Abstract

The aims of this research explained how the past, present, and future thoughts help to form the decision of an alumnus is still nineteen years old in explored a hobby and dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. From interviews and analyses made, information gathered shows that the interviewee's past has generated confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility that contribute to the decision. The current situation experienced by the interviewee which is full support from parents and the ability to think rationality about her plan, enables her to make this decision. The interviewee also viewed her future with an acceptable plan supported by her family business as the last resort if her plan cannot be fruitful. This research opens an opportunity for stakeholders in the education field to understand and interpret this unorthodox life story wisely.

Abstract

Penelitian mengenai komitmen kerja dan Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) secara umum cukup sering dilakukan. Namun penelitian dua variabel ini pada generasi milenial yang bekerja di industri pendidikan Indonesia belum banyak ditemukan. Akibatnya, konklusi yang mapan pun belum terbentuk untuk menggambarkan keadaan lapangan ini. Padahal, dua hal ini penting untuk diteliti dan dimaknai di Indonesia yang memiliki generasi milenial sebesar lebih dari 60 juta jiwa. Fakta ini menjadi dasar penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk menguji kebenaran dari variabel-variabel yang diduga dapat membentuk komitmen kerja dan OCB, yaitu variabel independen persepsi dukungan organisasi serta kepuasan kerja. Kuesioner menggunakan target populasi karyawan generasi milenial di Jakarta dan kota-kota satelit sekitarnya, kemudian dibagikan kepada 100 responden. Analisis jalur/path analysis dilakukan dengan menggunakan aplikasi SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persepsi dukungan organisasi mampu mempengaruhi kepuasan kerja, lalu kepuasan kerja pun mempengaruhi baik komitmen kerja maupun OCB. Namun, terbukti bahwa komitmen kerja tidak mempengaruhi OCB. Melalui hasil penelitian ini, diusulkan agar pihak manajemen di dunia pendidikan dapat mengambil berbagai tindakan inovatif dan strategis yang sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi milenial. Untuk berbagai penelitian selanjutnya, diharapkan memperkaya pemahaman akan variabel-variabel lain yang mampu meningkatkan komitmen dan OCB pada generasi ini
