Abstract

Content analysis in a quantitative research tradition is a method of communication science research and also for some of another social sciences branch. The quantitative content analysis is in the scope of positivistic paradigm that put its researcher as a neutral scientist who do not take a side and forbidden prohibited to product opinion. The researcher is only need to collect and then categorizing meaning of a content such as text, image, sign, and symbol. Content analysis is also able to test a hipotetic using deductive methode by series of statistic test. In communication sciences, this research methode model would powerful to answer how the media effect which impact to public and analyzing the people all at once. The difference between social construct in society and the recontructed reality by the media would being explained using this great methode. Content analysis is capable to measure the accuracy level of message producer and where it?s inclined.

Abstract

Media cannot be separated from human lives, especially in digital era (IR 4.0); they aim to spread information to public and as a consequence affect public perspectives and behavior. From this point, media eventually functions to drive public opinion which in politics determine voter's choices; which in other words, media become political tools. Utilization of media for politics is significant as a winning strategy to increase electability of candidates and parties.

Abstract

The key determinants in the extension of Islamic values and practices to a particular rural community lies in the specific meticulous strategies in order to result in the expected outcome. This study qualitatively elaborates scrupulous decent strategies in the extension of Islam to the Dayak tribe on Meratus mountain. The strategies proposed are formulated from to field observation where the researcher participated directly in the act of the community and conducted deep interviews with the indigenous people. The data are analyzed using Miles and Hubberman's cyclic data analysis. The validity and credibility of the data are checked through external validity and triangulation of data sources and methods. The effectiveness of extension and communication strategies are discussed through the viewpoint of extension and communication studies. The preaching of Islam to the community relies on religious axioms that are discussed through the viewpoint of religious studies. Meanwhile, an ethnographic approach is used to understand the life of the Meratus Dayak tribe as the target of the extension. The results of this study is expected to reveal opportunities in extending Islamic values into the life of Meratus Dayak tribe as it shows the traditional values of their heritage. Appreciations and harmonious relationship to their culture and tradition determines the success of Islamic religious extension to their community.
