Abstract

Background: Human resource management (HRM) practices are essential tools employed by hotel management to achieve organizational objectives.Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how HRM practices impact job satisfaction and employee retention in the hotel industry in Indonesia.Design/methodology/approach: This study used a completely random sample of 361 hotel employees from Indonesia. This study employed regression modeling on online survey collected data. Findings/Results: Research has demonstrated that human resource management (HRM) practices, including job security, empowerment, training, and quality of work life, have a substantial influence on employee retention rates. Furthermore, job satisfaction emerges as another critical determinant of the duration employees choose to stay with their present employer. Conclusions: Furthermore, the results of the regression analysis indicate that there is a direct link between HRM practices and employee retention. However, this connection is significantly stronger when job satisfaction levels are initially increased. As a result, effective HRM practices have been shown to enhance employee satisfaction, leading to greater loyalty and commitment to the company.Originality/value (state of the art): This study aims to enhance our understanding of the relationships between human resource management (HRM) practices, employee satisfaction, and employee retention. While previous research on the connection between HRM practices and employee satisfaction is limited, this study is noteworthy for exploring the effects of four dimensions of HRM practices on employee satisfaction, and how this in turn impacts employee retention. Data were collected from 230 employees of Insurance firms in Banten province, Indonesia employing a 15-item questionary. In total, 220 questionnaires were reverted, outcome in a reply rate of 95 percent. The model of mediating was analyzed and tested employing structural equation modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS)3.3.2. The finds indicated that SL had a positive between OC and JP confirming the OC role as a mediator. This result shows that managers are able to increase OC and JP by employing an SL style. Furthermore, the managerial fundamentals resulted from this finding must be considered a solution for increasing JP. The contribution of this results in the JP concept by giving a reasonable explanation of OC's role as a mediator in relating SL to JP Keywords: job performance, servant leadership, organizational commitment, Banten, SEM

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the determinants that impact the profitability of 20 banks in Indonesia period from 2013 to 2021, as low profitability reduces banks' ability and willingness to finance the broader economy. The study uses panel data analysis, conducting three profitability bank measures: the net interest margin, the return on assets, and the return on equity. Inflation and gross domestic product growth were control variables that had not been studied in prior studies. The study's findings indicate that capital adequacy ratio, nonperforming loans, operation expenses, and bank size have strong effects on profitability. The study also finds that inflation and gross domestic product growth variables influence bank profitability. The study also finds that the direction of causality is not consistent among bank’s profitability measurements. According to our knowledge, this study is the first to investigate internal and external determinants of bank profitability in Indonesia that have not been studied previously. Keywords: bank’s profitability, bank size, capital adequacy ratio, nonperforming loans, operating expenses
