Abstract

Kata Kunci : TB Paru, Pendidikan, Pendapatan, Riwayat Kontak, Kebiasaan Merokok ABSTRACT Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis which is transmitted through sputum splash. Data from WHO Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest TB burden in the world. In 2018, three puskesmas with the highest incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in Bitung City, one of which was the Puskesmas Girian Weru. The purpose of this study is to determine the risk factors of education, income, history of contact with sufferers and smoking habits. This research is an epidemiological study with observational analytic with case control study design and total sampling method which was carried out in the Girian Weru Community Health Center in Bitung City in July - August 2019. The study population is suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis recorded in the puskesmas register in January - May 2019. The number of samples used were 38 cases with positive smear pulmonary tuberculosis and 38 controls who did not suffer from pulmonary TB and lived close to patients with matching sex and age groups. Research instruments using questionnaires, and data analysis using chi-square test (a = 0.05), Odds Ratio (OR), and Confidence Interval 95%. The results of this study are education with pulmonary tuberculosis is (p> a = 0.287), income with pulmonary tuberculosis is (p> a = 0.103), history of contact with pulmonary tuberculosis is (p> a = 0.488), and smoking habits with pulmonary tuberculosis is (p <a = 0.047 OR = 2.727 95% CI = 0.992 - 7.499). The variables that have a risk of pulmonary tuberculosis incidence are smoking habit with OR = 2.727, while the variables that do not have the risk of pulmonary tuberculosis incidence are education, income and contact history. Keywords : Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Educations, Income, Contact History, smoking habits

Abstract

Limited access to healthcare facilities and low health literacy remains significant challenges, particularly on Hiri Island, North Maluku. SMP Negeri 10 Ternate City is one of the schools on Hiri Island equipped with a school health unit (UKS) room, yet it has not been utilized optimally. This community service initiative aimed to promote health independence among school members by providing education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB) and training in the use of basic medical tools. The methods included CHLB education for students and mentoring for teachers in the operation of sphygmomanometers and digital thermometers, which were also provided as support for the UKS facility. Evaluation was conducted through a pre-test and post-test using a questionnaire consisting of 10 true/false questions. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in students knowledge (p 0.05) regarding CHLB, with average scores increasing from 57.89 (pre-test) to 73.68 (post-test). Furthermore, students enthusiasm during the activities indicated that an interactive educational approach can foster awareness of the importance of healthy living habits. This program not only yielded short-term benefits but also paved the way for sustainability and replication in other schools.

Abstract

This study explored the free radical scavenging potential of Jatropha curcas L. leaves, focusing on identifying active biochemical constituents and evaluating antioxidant efficacy through a series of extraction and chemical analysis procedures. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of several bioactive secondary metabolites, including alkaloids, saponins, triterpenoids, tannins, and flavonoids. In the Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) assay, the ethyl-acetate fraction exhibited the highest level of antioxidant activity (9.19 ± 0.38 µmol TE/g), significantly higher than that of the ethanol extract (3.52 ± 0.71 µmol TE/g), as well as the aqueous and n-hexane fractions. This value corresponds to strong activity according to the TEAC classification, indicating that Jatropha curcas leaves are a promising source of natural antioxidants. The total phenolic content (TPC) was determined to be 6.78 ± 0.27% GAE, while the total flavonoid content (TFC) measured 1.35 ± 0.07% QE. These findings indicate that phenolic and flavonoid constituents play a primary role in the antioxidant activity of the extract. Variations significantly influenced the observed outcomes in the extraction methodology and solvent polarity. In summary, Jatropha curcas leaves possess substantial antioxidant potential, particularly within the ethyl-acetate fraction, supporting further development for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications.
