Abstract

Biomass waste utilization can be one solution to find another alternative fuels that can be renewable. Two kinds of biomass which were used in this research are mud cake (produce from rotary vacuum filter in sugar production process) which was used as the raw material and molasses which was used as an adhesive. First, the mud cake was dried and pyrolyzed became charcoal. Then, the charcoal mixed with water and molasses, formed into a cylindrical shape, and dried it up to be a combustible bio briquettes. The quality of bio briquette was dependent on kind of raw materials, quantity of adhesive, temperature of pyrolysis, and compaction pressure. The result: the lower pyrolysis temperature, the more yield of charcoal, but it followed by the shorter flaming time, the shorter combustion time, and lower calorific value. Besides, the more molasses use, the bio briquette become more compact and more flammable but it had shorter combustion time. Pyrolysis temperature influences the compressive strength, besides, amount of adhesive influences the flaming time and combustion time. Overall, the best bio briquette can be produced with conditions of pyrolysis temperature 600 °C and ratio between molasses and charcoal 0.3.

Abstract

This study investigates the structural and vibrational properties of Cu-Ag-In-S/CdSe core/shell quantum dots (QDs) grown on the mesoporous TiO2 (mp-TiO2) substrates using Raman spectroscopy and 3D Raman mapping.  The Raman spectra revealed distinct vibrational modes of AgInS2 and CdSe, compared to Cu-Ag-In-S, with a notable shift observed in the A1 mode (282.2 cm-1 to 260.8 cm-1), E and B2 modes (316.7 cm-1 to 326.4 cm-1), and an additional Cu-S mode (289.3 cm-1 to 283.4 cm-1). These shifts indicate significant interactions between the QDs and the substrate, as well as the presence of Cu and CdSe phases. 3D mapping provided spatial distribution data, showing enhanced Cu-incorporation and morphological variations across the substrates, with darker regions signifying Cu-enriched areas. The alterations in the Raman spectrum suggest a strong interaction between Cu-Ag-In-S and CdSe. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Cu-Ag-In-S/CdSe QDs, highlighting their potential to optoelectronic application.

Abstract

Kombucha is a well-known health probiotic drink. Kombucha was first used in East Asia (Manchuria) in the Tsin Dynasty around 220 BC which was used for detoxification. This probiotic drink is a fresh drink from a slightly sweet, slightly acidic tea that is consumed worldwide. Kombucha tea is obtained from tea leaf infusion by fermentation with SCOBY (symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria). The taste of the fermented tea is like apple cider vinegar. With the development of The Kombucha era, it has been studied by many researchers and provides excellent health benefits including as a source of antioxidants to prevent free radicals, antibacterial, anticancer, for diabetes, cardiovascular (heart disease), digestive problems and low body immunity because age factor. In the Mandailing sub-district, Tebing Tinggi city, there is a lack of public awareness of health. With the training in making kombucha probiotic drink, it is hoped that residents in that area can apply this health drink to improve a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

After the millennium era, with the rapid development of information technology, changes in business patterns also increased sharply. This is what is called the era of disruption. IT technology has also penetrated the world of education, both in management and in learning methods. In the world of education, now the learning method does not only use conventional methods such as from textbooks and explanations from teachers, but also with effective and efficient learning methods by utilizing information technology. An example is multimedia-based learning media. Community service is one way that can be used to carry out information technology socialization. Community service that will be carried out in this research is entitled Utilization of Information Technology in the Implementation of Active Learning in SMA Negeri 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar in Facing the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, with the aim of helping teachers in a more interesting interactive and fun mathematics learning process, because In general, junior high school students have used a lot of telecommunications devices equipped with various kinds of multimedia. The learning application that is built includes material, exercises and tests, in accordance with applicable competency standards. Furthermore, training will be given to several senior high schools, as a provision on how to prepare and use this learning system application so as to increase student motivation and ultimately increase student achievement and improve the quality of education.

Abstract

The utilization of aromatherapy is well known by the public. The fastest-selling and accepted product is aromatherapy medicated oil. Aromatherapy products are beneficial for health to relax the body, refresh the mind, to improve mood, and as a placebo in healing diseases that have physiological effects. Aromatherapy is applied to the skin, causing essential oils to penetrate into the body's system, and then helps reduce diseases, such as depression, headaches, insomnia, muscle aches, respiratory disorders, joint disorders. By empowering the manufacture of aromatherapy medicated oil for PKK women in Tebing Tinggi Urban Village, they will be able to increase productivity in terms of economy and health. Hypothesis testing, using the Wilcoxon Difference Test with the JASP application stated that there was an increase in the knowledge of the participants of community service activities after participating it. Based on effect size, it can be concluded that service activities have a strong role in increasing participants' knowledge about aromatherapy medicated oil.

Abstract

In the realm of education, one of the challenges encountered is the limited ability of teachers to utilize science laboratory equipment and create engaging visualizations for classroom learning. This issue adversely affects students' mastery of science concepts. To address this problem, teachers need to use teaching media as aids in the learning process, which is expected to improve student learning outcomes significantly. One proposed medium is using science teaching aids and the Biorender application, which play a critical role in helping students understand the concepts being taught. Students are expected to comprehend the material more efficiently by using teaching aids and modules, reinforcing conceptual mastery, developing skills, and increasing their learning interests. The methods used in this activity included lectures and practical tutorials, where teachers were introduced to the use of science teaching aids and the application of Biorender to create engaging visualizations for classroom teaching. After participating in this activity, SD Negeri 173637 Narumonda teachers gained additional knowledge. They acquired new skills in using science teaching aids and the Biorender application. This enables them to implement more engaging and effective teaching techniques in science lessons, improving students' understanding and interest in learning.
