Abstract

Industri gitar di Desa Mancasan, Baki, Kabupaten Sukoharjo adalah salah satu sektor ekonomi yang memiliki potensi besar. Mayoritas pelaku industri adalah Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM). Namun, produksinya telah menembus pasar ekspor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang bagaimana memberdayakan komunitas pengrajin gitar di Desa Mancasan, Baki, Kabupaten Sukoharjo menuju pasar global. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan objek penelitian adalah UMKM pengrajin gitar di Desa Mancasan, Baki, Sukoharjo. Sumber data primer dan sekunder dikumpulkan melalui teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi dan analisis dokumen. Data yang dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model analisis interaktif untuk mendapatkan jawaban dari perumusan masalah. Hasil penelitian dipetakan ke dalam empat aspek, berupa : bina manusia, bina usaha, bina lingkungan, dan bina kelembagaan, dan dilengkapi dengan strategi ekspor. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemerintah memiliki peran dalam mengelola keempat aspek ini, walaupun belum maksimal. Peran terbesar pemerintah dalam pengembangan manusia terletak pada bimbingan teknis, sedangkan dalam aspek bina usaha dalam hal mendirikan badan usaha yang legal. Dalam strategi ekspor, hanya beberapa bisnis yang dapat menembus pasar ekspor. Sementara mayoritas UKM telah mencoba memperluas pasar ekspor tetapi masih dalam proses.

Abstract

Europe experienced an immigrant crisis in 2015 which made the European Union to respond to the immigrant crisis. Thisresearch analyzes the policy of the European Union on the 2015-2018 immigrant crisis in the theory of securitization. Thepurpose of this research is to find out how the analysis of the theory of securitization in the European Union's policy towardsimmigrants in 2015. This research uses a qualitative research method with the collection of data used is the Library Researchmethod. This research uses the theory of securitization and regionalism which is used to explain the position of the EuropeanUnion as a supranational body that regulates or has responsibility for its member countries. The result of this research is thatin the process of securitization it is seen that there are some right-wing figures from the member states of the European Unionwho strongly oppose the entry of Immigrants into European territory. In addition, there is the role of the media and socialorganizations that are anti-immigrant and have influenced the European Union in taking policies to deal with the immigrantcrisis. This proves that securitization has a strong influence in changing the point of view of an event. So, securitization canalso be implemented not only for refugee problems but for other problems.Keywords: European Union, Immigrant Crisis, Regionalism, Securitization

Abstract

Digital transformation has presented gig economy with its complexity.  In Indonesia, where technology is widely used, gig economy is viewed as a growth driver. Even so, there have been various dynamics from economic and political interests in the development of the gig economy. This research aims to analyze the political policies development of the gig economy in Indonesia, as Indonesian government response to developments in Indonesia's gig economy. The analysis was using qualitative research methods, with a library research approach. Data collected then interpreted and understood through descriptive and narrative analysis. The research found that the Indonesian government considers the gig economy is an opportunity for many workers. However, the government's response through its political policies seems inconsistent and only gave partial response based on the problems. The government wants to encourage the gig economy as an opportunity to advance the country's economy, such as through tax collection, and tried to provide a response and protection needs for gig workers. However, there are still regulatory limitations that cannot guarantee and protect the interests of the security and future of gig workers. In a political economy analysis, this condition shows the low level of sustainability in guarding the development of a gigantic economy.

Abstract

GVC memberikan banyak keuntungan bagi negara yang menerapkan sistem tersebut. Salah satunya adalah meningkatkan produktivitas dan pertumbuhan ekonomi negara yang terlibat GVC, terutama bagi negara berkembang. Thailand memiliki potensi buah tropis yang sangat besar dan dapat memproduksi buah tropis dengan kualitas yang baik. Hal tersebut membuat ekspor buah tropis Thailand dalam penguatan GVC memiliki posisi yang relatif signifikan di pasar global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penguatan ekonomi lokal Thailand melalui Global Value Chain (GVC) ekspor buah tropis pada tahun 2017-2022. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dan dianalisis menggunakan teori perdagangan internasional serta konsep dari Global Value Chain (GVC) membahas partisipasi buah tropis Thailand Dalam GVC dan pengaruhnya terhadap penguatan ekonomi lokal. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan GVC buah tropis Thailand memberikan pengaruh dalam produktivitas dan pertumbuhan ekonomi negara. Terlepas dari kendala yang ada, Thailand memegang posisi yang relatif signifikan dalam GVC buah tropisnya, terutama pada komoditas durian dan mangga. Melalui GVC dan adanya aktivitas ekonomi yang lebih intensif, buah tropis Thailand turut berkontribusi pada Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) negara Thailand di daerah produksi terbesarnya, serta menciptakan banyak lapangan kerja terutama bagi petani kecil. Hal tersebut juga didukung dengan adanya lingkungan kebijakan yang mendukung peningkatan perekonomian.

Abstract

United States-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership Agreement merupakan bentuk kerja sama kemitraan komprehensif antara Amerika Serikat dan Indonesia. Salah satu bidang kerja sama yang dilakukan adalah keamanan maritim. Kerja sama keamanan maritim dilakukan sejalan dengan adanya visi misi Indonesia sebagai Poros Maritim Dunia dan bentuk penjagaan di maritim dari berbagai ancaman yang ada. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh United States-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership Agreement terhadap kerja sama keamanan maritim Amerika Serikat dan Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan menggunakan sumber data sekunder untuk mengetahui kronologi terbentuknya kemitraan komprehensif Amerika Serikat dan Indonesia dan pengaruhnya terhadap kerja sama keamanan maritim. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa United States-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership Agreement berpengaruh terhadap kerja sama keamanan maritim Amerika Serikat dan Indonesia berupa terjadi peningkatan penangkapan tindakan illegal fishing di perairan Indonesia dan kebijakan penenggelaman kapal bagi kapal-kapal yang melakukan tindakan ilegal.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze how KFC, as a multinational corporation (MNC), influences the political economy of Japan as a host country. Methods: The study employs a qualitative descriptive research method, utilizing a literature review approach. Data analysis is conducted using Miles and Huberman's qualitative analysis framework, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. Results: The study finds that MNCs can significantly impact the political economy of host countries. In the case of KFC in Japan, the influence is evident through economic growth driven by foreign direct investment, which creates jobs and boosts local income. Additionally, KFC introduces advanced management, operational, and marketing technologies, enhancing efficiency and productivity in the local fast food industry. Cooperation with local suppliers also stimulates growth in the agricultural sector and related industries in Japan. Limitations: This study is limited to a case study of a single MNC in one host country, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings to other political economy contexts. Contribution: This research contributes to the field of international relations, particularly within the concentration of global political economy studies, by providing insights into the impact of MNCs on the political and economic dynamics of host countries.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the Belt and Road Initiative program, which aims to create a new trade route connecting China to various countries using the Silk Route. The project was created through cooperation between China and many countries, including Malaysia. Malaysia rejected the BRI in 2018 but continued with a new agreement. This study aims to determine the impact of the BRI scheme on Malaysia's geopolitics and economy. This research employs two analytical lenses: geopolitics and international cooperation. It examines the regional dynamics that have emerged due to Malaysia's partnership with the BRI and assesses the potential impact of BRI at the domestic level. Qualitative research methods were used, and data was collected through library research. The research indicates that Malaysia's geopolitics have shifted following the implementation of the BRI scheme, resulting in an economic upturn through the utilization of the newly constructed infrastructure. BRI has had a positive impact on Malaysia. Specifically, it has led to an increase in container traffic and contributed to the country's GDP. Additionally, the BRI has helped to develop Malaysia's Eastern region. The results of BRI have affected Malaysia's position in both geopolitical and economic aspects within ASEAN. In conclusion, the BRI has positively impacted Malaysia since its reinstatement in 2018.

Abstract

Technological advancements have brought teenagers closer to social media. However, massive exposure to social media without adequate digital intelligence, can lead to various problems, such as the rampant spread of hoaxes, hate speech, propaganda, and radicalized content. This has the potential to affect the way teenagers think and behave. This condition was experienced by teenagers in Karangwuni Village, Sukoharjo Regency, as partners of this activity. Based on the situation analysis, it was found that the low digital literacy among teenagers resulted in a lack of critical awareness in responding to information circulating on social media. This program aims to strengthen digital intelligence as a foundation for teenagers to be able to think creatively and critically in social media. The methods used was socialization, focus group discussions, and mentoring to improve participants' understanding and skills in filtering information, avoiding the negative impacts of social media, and optimizing digital media for self-development. The results showed participants' understanding increase about digital intelligence, social media ethics, and critical strategies in dealing with information in the digital world. In addition, the implementation of this understanding is reflected in changes in participants' attitudes and behaviors in utilizing social media more responsibly and productively. These findings indicate that strengthening digital intelligence can be a key factor in shaping a young generation that is not only adaptive to technological developments, but also able to use social media creatively and critically

Abstract

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects initiated by China since 2013 have been implemented in various countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia, where there are BRI corridors passing through these continents, including Vietnam. The purpose of this research is to assess the impact of the BRI on Vietnam's economy by examining tangible benefits for the Vietnamese people. The methods employed in this study include Geopolitics and international cooperation, which are highly evident in the BRI project processes. The results of this research indicate that Vietnam indeed requires investment to develop its insufficient infrastructure facilities. Moreover, based on the collected data, Vietnam needs substantial investment funds for infrastructure development. With the implementation of BRI in Vietnam, it will make it easier for Chinese investment funds to enter. Therefore, the BRI plays a crucial role in facilitating Vietnam's infrastructure development by providing investment funds. In this study, the relationship between infrastructure development, China's motives in the BRI, and the economic growth of Vietnam will be discussed in the context of this research. Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana agenda populis melatarbelakangi keputusan Presiden Argentina Javier Milei menolak undangan keanggotaan BRICS. Milei terpilih sebagai presiden di tengah kondisi krisis ekonomi berkepanjangan, menawarkan  perubahan radikal berbasis ideologi libertarian sebagai jawaban atas kekecewaan publik terhadap status quo. Milei memutuskan menolak undangan keanggotaan BRICS, setelah semasa pemilu menunjukkan sikap konfrontatif terhadap dua mitra dagang utama sekaligus anggota BRICS, China dan Brazil. Konsep populisme dan teori peran digunakan sebagai landasan teoretis. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini menggunakan sumber data literatur. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa populisme mengarahkan Milei menjadikan politik luar negeri sebagai kepanjangan tangan pertarungan politik domestik melawan ideologi kompetitor. Penolakan BRICS bertujuan untuk menegaskan legitimasi melalui perubahan orientasi politik luar negeri mendekat pada Amerika Serikat; mobilisasi dukungan melalui pembingkaian narasi pro kebebasan dan anti sosialisme-komunisme; serta penempatan prioritas utama pada insentif domestik dalam pelaksanaan politik luar negeri. Penelitian ini menawarkan perspektif mengenai bagaimana pemimpin populis memanfaatkan kebijakan luar negeri untuk kepentingan domestik mengonsolidasikan dukungan dan legitimasi politik. Kata Kunci: Argentina; BRICS; Javier Milei; populisme; teori peran.
