Abstract

Helminthiasis is a disease caused by intestinal parasitic worms with a relatively high prevalence that spreads throughout Indonesia. While not fatal, this disease gradually affects the health and productivity of those infected through a decline in nutritional status. Its slow-progressing nature and tendency to be asymptomatic classify helminthiasis as a neglected disease. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 billion people are infected with Ascaris lumbricoides, 795 million people with Trichiuris trichiura, or 740 million people with hookworm. The results obtained from socialization activities conducted in Leupeung Ulee Alue Village, Aceh Besar, indicate that the community still has limited understanding of the dangers posed by helminthiasis and the factors that can lead to infection. This community engagement initiative aims to provide the residents of Leupeung Ulee Alue Village with a better understanding of this disease.

Abstract

Drying is an important step in maintaining the stability of compounds, so that proper treatment of extracts is needed to get metabolite compounds to have efficacy. This study aims to determine the effect of extract drying method on the antioxidant activity of tempuyung leaves (Sonchus arvensis L.). Extract drying method used in conducting this research there are two methods, using waterbath and the combination of waterbath and oven is set at a temperature of 40 ° C. Antioxidant activity was carried out using the 1.1 diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil (DPPH) method. Phytochemical screening result showed that the two samples using the waterbath extract drying method and the combination of waterbath and oven contained flavonoids. The average IC50 value of the tempuyung extract drying method was obtained (72,37±37,78) extract by dryng method using a combination of waterbath and oven (79,6±8,39) vitamin C as a positive control (5,46±7,874). The result of the analysis using one way ANOVA obtained a significance p<0,05,so there is a not difference in the IC50 value between the group of the extract drying method. In conclusiom, there was a not significant difference in the value of antoksidan activity for each sample dryied by different method.

Abstract

Outpatient pharmacy services in a hospital shows the quality of health service to the community. Data from the internal quality assurance report of Hospital ”X” in Padang showed that only 93.76% of non-compounded medication and 94.6% of compounded medication recipes met the waiting time standard. This study aimed to analyze the causes of the long waiting time for outpatient pharmacy services at Hospital “X”. The type of this research was a mix-method sequential type explanatory, conducted from February until May 2022. The quantitative design was a cross-sectional study of 141 for non-concoction and 35 for compounded medication recipes determined by quota sampling. Qualitative research was conducted on seven informants by purposive sampling. Observation, in-depth interviews, and document review collected data. Results showed that the average waiting time was 84.19 (standard ≤30) minutes for non-concoction and 164.58 (standard ≤60) minutes for compounded medication recipes. The causes of the long waiting time were a need for more staff, prescriptions outside the hospital formulary, equipment errors, and medicines delivery delays. There should be a job redesign by rearranging the shift picket for pharmacy staff, regular equipment maintenance, and updating standard operating procedures related to medicines delivery to the patients.

Abstract

Early reading ability is a crucial stage in primary education as it lays the foundation for students’ literacy development at the next levels. However, many first-grade students struggle with letter recognition, distinguishing similarly shaped letters, spelling words correctly, and understanding texts. This study aims to identify early reading difficulties among first-grade students at SDN Keranggan, South Tangerang. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using observation, interviews, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that several students face obstacles in recognizing letters, spelling words accurately, and comprehending reading materials. These difficulties arise due to a lack of practice at home and low learning motivation. Furthermore, students exhibit challenges in distinguishing visually similar letters, such as "b" and "d" or "p" and "q," which leads to errors in reading accuracy. To address these issues, teachers implement various strategies, including visual media, multisensory approaches, and picture-based reading exercises, which have shown a positive impact on students' reading proficiency. Additionally, parental involvement plays a crucial role in supporting children’s reading development, with activities such as reading together, using interactive learning tools, and fostering a reading-friendly environment. With adequate support from both the school and home environments, early reading difficulties can be minimized, allowing students to develop effectively and comprehend texts proficiently.
