Abstract

Current-Voltage Characteristics of solar cells p-n junction ZnO and TiO2 parallel in the Cu2O layer has been determined using solar irradiation. Metal oxide has been used as a semiconductor material, such as ZnO and TiO2 is an n-type semiconductor. The material has a gap energy of 3.37 eV and 3.2 eV. Thermal oxidation is applied to commercial Cu plates for 60 minutes to produce Cu2O layers as p-type semiconductors. The process varies in temperature, namely 300, 400, and 500 °C. The process of thermal oxidation on Cu plates at a temperature of 300 °C increases the impurity in the Cu2O layer. The impurity layer is CuO. Then the CuO layer formed decreases with increasing temperature thermal oxidation. CuO layer increases the efficiency of solar cells p-n junction TiO2-ZnO parallel in the layer Cu2O. The results of measurements with sunlight showed that the TiO2-ZnO/Cu2O (300) samples had the highest solar cell efficiency, which was 0.28 %.

Abstract

The Self-Potential (SP) method was used to identify changes in the potential groundwater in the area of Gampong Lengkong, Langsa City. The data acquisition technique was carried out with a fixed base technique with a measurement count of four acquisition lines. Research is conducted for two months that July and August are the same to monitor the changes in the SP value associated with the change of SP anomaly. SP value of the acquisition result is used as a reference for estimating the potential of groundwater. Interpretation is made qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative interpretation through analysis maps of the isopotential contours compared between the first month and the second month of measurements in the field. The interpretation is quantitatively by assuming the source of the subsurface anomaly fix geometry models of cylinders or spheres is done by the inversion modeling using the Levenberg-Marquardt method. The results showed that there was a reduction in SP value in the second month, indicating the potential shortage of groundwater in the region. The decrease in groundwater potential is also shown in the inversion results, where the result of the calculation of SP anomaly source parameters in the first month is estimated to be at 7.77 meters to 11.05 meters below the ground in the monthly measurements second.

Abstract

Transesterification of palm oil using a TiO2/nano-Monmorillorite (nano-MMT) composite catalyst from Aceh Tamiang bentonite in Biodiesel production has been carried out. Biodiesel is bioenergy obtained from vegetable oils, animal fats, microorganisms, and plants. This is alternative energy to replace fossil fuels, especially diesel oil. Biodiesel is proven to be more environmentally friendly in reducing hydrocarbon and sulfur emissions. In this study, TiO2 will be composited with nano-MMT using the solid-state method and analyzed using XRD. Both of these materials are used as catalysts for biodiesel production. The transesterification process will be used in the production of biodiesel, where the molar ratio of palm oil to methanol is 1:12. TiO2/nano-MMT composite catalyst will be varied (2 and 4 grams). Biodiesel samples will be analyzed using GC-MS. The results obtained show that the TiO2/nano-MMT composite catalyst from Aceh Tamiang bentonite can convert Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) from palm oil. The 2 grams of the composite catalyst produced biodiesel of 89.38% and 4 grams of 64.88%.

Abstract

Characteristics energy gap (Eg) composite ZnO/activated carbon from palm bunches (Elaeis guineensis Jack) for solar cell applications have been made. Zinc Oxide or ZnO is an n-type semiconductor having an Eg of 3.37 eV. This is an alternative material that attracts attention to be applied to solar cell devices. Commercial ZnO powder is used and activated carbon from Empty Fruit Bunch (TKS). The formation of activated carbon from the TKS was carried out by chemical activation and carbonization methods at 600 ° C for 1 hour. Composite ZnO / activated carbon from TKS will be done by the method of solid state. Variations in activated carbon from the TKS varied 0, 15, 30, 45 wt.%. The composite was tested by Uv-Vis to produce a graph (hvα) ½ vs hv (eV). The graph gives the characteristics of Eg ZnO / activated carbon composite by Tauc, s plot method. The results produced the lowest Eg in the ZnO / C 45 wt.% Composite, which was 3.20 eV. Increasing activated carbon in ZnO / activated carbon composites decreases the value of Eg.

Abstract

The community in Alue Bu/Alue Lhok village previously had no knowledge of how to utilize local materials from the surrounding area to make products with sales value. The main focus of this activity is on the utilization of lemongrass plants and activated charcoal which will be used as raw materials for making liquid dishwashing soap. This activity aims to educate the community on how to process and use these materials with existing technology so that they can be turned into useful cleaning products. The method of this activity includes several components. The first method stage is to conduct a dialogue with village officials and survey the area around the village to analyze the problems faced by the village community. Then the workshop activity component is carried out in the form of joint practical training in making liquid dishwashing soap. The last activity component is in the form of monitoring the partner community in the process of making and packaging liquid soap independently. As a result of the implementation of this activity, we have succeeded in developing a new product in the form of a cleaning fluid made from a combination of natural ingredients, namely lemongrass plants and activated charcoal. This liquid soap has been specially designed for use in daily activities, especially in washing household appliances. The problems of the community in the partner village have been successfully resolved through community service activities (PKM). In addition to being used independently at home, it is hoped that this product can be marketed by the community so that it can provide a positive contribution to improving the economic level of the local community, through the creation of new business opportunities and the development of local industries.
