Abstract

Kegiatan Pelatihan Pemanfaatan Sampah Plastik Menjadi Produk Kerajinan Tangan Bernilai Ekonomis ini merupakan program aplikasi ipteks yang dapat memberikan solusi bagi permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh Mitra. Adapun Mitra pada kegiatan ini adalah remaja putus sekolah di Desa Alue Lim Kota Lhokseumawe. Permasalahn utama mitra adalah masih rendahnya tingkat pendidikan dan kesejahteraan mitra secara finansial serta belum dimanfaatkannya sampah plastik di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) Alue Lim yang berada di wilayah mitra. Pelatihan ini bertujuan agar mitra mengerti dan menerapkan proses pemanfaatan sampah plastik menjadi produk kerajinan tangan seperti tas dan dompet yang bernilai ekonomis. Produk tersebut diharapkan dapat dijual sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktifitas dan kemandirin mitra secara finansial serta dapat mengurangi beban TPA dalam menampung sampah plastik. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan meninjau kondisi eksisting mitra kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pembinaan masyarakat dan workshop pembuatan kerajinan tangan dari sampah plastik. Hasil dari kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah bertambahnya ilmu dan keahlian mitra dalam hal pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan sampah plastik serta mampu membuat tas dan dompet dari sampah plastik bekas kemasan detergen, sabun, pewangi pakaian, dan plastik kresek yang bernilai ekonomis.Kata Kunci: anorganik, pemanfaatan, plastik, masyarakat, sampah

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is one of the most useful plants that can grow and develop throughout Indonesia. Turmeric is known to have high curcumin content so it has several pharmacological effects such as antioxidants. This study aims to produce a turmeric extract lotion preparation and to test the physical quality according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI-16-4399- 1996). This research method is experimental which consists of making simplicia and extraction using maceration with 96% ethanol as solvent. The formulation used turmeric extract with a volume of 1 ml, 3 ml and 6 ml and the addition of carrageenan concentrations with a mass of 1gr, 1.5gr, 2gr, 2.5gr and 3gr. Evaluation of the physical quality characteristics of lotion preparations included organoleptic observation, homogeneity testing, absorbency test and pH test. The results showed that the three extract concentration formulas produced a homogeneous lotion, thick, smooth texture, odorless, light yellow, light orange and yellow. Hand and body lotion with the use of 3gr carrageenan added with 6 ml turmeric extract resulted in a homogeneous appearance; pH 7.0; viscosity 23600 cPs. The addition of turmeric extract produces hand and body lotion that meets the standards of SNI 4399-1996.

Abstract

Turmeric contains chemicals that are benefical for the health of the body and can be used for making cosmetics. This study aims to make blush on cosmetics from natural ingredients with some benefits that not only increase external beauty but also nourish the skin from within by utilizing the natural color of the turmeric plant. Turmeric extraction was carried out using ethanol as a solvent using the maceration method. Maseration is done for 3x24 hours. This study used variations in the concentration of turmeric extract as mush as 4ml, 6ml, 8ml and 10ml with variations in the concentration of talcum as much as 0gr, 0.5gr, 1gr, 1.5gr and 2gr. The testing that has done includes flavonoid test, pH values, irritation test and organoleptic test. The results of this study showed us that the best blush on with a composition of 8ml turmeric extract with 0.5gr talc has a positive flavonoid value, a pH value is 4.9 compatiable according to the pH of face skin, which 4.6-7, an irritation test value of 0 indicates that the blush on does not irritate the skin and the organoleptic test results have an average color value of 4.2, and average aroma of 4.3 and an average texture of 4.0.
