permendiknas No. 16 Tahun 2007, seorang guru harus memiliki beberapa kompetensi wajib, dan tulisan inilah yang akan mendeskripsikannya. Artikel ini berusaha mengkorelasikan kompetensi wajib yang ada di Permendiknas No. 16 Tahun 2007 dengan hadits-hadits terkait kompetensi guru, dan juga mengaitkannya dengan teori psikologi. Hasil kajian menemukan bahwa guru harus dibekali kompetensi spiritual agar bisa mendukung empat kompetensi wajib dalam permendiknas, yaitu kompetensi pedagogis, sosial, kepribadian, dan profesional. Kata Kunci: Psikologi guru; Hadits; Profetik Abstract This paper is motivated by the impact of hedonistic globalization that makes teacher's competence, character, and spirituality change. It is different from teachers of the prophet era who have the character and the essential personality of a teacher, which have the noble religious values that can provide progress for their students. It has an impact on the reduction of attitudes and respect for students, parents, and society towards teachers. Why did it happen? It happens because the teachers do not have good competence. Therefore, based on Permendiknas No. 16 th of 2007, a teacher must have some core competencies, and this writing will describe it. This article attempts to correlate the core competencies in Permendiknas No.16th of 2007 with the hadiths related to the competence of teachers, and also relate it to the theory of psychology. The results of the study found that teachers should have spiritual competence in order to support four core competencies in Permendiknas namely pedagogical, social, personality and professional competence. Abstract

Sedekah bumi merupakan salah satu tradisi tahunan masyarakat petani di pesisir utara Jawa Tengah yang dilaksanakan setelah panen raya, tepatnya di bulan Dzulqo’dah pada hari weton Kliwon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui model kebersyukuran dan resiliensi komunitas pada masyarakat Rembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi pustaka. Untuk mengantisipasi adanya distorsi data dalam pengumpulan data, dilakukan crosscek data melalui pencocokan hasil interview antar informan dan antara hasil observasi dan kajian pustaka dengan hasil interview. Dari pengkroscekan data, dilanjutkan dengan menganalisis data mana yang memiliki keakuratan yang paling tinggi. Selain itu, analisis juga menggunakan teori resiliensi dan kebersyukuran perspektif psikologi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perayaan sedekah bumi dapat menjadi model untuk meningkatkan kebersyukuran dan resiliensi komunitas. Upacara sedekah bumi memicu peningkatan keyakinan spiritualitas dan kepasrahan kepada Tuhan, kebersyukuran dan resiliensi komunitas. Sedekah bumi merupakan strategi yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat untuk mengantisipasi dan beradaptasi dalam menghadapi trauma, kesulitan, tragedy, ancaman dan semua hal yang menimbulkan stress. Sedekah bumi juga dilakukan sebagai ungkapam syukur masyarakat kepada Tuhan. Bersyukur adalah ungkapan terima kasih setelah seseorang memperoleh kebaikan yang dianggap berharga dan bersifat altruistik.

Abstract

Ondel-ondel is a cultural performance of the Betawi people passed down from generation to generation. However, the problem that occurs is that along with the development of the era, ondel-ondel is no longer a sacred object and is no longer used for ritual offerings and the loss of cultural values of the ancestors. The purpose of making this journal is to find out the shift in the meaning of the ondel-ondel cultural myth to the beliefs of the people of Jakarta. The method used in this study uses a qualitative approach and data collection techniques use interview techniques, observation and analysis of various journals or literature studies. The subject of this research was conducted on 4 people, namely a number of the Jakarta community about their views on the shift in the meaning of the myth of ondel-ondel art. In this day and age, ondel-ondel shows are very easy to find, especially on roadside areas in Jakarta. Unlike the old days, ondel-ondel was only displayed when there were certain events such as a traditional Betawi wedding. The result of this research is that there are differences and shifts in the meaning of ondel-ondel cultural myths. In ancient times ondel-ondel was only displayed during certain events. And people in ancient times tend to still believe in the existing ondel-ondel cultural myths. Unlike the current era, ondel-ondel is used as a means of getting money. The benefit of this research is to find out what values have been lost from previous cultures and be able to take good positive values taught in previous cultures without taking the negative values found in the past culture. It is enough to make historical knowledge to remember existing history. This study concludes that there has been a shift in meaning in the myth of ondel-ondel culture and sadly it occurs due to the pressure of economic factors.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris pengaruh kontrol sosial terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah, pengaruh konformitas teman sebaya terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja dan pengaruh secara simultan kontrol sosial dan konformitas teman sebaya terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel sebesar 379 remaja. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan insidental sampling, dan untuk metode analisis menggunakan teknik analisis linear berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh kontrol sosial terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja di kecamatan Pati, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 dan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar -0,371, ada pengaruh konformitas teman sebaya terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja di kecamatan Pati dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 dan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,739, dan untuk pengaruh secara simultan menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh secara simultan kontrol sosial dan konformitas teman sebaya terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja di kecamatan Pati, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 dan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,247. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yakni semakin rendah tingkat kontrol sosial dan semakin tinggi tingkat konformitas teman sebaya maka semakin tinggi tingkat perilaku seksual pranikah, sebaliknya semakin tinggi tingkat kontrol sosial dan semakin rendah konformitas teman sebaya maka semakin rendah tingkat perilaku seksual pranikah.

Abstract

Resilience is essential for mothers who experience pressure and stress while accompanying their children to take part in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of self-esteem and social support on mothers’ resilience of Early Childhood Education students during distance learning assistance. This quantitative study uses a sample of 117 mothers of Early Childhood Education students in Bulusari Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with a convenience sampling method. The measuring instrument of this study consisted of a self-esteem scale, a social support scale, and a resilience scale with data collection techniques through questionnaires. The data analysis method in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. The study’s results showed that self-esteem and social support simultaneously significantly affected resilience with a significance value of 0.000 0.05 with a contribution of 41.3%. It proves that self-esteem and social support empirically have a role in the resilience of mothers of Early Childhood Education students during distance learning assistance.

Abstract

Students commonly encounter various challenges and difficulties during their college years, necessitating academic resilience. As a result, academic resilience becomes a crucial quality for every student to possess. This study aims to explore the relationship between self-compassion and self-efficacy with academic resilience among students at Walisongo State Islamic University, Semarang. The research population consisted of 14,498 students, and a sample of 100 students was selected using the incidental sampling technique. The study employs a quantitative correlational research method, utilizing three measurement instruments: academic resilience, self-compassion, and self-efficacy. The data analysis method used is multiple correlation testing. The research findings reveal that: 1) There is a positive correlation between self-compassion and academic resilience among students at Walisongo State Islamic University; 2) There is a positive correlation between self-efficacy and academic resilience among students at Walisongo State Islamic University; and 3) There is a positive correlation between self-compassion and self-efficacy with academic resilience among students at Walisongo State Islamic University. The higher the level of self-compassion in students, the greater their academic resilience. Likewise, the higher the level of self-efficacy in students, the greater their academic resilience. Therefore, it is crucial for students to cultivate both self-compassion and self-efficacy to enhance their academic resilience. The results of this study are valuable for improving students' self-compassion and self-efficacy, providing a basis for establishing counseling services at universities, and offering insights for future research to explore other variables related to academic resilience.
