Abstract

Have been done community service activities such as the identification and provision of facilities requiring increased to accommodate Islamic religious activities, community involvement as a partner with which the Badan Kemakmuran Masjid (BKM) Serikat Amal Baik Mosque and SDIT Zahira school in Kelurahan Sei Kera Hilir I Kecamatan Medan Perjuangan, Kota Medan. Succession of transfer of energy-saving knowledge and training within the framework of Islamic spiritual education development in a sustainable manner. The concept of education link and match between the world of education with the implementation of direct education (practice) on the field is done in this activity by linking (linkage activity method) between SDIT educational activities by utilizing as part of religious practice is a real education. The result of this increase in worship facilities helped accommodate the nation's next generation of Islamic worship activities, SDIT Zahira students joined the surrounding community in an effort to promote the prosperity of Islam as well as preserving the architectural artifacts of the Amal Good Union mosque as the identity and landmark of Gang Sado, Medan.

Abstract

As implementation of Tri Dharma is a Community Services. This activity is carried out directly in the field by involving the public and university lecturers together in an effort to overcome the practical application of science in a comprehensive community issues. This community service focused on the in-depth problems of Islamic studies at the Serikat Amal Baik mosque in Kelurahan Sei Kera Hilir I, precisely on Jalan Ibrahim Umar Gg. Nikmat No. 7, Medan city. Working together with the partner Badan Kemakmuran Masjid (BKM) and teachers at SDIT Zahira school, conduct “Rumah Islami” studies and perform continued of comfort supporting infrastructure improvement activities as part of the worship of Islam by Zahira SDIT teachers joining together the surrounding communities. This community service activities that have been carried out concluded that the targets and outcomes achieved by seeing the enthusiasm of the participants in the Islamic spiritual education development framework on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

One important resource at the level of basic education is human resources which requires increased self-competence complementing life skills interrupted by the main tasks as teaching educators. MIS Islamiyah Sunggal School, Medan with the foundation's social mission focuses on serving the average disadvantaged community around the school. The condition of such limited sources of funds requires an alternative way of creating an entrepreneurial spirit to increase income for school educators. For this purpose the 2019 USU TALENTA Community Service Team was conducted directly in the field with community involvement and university lecturers from the University of North Sumatra. The training is carried out with recycling activities and enhancing the 3R waste treatment creativity skills in basic education. It is expected to be able to overcome environmental pollution and open up new opportunities for the community to open up new jobs. In addition to overcoming environmental problems, it also advances the nation economically thereby reducing the number of unemployed people in this country.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Aglomerasi kawasan budidaya ditandai terkelompoknya kegiatan wisata kota, yang pada kenyataannya justru menurunkan daya tarik wisata kota itu sendiri. Kampung Madras di Kota Medan termasuk salah satu wilayah wisata kota lama yang mengalami penurunan vitalitas wisata berupa degradasi penampilan dan sedikitnya aktivitas wisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan menyusun model revitalisasi kawasan wisata berbasis retrofitting sub-urban. Metode Kualitatif Deskriptif dilakukan untuk mengungkap potensi genius loci sebagai unsur revitalisasi menjadikan Kampung Madras sebagai kawasan wisata Little Indian District kota Medan. Model revitalisasi Kampung Madras sebagai Cultural District City dapat diterapkan melalui 3 (tiga) cara antara lain: (1) melalui penataan fasada bangunan yang dibuat bercorak khas, dynamic skyline serta penataan pedestrian menjadi 3 jalur (window shopping lane, circulation lane, amenity lane) (2) Indian bridge and street carnival (3) Foodcourt Pagaruyung. Model revitalisasi ini memerlukan dukungan dan partisipasi para stake holder terutama masyarakat Tamil setempat berupa kegiatan culinary, occasion dan event khas meningkatkan vitalitas ekonomi dan pembentukan suasana Hindustan Kampung Madras. Kata kunci: Kampung Madras, Revitalisasi, Retrofitting, Wisata Kota ABSTRACT. Agglomeration cultivation area is centralized city tourism activities, which in fact worsened the city tourist attraction itself. Kampung Madras in Medan, one of the old town tourist area decreased vitality in an example, degradation of appearance and minimal tourist activity. This research aims to develop a revitalization model of the tourist area based on the sub-urban retrofitting concept. Qualitative Methods Descriptive conducted to revealed the genius loci potential as an element of revitalization to make Kampung Madras be a tourist area Little Indian District of Medan. Revitalization model of Kampung Madras as the Cultural District City can be applied through three ways, among others: (1) through the arrangement of buildings facade typical patterned, dynamic skyline and pedestrian (window shopping lane, circulation lane, amenities lane) (2) Indian bridge and street carnival (3)Pagaruyung foodcourt. These revitalization models require the support and participation of stakeholders, especially the local Tamil community in the act of culinary activity, occasion and event that increase economic vitality and the establishment of Kampung Madras Hindustan atmosphere. Keywords: Kampung Madras, Revitalization, Retrofitting, City Tourism

Abstract

ABSTRAK.  Ketimpangan pembangunan kawasan komersial pusat kota menunjukkan perwajahan urban economics berindikasi urban sprawl. Kawasan Niaga Pasar Petisah di Kecamatan Medan Petisah dimanfaatkan sebagai mix-use land use, minimalisasi ruang publik dan in-efisiensi pemanfaatan ruang luar menjadikan degradasi fungsi kawasan publik kota. Ketimpangan pemanfaatan ruang publik tersebut memerlukan upaya revitalisasi kawasan. Berdasarkan analisis awal konsep revitalisasi urban linkage berbasis kearifan lokal, maka dilakukan perencanaan model desain revitalisasi Kawasan Petisah dengan pendekatan retrofitting urban antara linkage visual, struktural, unsur tata guna lahan, arsitektur lokal, sirkulasi, ruang terbuka publik, aktifitas khas lokal. Keluaran penelitian berupa model rancangan desain revitalisasi kawasan niaga dalam wujud gambaran pra-rencana arsitektural zonasi, sirkulasi, pedestrian, ruang publik, parkir dan model tempat berdagang portabel. Model ini merupakan acuan / guide lines bagi revitalisasi kawasan niaga untuk peningkatan dan pemerataan pembangunan ekonomi di pusat kota Medan Kata-kunci : Model Rancangan Desain,  Revitalisasi, Kearifan Lokal, Pasar Petisah Medan. ABSTRACT. Inequality in the development of downtown commercial areas shows that urban economics indicates to become urban sprawl. The commercial area of Pasar Petisah in Medan Petisah District is used as mix-use land use, the minimization of public space and the inefficiency of the use of outer space, making the function of the open area of the city degraded. This imbalance in the use of public space requires efforts in the revitalization of the area. Based on the preliminary analysis of the revitalization concept of urban linkage based on local wisdom, then it will be appropriate to plan the design model for revitalization of the Petisah Area. This design was carried out using an urban retrofitting approach between visual linkage, structural linkage, land use elements, local architecture, circulation, public open space, as well as local special activities. The research output is a design model for the revitalization of the commercial area in the preliminary design of architectural zoning, circulation, pedestrian ways, public space, parking, and portable trading place design. This model is become a guideline for the revitalization of the commercial area to increase and equalize economic development in downtown Medan. Keywords: Design Model, Revitalization, Local Wisdom, Pasar Petisah Medan

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Permasalahan banjir merupakan hal utama kinerja utilitas kota Medan. Banjir pada suatu kawasan terjadi antara lain karena drainase yang tidak memadai untuk menampung volume air hujan akibat curah hujan yang cukup tinggi. Tingkat partisipasi masyarakat ditentukan dari pemahaman dan pengetahuan yang diterima tentang pengelolaan banjir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai hubungan antara persepsi dan partisipasi, dengan metoda uji (sebelum – setelah) melalui serangkaian FGD dan simulasi penggunaan teknik biopori. Nilai korelasi 0,998 menunjukkan persepsi berkaitan erat dengan pengetahuan akan mempengaruhi tingkat partisipasi masyarakat sebelum dan sesudah FGD dan simulasi dengan nilai korelasi 0,954. Tingkat partisipasi masyarakat cukup antusias terhadap teknik biopori setelah dilakukan pengkayaan pengetahuan, pelatihan dan simulasi penggunaan untuk mengendalikan banjir kota. Penelitian ini berguna sebagai masukan kepada Pemerintah Daerah untuk meningkatkan kegiatan alternatif pengendalian banjir lingkungan. Kata Kunci: banjir, biopori, persepsi, partisipasi masyarakat ABSTRACT. Flood problems are the main performance of utilities in Medan. Flooding in an area occurs due to inadequate drainage to accommodate rainfall volume due to high rainfall. The level of community participation is determined by the understanding and knowledge received about flood management. This study aims to obtain the value of the relationship between perception and participation, with the test method (before-after) through a series of FGD and simulation of the use of biopore techniques. The correlation value of 0.998 indicates that perception closely related to knowledge will influence the participatory level of society before and after FGD and simulation with a correlation value of 0.954. The level of community participation is enthusiastic about biopore techniques after enrichment of knowledge, training, and simulation of use to control the city flood. This research is a useful solution as an input to Local Government to increase an alternative activity of flood control environment. Keywords: flood, biopore, perception, community participation

Abstract

Perkembangan arsitektur dunia adalah memunculkan ciri lokalitas. Saat ini peneliti Arsitektur Nusantara tengah menyusun kertas kerja dengan semangat pengungkapan kecerdasan Arsitektur Nusantara yang setara dengan pengetahuan arsitektur dunia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap potensi Geriten sebagai kecerdasan Arsitektur Nusantara. Pengungkapan karakter dan  identitas tempat Geriten dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif antara lain transformasi dan modifikasi geriten untuk berbagai fungsi di masa kini. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa elemen wajah arsitektur Geriten Karo meng-kini menunjukkan kecenderungan sebagai unsur pembentuk landmark (penanda tempat) melalui desain rhythm perulangan, vista, vertikalitas, ungkapan focal point. Bentuk ayo tampil sebagai pembentuk identitas Karo dalam transformasi bentuk dan proporsi. Unsur bentuk atap Geriten pantas dilestarikan dan dikuatkan sebagai unsur arsitektur pembentuk identitas tempat.Kata kunci: Geriten Karo, Transformasi Arsitektur, Identitas Tempat

Abstract

Business opportunities and challenges in the economic sector are underway in the country, including in Medan Labuhan. Many regions build their territory by making public spaces such as traditional markets. Nowadays, there is a change of consumer behavior toward the traditional market so; its positions are replaced by the modern markets. With the revitalization of Pekan Labuhan traditional market that carries the theme of behavioral architecture is expected to restore the function of the traditional market as a place of selling and purchasing transaction and increasing competitiveness to the modern market. With the achievement of this issue will increase consumer interest to shop in Pekan Labuhan traditional market which then gives a good impact on the economic stability of Medan Labuhan.

Abstract

Medan Labuhan is one of the sub-districts that located in North Medan. The economy in this place is far left behind when compared to Medan City. To improve the economic condition of the region, it is necessary to build a shopping center. The shopping center is not only on the economic side but also a public space for people to do interaction and recreation. The analogy of Deli river into metaphor concept will make a new identity of this region. This shopping center will enhance economic growth, re-development of the historical potential of Medan Labuhan area as a new attraction for the people of Medan and tourists.

Abstract

The slum is one of the problems in Medan Labuhan area that is difficult to avoid. One of the causes of a slum settlement in this region is due to the increasingly expensive and limited land that causes low-income people do not have enough purchasing power to live in better areas. In response to this situation, the development of a flat rental housing as called as Rusunawa is one alternative that can be done to meet the needs of the community. With the implementation of the Green Architecture concept, the planned Rental Flat Housing can use the maximum use of natural resources and reduce the negative impact on the environment and can create an effective, comfortable and livable dwelling in Medan Labuhan area.
