Abstract

Each worker is faced to various risks that may cause interference to occupational safety and health. One of the health problems which has less attention from the company is work stress. Work stress can occur with certain working conditions, such as noise, acidic, and contained hydrogen fluoride gases and the work done inside confined space. The purpose of this research was to determine  factors related work stress on workers with chemical hazard in confined spaces in PT Z. This type of research is explanatory research with cross sectional design. A  total of 30 samples taken from the total population. The results of the study described that 60% of respondents had high work stress and 40% of respondents had low work stress. Based on bivariate analysis with a significance level of 5% known that there are six factors related to work stress such as age with p-value of 0.000, the level of education with a p-value of 0.001, marital status with a p-value of 0.006, working period with a p-value of 0.049, the workload physical with p-value of 0.000, hydrogen fluoride gases with a p-value of 0.003. Work stress in the confined space could be minimized by company with increasing the number of blower to reduce hydrogen fluoride gasesand and the temperature in the tank  fitted to the standard and checked the worker PPE periodically, especially on the properness of a reusable filter respirator mask.

Abstract

Objective: The classical issue in most of the Asian countries on establishing hospital safety climate is the lack of budget for safety program due to the management perspective that safety is a burden. It makes safety programs annually only submitted but unapproved because of various management decisions allocating the budget to another program which is considered to be more important. With a lack of budget makes many safety programs are stuck and unimproved. Activity: In the field visit from one of the famous referral hospitals in Yogyakarta, hospital safety climate implementation is reviewed as a picture of hospital safety climate in general. This paper tries to solve the classical issue that inhibits the safety climate implementation in the hospital with a brief introduction to the ROI vs Cost Control for the decision-makers which referenced from various journals as the evidence. Regulation Review: The laws and regulations regarding hospital safety have entered into the legal system that must be fulfilled by the hospital through accreditation at least once every 3 years. However, some of the hospital safety implementations as a major part of the safety climate in hospital runs into unsustain because it is only done as a fulfillment of the obligation to pass accreditation completely which is called "SNARS" (Standar Nasional Akreditasi Rumah Sakit). Even though the rules regarding hospital safety should be used as a reference for establishing a sustainable hospital safety climate but in facts it is not well implemented. Lessons Learned: Safety paradigm will change among the decision-makers from the perspective of safety as a burden and fulfilment of accreditation requirements to the perspective of safety as an investment that can provide long-term benefits for hospitals by calculating ROI vs Cost Control for all safety program and its infrastructure. However, it is very important to establish safety climate in the hospital.ROI vs Cost Control calculations are the main tool for making a paradigm shift from viewing K3 as a cost center to a profit center that can provide long-term competitive advantages.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Low work engagement may lead to decreased performance, increased work-related stress, and higher turnover intention. In outsourcing companies, where job insecurity and limited organizational attachment are common, personal and organizational resources become critical factors. This study aimed to examine the relationship between mindfulness as a personal resource and perceived organizational support as a job resource with work engagement among workers at PT X, an outsourcing service company in Jakarta..Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional approach using purposive sampling. Three validated measurement instruments were used in this study, namely the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) to measure mindfulness, the Perceived Organizational Support Scale (POS-8) to measure perceived organizational support, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) to measure work engagement. For bivariate analysis, associations between variables were tested using the Chi-Square test or Fisher’s Exact test, with p < 0.05 considered statistically significant.Result: Results indicated that 57.5% of respondents had low work engagement. Significant relationships were found between mindfulness and work engagement (p-value = 0.040; POR = 0.360, 95% CI: 0.138–0.937), and between POS and work engagement (p-value = 0.037; POR = 2.618, 95% CI: 1.048–6.540).Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of integrating personal and organizational resources to enhance work engagement. Mindfulness and perceived organizational support play important roles in shaping positive work-related psychological conditions, as well as strengthening organizational support practices to improve employee well-being and work engagement.

Abstract

Hypertension is a common health issue that is often undetected until it leads to serious complications. In Bedahan Village, Depok City, hypertension is a significant health concern, with the number of affected individuals aged 15 years and older reaching 6,048 in 2023. This study focuses on enhancing early detection skills for hypertension among the youth members of Karang Taruna using a participatory and practical approach. The methods employed include education and hands-on training in the use of digital sphygmomanometers. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants' abilities to operate the sphygmomanometer and accurately interpret the readings, which has the potential to reduce the prevalence of hypertension. These findings underscore the importance of involving youth communities, such as Karang Taruna, as public health agents in the early detection of hypertension. This strategy can be applied to address various other health issues within the community.
