Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure the absorption coefficient of composite material synthesized from coconut fiber as filler and epoxy matrix and to discover the alternative interval of sound reducer material from natural resources, i.e (coconut fiber : fine fiber, rough fiber and crude fiber). After pressing, the sample was then cutted and examined using Bruel and Kjaer characterization. From the characterization process, the absorption coefficient of composite with filler of fine, rough and crude coconut fiber is calculated and found to be 0.997, 0.97 and 0.96, respectively. © 2015 JNSMR UIN Walisongo. This research discusses the relation between Islam and the State among Muslim scholars. Many discuss the relation between Islam and the State from Sharia and historical viewpoints. However, this study examines the relation from education standpoint. The literature research looks at academic publications from prominent Muslim scholars around the world. This research asserts that the study on relation between Islam dan the State can be divided into three main categories: integrative, substantive and secular. In relation to education, those studies reveal that educational institutions attempt to align their teaching ideology with the ideology of its founder or stakeholders. Despite their significant differences, all Muslim scholars derive their thought and discussion from thelogical foundation of Al-Qur’an and Hadith. They also seem to show a common ground in defining Islamic Education. Nevertheless, Islamic education institutions present various views on teaching the ideology in relation between Islam and the State, from moderate teaching to radical teaching or understanding.

Abstract

Students in Indonesian boarding schools (pondok pesantren) have longer study hours than those in non-boarding schools. They also interact with the same friends all day. This situation makes them vulnerable to boredom and depression, and they also run the risk of being bullied. Therefore, student well-being in boarding schools needs to be studied further, with peer attachment and academic self-efficacy as predictors. This study aims to examine the effect of peer attachment and academic self-efficacy on the well-being of students attending boarding school. The study uses a quantitative approach with the linear regression method. It involves 284 students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic Junior High School), aged between 13-15 years old, selected using the stratified random sampling method. The data collection instruments employed were the Peer Attachment Scale, Academic Self-efficacy Scale, and School Well-being Scale. The result shows that peer attachment and academic self-efficacy significantly affect school well-being (p < .01, F = 156.181, effective contribution of predictors = 52.3%). It indicates that peer attachment and academic self-efficacy simultaneously significantly influence well-being among students in boarding schools. Students should improve their peer attachment and increase their academic self-efficacy to live well in boarding schools.
