Abstract

Special school for the deaf (SLB-B) in West Surabaya is a special education facility for deaf people in East Java which aims to develop deaf people to become independent and ready for global competition. The school was specially designed according to the characteristics and behaviors of deaf people who have limitations in receiving verbal information (sounds), due to disability in their hearing senses from birth or birth defects, so that the deaf is more likely to rely on the sense of sight to be able to receive information. However, now we live in a world that relies on delivering information through voice media. Therefore, there needs to be a place where the deaf is able to adapt to the environment more and gain education before they are finally ready in the real global competition. Based on these issues, this study aims to design an educational building specifically designed for the deaf (deaf space), with the theme "see the world, face the future" which can be interpreted that education is one of the most important things in human life, education can open knowledge and knowledge to the greatest extent so that with good education people will be more prepared to face global competition in the future.

Abstract

Juanda Airport is an international airport that is one of the infrastructure that is relied on by the Surabaya City government and the East Java provincial government to improve the economy of East Java. The increasing need for air transportation has made Juanda airport require development efforts to meet the needs of users from both locally and internationally while at the same time implementing the policies of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia regarding mass transportation. This study examines the importance of airport train stations presence as a form of transportation integration within the city. As the final result, this study submitted a design proposal with the theme chosen according to the conditions and context suitable for the Juanda airport train station. The airport train station proposal location is in the terminal 1 area of Juanda airport which is right in front of terminal 1. Based on the location, there are several problems, namely access to the station for passengers from terminal 2 and terminal 3 plans, vehicle movement patterns and passenger movement in airport train station operations, and the station's position is right in front of terminal 1 of the airport, this affects the appearance (identity) of joglo terminal 1. From the problems above the design proposal uses the theme "complement polarity" using the postmodern approach. Thus the Juanda airport train station is expected to be able to adjust to the system that has taken place at Juanda airport without disturbing each other.

Abstract

Sleman Regency, has a tourism potential that is high enough if optimized can provide a positive influence on the surrounding community. One of the tourist villages that has potential in Ds. Sendangagung Dsn. Brajan, Kec. Step aside. To produce tourism that is of interest to tourists, it is necessary to develop tourist facilities, namely: 1) Lodging that until now still uses the homes of local residents; 2) Bamboo Classes for Packages for Existence of Learning Bamboo Crafts; 3) Performance area as a place for performing dance and gamelan performances; 4) Bamboo Art Gallery and 5) Bamboo Shop as a container for handicrafts by craftsmen and visitors of tourist villages. The location of the site is an empty land area of approximately 20,000m². From several facts, the issues and goals that have been analyzed appear a red thread which is then used as the design theme, "When Nature Meet Art". The intention is to express the identity of the natural beauty of the Brajan Bamboo Tourism Village and the bamboo handicrafts produced. The design approach uses Localism to manifest buildings towards the environment in the realm of tradition, culture & social. So that the resulting design is able to realize a tourist area that is able to synergize between buildings with natural, cultural, and local wisdom comprehensively.

Abstract

Station is a facility and infrastructure used to support train passengers. Development in the station area is expected to be a solution and can optimize the added value of management and can be an alternative to public transportation. Each region has its own characteristics and characteristics. Java is an area that still holds customs and culture. Javanese buildings are synonymous with ethical values and aesthetic values. Variety of Javanese building ornaments in the form of ornaments that have a philosophy as a clue to the level of degrees. But now the value of Javanese culture began to fade along with the times. The application of Javanese architectural ornaments to station buildings in Indonesia is one form of way to maintain and introduce the local culture of an area through building facilities. This research aims to examine the application of Javanese Architectural ornaments to railway station buildings in Indonesia. The method used is qualitative descriptive using a qualitative rationalistic analysis approach. With secondary data collection techniques and utilizing library study data, media analysis, and observation. The results showed that many train stations still use heritage architecture, however, elements of Javanese langgam in the form of ornaments appeared in buildings which are a form of cultural acculturation between countries.

Abstract

Southeast Asia with tropical regions has unique climate characteristics, such as high humidity, significant rainfall intensity throughout the year and high temperatures. These conditions require an architectural approach that is responsive to climate in order to create thermal comfort in buildings. The purpose of this study is to identify what architectural elements are considered appropriate to be applied in building design in tropical Southeast Asia. The methods used in this study include literature studies and case study analysis of several buildings designed with a tropical approach in the region. Through this approach, it is hoped that this study can provide an initial overview of architectural elements that have the potential to support adaptive designs to tropical climate conditions. The results of this study will be the basis for the development of contextual and sustainable tropical architectural designs.
