Abstract

PERFORMANCE PRODUCTION AND EGG SHELL THICKNESS OF QUAIL (Coturnix coturnix japonica) AT 6-14 WEEKS OLD AT DIFFERENT LIGHTING LENGTH. This study was done to determine the effect of the lighting length on the performance of quail production at 6-14 weeks old. This research was conducted at the experimental laboratory of Animal Production Department, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Sam Ratulangi University Manado, during the period from January 7, 2017 to March 3, 2017. The ration used was SP-22 commercial feed by PT. Sinta Fredmill. The total of quails used were 80 birds. Birds were maintained in a 60cm x 40cm baterrey system, using 5 watts power light. The variables measured were feed consumption, egg production and peak production, egg weight, and thickness of the egg shell. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication of experiment involved 4 quails with the treatments; R0 = 12 hours of illumination; R1 = 16 hours of illumination; R2 = 20 hours of illumination; R3 = 24 hours of illumination. Feeding and drinking water were prepared ad libitum. The result of the analysis showed that duration of lighting did not affect the averages of feed consumption, egg production, egg weight and egg shell thickness, but peak production could be reached more than 80% at the thirteenth week. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of light for female quail production at 6-14 weeks old did not affect feed consumption, peak production, egg weight, and thickness of the egg shell Keywords: Quail, performance production, lighting length illumination

Abstract

THE GROWTH OF PERFORMANCE “BANGKOK” CHICKEN AT THE STARTER PHASE GIVEN FEED IN LEVELS OF DIFFERENCE PROTEIN. This study was conducted to evaluate the levels of protein in ration affecting consumption, average daily gain, feed conversion and mortality of “Bangkok” chicken at the starter phase. Birds used in this study were 36 chicken at the age of 2 weeks old. Treatments in this study were rations with protein levels of 18 percents (Ration A), 20 percents (Ration B), and 22 percents (Ration C).Variables observed were feed consumption (g/h/d), Average daily gain (g/h/d), feed conversion and mortality (percents). Method of completely randomized design were applied in this study using 3 treatments with 6 replications at each treatment. Each treatment and replication was filled 2 chicken of “Bangkok” strain. Results of this study showed that protein levels of 18 to 22 percents in the diets did not affect feed consumption, average daily gain, feed conversion and mortality. Therefore, it can be concluded that the protein levels of 18 to 22 percents in the diets had the same responses in growing performance of “Bangkok” strain at starter phase.Kata Kunci:“Bangkok” strain chicken, growing performance, protein levels.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas internal telur itik Ratu dengan sistem pemeliharaan semi intensif dan intensif terhadap warna kuning telur, berat kuning telur, indeks kuning telur dan indeks putih telur itik ratu yang di laksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Ternak (THT) Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Sam Ratulangi pada tanggal 27  sampai tanngal 29 maret 2023. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji perbandingan rata-rata, menggunakan Uji t Tidak Berpasangan. Rata-rata warna kuning telur dihasilkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu : 11,956±0,208 pada pemeliharaan intensif dan 15,000±0,000 pada pemeliharaan semi intensif. Hasil Uji t Tidak Berpasangan menunjukan berbeda sangat nyata (P<0,01), untuk rata-rata berat kuning telur itik ratu yang dipelihara secara intensif 29,866±2,089 dan semi intensif 27,990±2,764. Berat kuning telur hasil uji t tidak berpasangan menunjukan berbeda sangat nyata (P<0,01). Rata-rata indeks kuning telur itik pada pemeliharaan intensif 0,505±0,004 dan pemeliharaan semi intensif 0,464±0,046, indeks kuning telur pada pemeliharaan intensif dan semi intensif hasil uji t tidak berpasangan menunjukkan berbeda  sangat nyata (P<0,01), dan pada indeks putih telur menunjukan bahwa rata-rata pada pemeliharaan intensif 0,299±0,084 dan pemeliharaan semi intensif 0,277±0,078. Hasil uji t  tidak berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) pada indeks putih telur telur itik ratu yang dipelihara menggunakan sistem pemeliharaan intensif dan semi intensif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa itik yang dipelihara menggunakan sistem pemeliharaan Intensif lebih baik dalam hal berat kuning telur, dan indeks kuning telur. Untuk warna kuning telur menunjukkan bahwa pemeliharaan dengan sistim semi intensif memberikan warna kuning telur itik lebih cerah (lebih orange). Sedangkan dalam hal Indeks putih telur untuk pemeliharaan semi intensif dan Intensif memberikan hasil yang sama baik. Kata kunci : Telur itik ratu, intensif, semi intensif
