Abstract

This study aims to look at the interaction of PPC administration with different concentrations and different spraying frequency and get the best combination of the growth of oil palm seedlings were planted in peat media are flooded periodically. This research has been carried on in the greenhouse UPT Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru, from November 2013 to February 2014. This study used a completely randomized factorial design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was the concentration of PPC consists of 4 levels K0: no PPC, K1: 0.2%, K2: 0.4%, K3: 0.6% and the second factor the frequency of spraying PPC F1 consists of 3 levels: 1 times, F2: 2 times, F3: 3 times. Parameters measured were plant height increase, in the number of leaves, stem diameter, length of the primary root, root number, root volume, shoot root ratio. The mean separation of the tested by Duncan's multiple range test at 5%. The results showed the effect of interaction between the concentration and frequency of spraying PPC parameters contained in the stem base diameter, but not in the parameters as height of plants, increase the number of leaves, the primary root length, number of roots, root volume and shoot root ratio. A PPC concentration of 0.2% to 2 times, spraying showed the best growth at high accretion seed, in the number of leaves and root crown ratio, a PPC concentration of 0.6% with 3 times, spraying showed the best growth in root length, 1 time spraying on a number of roots, and 2 times spraying on the root volume. Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine of yield potential 13 genotypes sweet sorghum and to get of 13 genotypes sweet sorghum to have high productivity. This research has conducted in field experiment and Plant Breeding Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru, from April 2013 to September 2013. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance consist of 13 treatments and 3 replications that contained 39 experimental units. These treatments consist of BATAN’s sweet sorghum strains, there are Patir-1, Patir-2, Patir-3, Patir-4, Patir-5, Patir-6, Patir-7, Patir-8, Patir-9, Patir-10 and 3 sweet Sorghum varieties as a comparison, there are Kawali, Mandau and Pahat. The genotypes treatments were significantly affect to plant height, number of segments per plant, panicle length, main panicle of seed weight, weight of 1000 seed but not significant affect of stem diameter, days to flowering, and seed weight /m2. Genotypes tested the ability of growth and yield different each genotypes. Genotypes   Patir-10 has the highest of seed weight are 3.78 ton /ha compared to other genotypes. Abstract

This research aims to improve the growth and production as well as the interaction of bacteria solvent phosphate and the best dosage of rock phosphate on green beans variety 129 that grown in peat medium. This study was conducted in the area of Jalan Kutilang Sakti Panam, Pekanbaru, from May to November 2012 by using a randomized block design (RAK) factorial. The first factor consists of 2 levels of bacteria solvent phosphate (B), namely: free of bacteria solvent phosphate and granting bacteria solvent phosphate. The second factor is the dosage of rock phosphate (P) in 5 levels i.e; without granting rock phosphate, 0.186 of rock phosphate g/polybag, 0.372 g of rock phosphate/polybag, 0.558 g of rock phosphate/polybag, and 0.744 g of rock phosphate/polybag. Parameters noted were dry weight, root dry weight, the proportion of the pithy pods, the percentage of the total pod, weight of 100 seeds, and harvest seed weight of the green bean plants. Observations results were statistically analyzed by using variance analysis then continued by Duncan's multiple range testson the level 5%. The results showed that, in general, the treatment of bacterial solvent phosphate significantly influenced all of the parameters of the observation. The best combination contained on the combination of bacterial solvent phosphate and dosage 0.744 g of rock phosphate as the best result in crown dry weight, root dry weight, pithy pods percentages total pods percentages, 100 seeds weight, and harvesting seeds weight of green beans plants. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of compound TKKS and NPK  fertilizerAnd get the best combinationNPKand TKKSon the growth ofcocoa seedlings(Theobroma cacao L.).This research was conducted at the experimental station Faculty of Agriculture,University of Riau in august-november 2013.Completely Randomized Designwith twoFactor use in this experiment the treatment consisted factor 1 isGivingCompostTKKSwith4 levels, namely: (K0): WithoutgivingTKKSCompound, (K1): GivingCompound TKKSdose20g /polybag, (K2): Givinga dose of40g ofcompoundTKKS/polybag, (K3): GivingCompoundTKKSdoses of 60g/polybag. Abstract

This research aims to gain palm oil seed that fulfill quality standard while give liquid  complementary fertilizerthough the seeds that stressed by flooding. The research was done in a Completely Randomized Design 3x3 and 3 replication. The first factor is seeds age, there are u0 = 3 months, u1 = 5 months, and u2 = 7 months age of palm oil, and the second factor is concentrate of liquid  complementary fertilizer, there are p0 = 0 ppm, p1 = 6 ppm, and p2 = 12 ppm. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance andfurthertestedusingDuncan`sNewMultiple RangeTestatthe level of 5%,to decide criteria of seeds quality used standard of seeds quality according to Sihombing (2013). The result of research shows that there is no interaction between seeds age and concentrate of liquid  complementary fertilizer on all observation variable. Seeds which is 5 months old and have stressed by flooding fulfill standard of seeds quality, but seeds which is 3 months and 7 months old don’t fulfill the standard of seeds quality only on height diference seeds. The ratio of roots, dry weight of seeds, and standard index of palm oil seed that stressed by floodingare better if we give liquid  complementary fertilizer in 6 to 12 ppm. Abstract

  The objectives of this research to determine the effect of coconut water concentration  on dragon fruit (Hylocereus costaricensis) nursery. This research was conducted at dragon fruit plantation of dragon fruit Tameran, Bengkalis, in August to December 2012. This experiment used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were Coconut Water  Concentration (P) as followed: P1: 0% (0 ml coconut water in 100 ml of water), P2: 25 % (25 ml coconut water in 75 ml of water), P3: 50% (50 ml coconut water in 50 ml of water), P4: 75% (75 ml coconut water in 50 ml of water), P5: 100% (100 ml coconut water in 0 ml of water). Parameters observed: those appearing shoot, shoot length, number of shoot, added root length, added number of roots, root volume, fresh and dry weight. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further tested using Duncan New Multiple Range Test level 5%. The research suggested that 50% concentration coconut water was the best for growth added root length, added number of roots, root volume, fresh and dry weight. Abstract

This research aims to get the best dose of Urea to each sorghum               (Sorghum bicolor L.) varieties. This research used a randomized block design, consisting of 2 factors with 3 replications. The first factor was 4 varieties sorghum, those Kawali, Numbu, Pahat and Mandau. The second factor was 3 levels of Urea treatment (60, 120 and 180 kg Urea/ha). Parameters measured were days to flowering (day), number of segments per plant (node), plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm), number of leaves (stands), panicle length (cm), seed weight per m2 (g) and weight of 1000 seed (g). The mean separation of analysis of variance was tested using Duncan’s multiple range test at 5%. The result indicates that application of 60 kg Urea/ha gave the best result on Pahat and Kawali varieties. Application of 120 kg Urea/ha and 180 kg Urea/ha on Pahat gave the best result compare to Kawali, Numbu and Mandau varieties.   Keywords: Sorghum, Urea, Production.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find the effect of frequency by manually weeds control for growth and the production of paddy field (Oryza sativa L.) by SRI methode. This research was conducted in Balai Benih Induk Hortikultura at Kaharuddin Nasution street, Padang Marpoyan, Pekanbaru. This research held for 5 months, started in November 2011 until March 2012. This research use Randomized Block Design (RBD) that consists of 4 treatments and 3 replications. These treatments consist of once weeding ( 30 days after planted), twice weeding ( 20, 40 days after planted), third weeding (20, 30, 40 days after planted) and fourth weeding ( 10, 20, 30, 40 days after planted) manually. Parameters measured were plant height (cm), number of maximum nhymps (stem), the outgoing panicles (days), the number of productive tillers (seed), dried milled rice production per clump (g), 1000 seed weight (g). Data was analyzed by analysis of variance and further test by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%.  The research showed that the treatment of frequency by manually weed  control were not significant to all parameters (parameters measured were plant high, number of maximum nhymps, the outgoing panicles, the number of productive tillers, 1000 seed weight ) except in parameter of dried milled rice production per clump and the manually weeding of once frequency (30 days after planted)  has yield 15,2 t/ha. Abstract

The research aims to determine the best dose of Urea to yield and seed quality in some varieties of sorghum. This research using a randomized block design consisting of two factors with 3 replications. The first factor was 4 varieties of sorghum those Kawali, Numbu, Pahat and Mandau and the second factor was 3 levels of Urea treatments (60, 120 and 180 kg Urea/ha). Parameter those observed were seed weight/m2, weight of 1000 seeds, first count test, standard germinator test, index value test and seedling growth rate. The mean separation of analysis of variance was tested using Duncan’s multiple range test at 5%. The result indicates that application of 60 kg Urea/ha gave the best result on Pahat and Kawali. Application of 120 kg Urea/ha and 180 kg Urea/ha on Pahat gave the best result compare to Kawali, Numbu and Mandau. Varieties Kawali and Mandau gives the best in seed quality on Urea treatments at a dosage of 120 kg Urea/ha.   Keywords : Sorghum, Urea, Seed quality

Abstract

The objective of this research was increase yield components and physiological seed quality and determined the proper dose of phosphorus fertilizer on four sorghum varieties. This research has been conducted  in Field Experiment and the plant breeding laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from April 2014 to October 2014. The research conducted by using  randomized  block  design  (RBD) which arranged factorial with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was a fertilizer dose of SP-36, namely: 45 kg SP-36,  90 kg SP-36 kg and 135 kg SP-36 / ha. The second factor was the sorghum varieties those Kawali, Numbu, Pahat and Mandau. The mean separation of analysis of variance was tested using Duncans multiple range test at 5%. Parameters those observed: seed weight / panicle, weight of 1000 seeds, seed weight/m2, seed moisture content, germination test, first count test, rate of germination, seedling dry weight, plumule growth and radicel test. The results showed that phosphorus fertilizer increases the grain weight / panicle, weight of 1000 seeds and seed weight/m2.The phosphorus fertilizer application of 90 kg/ ha showed the best effect on the variety Pahat (8,50 ton/ha) and Mandau (8,7 ton/ha). The Phosphorus fertilizer application increases the physiological seed quality on all parameters except the water content.The phosphorus fertilizer application 135 kg/ha gave the best quality of the seed physiology of Mandau and Numbu.
