Abstract

This study investigates the structural and vibrational properties of Cu-Ag-In-S/CdSe core/shell quantum dots (QDs) grown on the mesoporous TiO2 (mp-TiO2) substrates using Raman spectroscopy and 3D Raman mapping.  The Raman spectra revealed distinct vibrational modes of AgInS2 and CdSe, compared to Cu-Ag-In-S, with a notable shift observed in the A1 mode (282.2 cm-1 to 260.8 cm-1), E and B2 modes (316.7 cm-1 to 326.4 cm-1), and an additional Cu-S mode (289.3 cm-1 to 283.4 cm-1). These shifts indicate significant interactions between the QDs and the substrate, as well as the presence of Cu and CdSe phases. 3D mapping provided spatial distribution data, showing enhanced Cu-incorporation and morphological variations across the substrates, with darker regions signifying Cu-enriched areas. The alterations in the Raman spectrum suggest a strong interaction between Cu-Ag-In-S and CdSe. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Cu-Ag-In-S/CdSe QDs, highlighting their potential to optoelectronic application.

Abstract

Organic perovskites or inorganic perovskites are very popular among researchers who are designing the most efficient perovskite solar cells. Besides, they can be used as materials for other optoelectronic applications, such as light-emitting diodes. In this paper, we reported the results of studies on the electronic property of LiSnX3 (X = F, Cl, Br, or I) perovskite in the cubic phase. This electronic property is the density of states, which one can determine the band gap energy value. These studies were undertaken to understand the relation between their band gap energy and lattice constant through anion X variations. The Quantum ESPRESSO program calculated These two crucial quantities with norm-conserving Troullier-Martins pseudopotentials and Generalized Gradient Approximation Perdew-Burke-Enzerhof exchange-correlation functional. The computation results show that the band gap energy ranged from 0,3 eV to 0,99 eV while the lattice constant ranged from 6,183 Å to 4,625 Å for anion halide from I till F, respectively. The contrast trend between these quantities' values matches the Kronig-Penney Model.

Abstract

Kombucha is a well-known health probiotic drink. Kombucha was first used in East Asia (Manchuria) in the Tsin Dynasty around 220 BC which was used for detoxification. This probiotic drink is a fresh drink from a slightly sweet, slightly acidic tea that is consumed worldwide. Kombucha tea is obtained from tea leaf infusion by fermentation with SCOBY (symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria). The taste of the fermented tea is like apple cider vinegar. With the development of The Kombucha era, it has been studied by many researchers and provides excellent health benefits including as a source of antioxidants to prevent free radicals, antibacterial, anticancer, for diabetes, cardiovascular (heart disease), digestive problems and low body immunity because age factor. In the Mandailing sub-district, Tebing Tinggi city, there is a lack of public awareness of health. With the training in making kombucha probiotic drink, it is hoped that residents in that area can apply this health drink to improve a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Sialang Village is one of the villages in North Sumatra, precisely located in Bangun Purba District, Deli Serdang Regency. The village is surrounded by oil palm plantations, both company-owned and private, with the main livelihood of the villagers working on oil palm plantations and also raising cattle. The village's potential to produce palm fronds waste is very large, but the villagers do not use palm fronds waste because they do not know how to treat this waste. Meanwhile, grass as animal feed has become increasingly difficult to obtain from time to time because residents have maximized the use of empty land for planting oil palm. Therefore, the University of North Sumatra community service team wants to apply science and technology in Sialang Village in the form of transfer of knowledge and technology on processing palm frond waste into animal feed integrated with chopper machines.

Abstract

In the realm of education, one of the challenges encountered is the limited ability of teachers to utilize science laboratory equipment and create engaging visualizations for classroom learning. This issue adversely affects students' mastery of science concepts. To address this problem, teachers need to use teaching media as aids in the learning process, which is expected to improve student learning outcomes significantly. One proposed medium is using science teaching aids and the Biorender application, which play a critical role in helping students understand the concepts being taught. Students are expected to comprehend the material more efficiently by using teaching aids and modules, reinforcing conceptual mastery, developing skills, and increasing their learning interests. The methods used in this activity included lectures and practical tutorials, where teachers were introduced to the use of science teaching aids and the application of Biorender to create engaging visualizations for classroom teaching. After participating in this activity, SD Negeri 173637 Narumonda teachers gained additional knowledge. They acquired new skills in using science teaching aids and the Biorender application. This enables them to implement more engaging and effective teaching techniques in science lessons, improving students' understanding and interest in learning.
