Abstract

Coffee is a source of foreign exchange, a source of income for farmers and industrial raw materials producers. This study is aimed to describ competitiveness and to analyze the factors influencing the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in international markets in Year 1996-2015. The data used was 20 years-time series data. The competitiveness of Indonesian coffee exports in the international market is presented descriptively and the factors that influence the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in the international market are analyzed by using multiple linear regression models. The results show that Indonesian coffee was competitive both in comparative and competitive in the international market. Coffee export volume and domestic coffee production have a positive effect, while Indonesia's domestic consumption and GDP have a negative effect on the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee exports in the international market. Increasing competitiveness of Indonesian coffee exports is obtained through increased quality and quantity of coffee production. The increase in export volume can be done through export policies in the form of export subsidies and removing export barriers. The increase in export volume will increase export competitiveness in the international market.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Analyze the development of Indonesian CPO export competitiveness in the global market from 1998 to 2017 (2) Analyze factors affecting the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO export in the global market from 1998 to 2017. The data used is time series spanning 20 years (1998-2017). The competitiveness of Indonesian CPO export in the global market is presented descriptively in the form of images, while affecting factors are analyzed using a multiple linear regression model. The results show that Indonesian CPO has comparative and competitive competitiveness in the global market. The results of multiple linear regression tests indicate that the factors that comparatively affect the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO exports in the global market are domestic CPO production, global CPO prices and petroleum prices while factors that competitively affect competitiveness are oil palm plantation area, Malaysian export volume, soybean oil price and exchange rates. Factors that positively impact Indonesian CPO competitiveness are domestic CPO production, oil prices and the oil palm plantation area. Improving these variables will increase the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO exports, while an increase in global CPO prices, soybean oil prices and the exchange rate will reduce the competitiveness of CPO exports. The variable that has no significant effect is the export volume of Malaysia.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of fulfilling the employment rights of female workers at 3 (three) palm oil plantation companies in Muaro Jambi Regency. This research uses the Mills & Huberman (1984) method. The research results show that in the palm oil plantation business hierarchy, women always occupy the affected levels, are limited in accessing work and career development, occupy temporary worker positions, are paid low wages and receive relatively little reproductive protection. The traditional view of stereotypes of suitability for work is the reason that occupational segregation based on gender has been maintained for generations, placing female workers in a weak position and in unfair working conditions. The number of genders doing a job is still the strongest basis for someone to classify jobs into men's and women's jobs. For the academic world and the business community in general, it is hoped that the results of this research will provide insight regarding the classification of gender-based job stereotypes, especially in Indonesia. Meanwhile, for industry, the results of this research can be a basis for creating gender-responsive labor regulations.

Abstract

The cost of rejuvenating smallholder palm oil in the funding framework of the Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (BPDPKS) is currently IDR 30 million per hectare/planter, which is still less than what is needed. The objectives of this research are 1. To describe the activities of Rejuvenating People's Palm Oil Plantations in KUD Sawit Kita, 2. Identifying the components of utilization of costs for Rejuvenating People's Oil Palm Plantations in KUD Sawit Kita, 3. Analyzing and evaluating the efficiency of utilizing costs for Rejuvenating People's Oil Palm Plantations in KUD Sawit We, and 4. Formulate detailed costs for efficient rejuvenation of people's oil palm plantations for our palm oil cooperatives.  The research method uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. KUD Sawit Kita, founded in 1991, was the first institution to receive PSR fees within the BPDPKS framework in West Tanjung Jabung Regency. Activities for Rejuvenating People's Palm Oil Plantations in KUD Sawit Kita P0-P3 include clearing land, providing ready-to-plant seeds, providing basic fertilizer, building and planting ground cover crops, providing P1-P3 fertilizer, controlling pests and diseases, building and rehabilitating Soil Conservation Buildings and Water, infrastructure rehabilitation, and monitoring. Based on the research results, it was found that the costs for rejuvenating people's oil palm plantations in KUD Sawit Kita were sourced from BPDPKS and independent smallholders. Based on the Efficiency Benchmark (ETU) P0-P3 value of 0.554, the Community Oil Palm Plantation Rejuvenation activity in KUD Sawit Kita is efficient but technically the work is considered not. The formulation of costs for rejuvenating people's oil palm plantations in KUD Sawit. We ideally follow the technical recommendations of Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) which is IDR. 55,181,551,-/Ha. So the current costs for rejuvenating people's oil palm plantations, which are channeled through BPDPKS, are indeed not enough.
