Abstract

Islamic architecture is a form of structural art that takes inspiration from the Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Prophet, the Prophet's Family, Companions, Scholars, and Muslim scholars, as well as the physical and metaphysical features of buildings. The concept of Islamic Architecture can maintain harmony between nature and local culture, and sustainable designs must be used, protecting the environment from the planning stage onwards. Barus, which is the entrance to the Islamic Archipelago Civilization, has the potential to be developed into a favorite destination for pilgrims. The beautiful environment around Barus is an added value for this area because the beaches are still beautiful, and the people still adhere to their local wisdom. The object of study is to explore and implement religious-oriented design for resort hotel. The method we use is qualitative explorative research by reviewing some relevant-theory and synthesizing concept. The study formed the design statement: Barus  as the "Zero Point of the Spread of Archipelago Islamic Civilization," which will attract domestic and international visitors, boost the local economy, and provide jobs for the local community. It is necessary to include a bit of Mandailing Batak culture as the majority ethnic group in Barus. The main objective of this sharia resort design is to create sharia-oriented atmosphere through the use of religious architecture and upholding positive human relations. Mosques, galleries, viewing towers, separate swimming pools for men and women, and other facilities are available at this resort, which will make visitors' vacations keep connecting to from Islamic concepts.

Abstract

One of the basic capital in a neighborhood community are schools and mosques. Both communities as actors of development potentially accelerate the pace of urban green space. Community Service Team Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara introduce hydroponic cultivation of vegetables along with the school partners, MIS Al Falah and Masjid Al Falah Youth Community in Kelurahan Tanjung Rejo, Medan. With the aim of transferring knowledge and skills to improve the ability of community partners in the city implemented a training program with a simulation and practice methods of making the hydroponic systems. Training results showed an increase interest, insight knowledge, insight into the potential of the home yard as part of urban green space, vegetable science insights and increased revenue opportunities with the hydroponic system. The simulation results that the practice of making hydroponic provides improved skill mastery hydroponic model manufacturing process, increased interest in carpentry for manufacturing variations hydroponic models conform to the shape of home yard, as well as increasing interest in the manufacture of advanced hydroponic systems equipped with the manufacture of small-scale green house. The use of hydroponic is most appropriate for urban settlements to improve urban green space and promote alternative urban farming for increase economic revenue.

Abstract

Utilization of agricultural potential as a tourist attraction becomes an added value in agricultural businesses today. Agrotourism becomes an alternative for tourists to get recreational experience, knowledge and business relationships in agriculture. For the community this activity can highlight and promote local culture, increase farmers' incomes and preserve natural resources. Ria-Ria village is one of the areas in Humbang Hasundutan Regency chosen by the Government as a food estate area. The area consists of 1000 hectares of land, 215 hectares of which have been planted with 3 types of horticultural plants, namely garlic, onions, and potatoes. But the design of food estate land is still focused on the development of agricultural activities, making the area not ready as an agricultural tourist destination. By socializing to the Ria-Ria Village farming group about the concept of agrotourism by displaying agrotourism references found in several regions, the community has the understanding, awareness and motivation to plan and work on agricultural tourism activities with local potential they have in the food estate area.
