Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of reward and punishment on work motivation and employee performance, and to analyze whether work motivation can improve employee performance at RSD dr. H. Soemarno Sosroatmodjo Tanjung Selor. Using a quantitative approach and survey method, data were collected through a questionnaire as the main instrument. In addition, observations were conducted to examine the actual conditions in the field. The collected data were then tested for validity, reliability, and classical assumptions to ensure data accuracy. Data analysis techniques included t-test, F-test, path analysis, and coefficient of determination test (R²). The results showed that reward had a significant effect on motivation (p = 0.000) and employee performance (p = 0.001), but not indirectly through motivation (p = 0.677). Punishment also had a significant effect on motivation (p = 0.031) and directly on performance (p = 0.031), but not indirectly (p = 0.364). Motivation was found to have no significant effect on performance (p = 0.669) due to the structured work system through KPI.

Abstract

Abstract Health promoters (promkes) require a strong professional identity to appear credible and influential in the digital era. However, preliminary observations of 82 Health Promotion students at FIKK UNM found a low understanding of communication strategies and personal branding, as they were still focused on technical aspects. This community service activity aimed to improve understanding and these soft skills through an interactive workshop method, which included material presentation, case studies, and practical simulations. The activity was evaluated using pre-test and post-test instruments. The results showed a significant increase in understanding, where the participants' overall average score increased from 48.3 (pre-test) to 85.8 (post-test), a 77.6% increase. The highest increase occurred in the personal branding aspect (96.3%). Qualitatively, 86.7% of participants actively engaged in the simulation sessions. These results indicate that the workshop was effective in bridging the gap between technical abilities and soft skills, and successfully provided a foundation for students to build a professional self-image as future health promoters.
