Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual problem among adolescent girls and often affects daily activities, concentration, and academic performance. Yoga exercise is known to reduce menstrual pain through relaxation, improved blood circulation, and increased endorphin release. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of yoga exercise in reducing dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls at Budi Murni 2 Private High School Medan. Methods: This pre-experimental study employed a one-group pretest– posttest design involving 56 adolescent girls selected using purposive sampling. Yoga exercise was conducted for 30 minutes twice weekly. Dysmenorrhea intensity was assessed using the Wong Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: Before the intervention, 82.1% of respondents experienced severe dysmenorrhea. After yoga exercise, 85.7% reported a decrease to mild pain, and 12.5% reported no pain. The Spearman Rank correlation test showed a significant relationship between yoga exercise and dysmenorrhea reduction (p = 0.019) with a very strong negative correlation (r = –0.885). Conclusion: Yoga exercise is effective in reducing dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls. The findings support yoga as a non-pharmacological intervention that can be integrated into school-based health programs to manage menstrual pain.

Abstract

Introduction: Since 1995, Indonesia began to adopt the Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse Chemotherapy (DOTS) system in controlling tuberculosis. The main drugs recommended in this system are Antituberculosis Drugs (OAT) consisting of Isoniazid (H), Rifampicin (R), Pyrazinamide (Z), and Ethambutol (E). The use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs can cause side effects which are still other problems, such as liver damage which is characterized by an increase in transaminase enzymes. Therefore, monitoring liver function is very important. The routine examination carried out is a serum transaminase examination, namely SGOT (AST) and SGPT (ALT). Therefore, monitoring liver function is very important. The routine examination carried out is a serum transaminase examination, namely SGOT (AST) and SGPT (ALT). Objective: the aim of this study is to determine whether there is a difference between SGOT and SGPT levels before and after treatment with Antituberculosis Drugs . Method: The research design was cross-sectional analytic using secondary data from examination results of SGOT and SGPT levels from adult tuberculosis sufferers who were undergoing treatment at Cileungsi Regional Hospital, totaling 70 people. The research was conducted from January to August 2023. Results: There was an increase in SGOT levels by 104%, namely from 21.61 IU/L before treatment to 43.47 IU/L and SGPT levels increased by 107%, namely from 16.41 IU/L before treatment to 34.47 IU /L.. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference of 0.000 (p <0.05) for SGOT and SGPT levels before and after treatment.. Conclusion: there is a significant difference between SGOT and SGPT levels before and after treatment with antituberculosis drugs.

Abstract

The high maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is caused by several health and non-health factors, for example there are still many births assisted by traditional birth attendants or caused by disease or nutritional problems. The maternal mortality rate (MMR), which is an indicator of maternal health in Indonesia, is still high when compared with ASEAN countries. Knowledge about the danger signs in pregnancy helps reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) by encouraging pregnant women to quickly seek health facilities. Early detection of danger signs allows prompt treatment, which can reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. It is very important for pregnant women to know about the danger signs of pregnancy. If they encounter danger signs of pregnancy, they can immediately seek help from health workers. This research is descriptive in nature with the population being 40 pregnant women who live in Purwodadi Village, PKM Muliorejo Working Area, Deli Serdang Regency. Data was collected using a questionnaire, processed using a frequency distribution and presented in the form of narrative text. The research results showed that there were 5 pregnant women who had good knowledge about the danger signs of pregnancy (9.3%) and 14 people (14.4%) who had good knowledge about the danger signs of pregnancy and 15 pregnant women who had a positive attitude about the danger signs of pregnancy ( 37.5%) and 25 people (62.50%) had a negative attitude. Furthermore, it is hoped that the Health Service will intensify the education and counseling program regarding the danger signs of pregnancy in health service facilities and that pregnant women will be active in seeking information related to pregnancy health, especially regarding the Danger Signs of Pregnancy.
