Abstract

Rare Earth Elements (REEs) are strategically important for the industry, especially in the manufacture of high-technology products and components, such as electric batteries for energy storage, energy conversion, defense and security industry, electric vehicles, components on smartphones, laptops, liquid crystal display, and others. Generally, REEs are processed by liquid-liquid extraction. However, this process is very costly due to the use of chemicals and high operational costs, so the waste has the potential to pollute the environment. Currently, innovative separation/recovery techniques are continuously being developed for effective and environmentally friendly extraction of rare earths. The adsorption method using the optimal adsorbent is one of the most efficient methods for recovering REEs at low concentrations. This method offers several advantages, including high release effectiveness, ease of installation and operation, low maintenance costs, and reduced chemical consumption. This study reviews the mechanism, characterization, and several adsorbents from natural to synthetic materials, especially nanocomposite-based adsorbents for the recovery of rare earths. In addition, the discussion of several parameters that affect the adsorbent. However, the results of several methodological breakthroughs that have been carried out show how much further research is needed

Abstract

Snack bars are processed food products that shaped rectangular or like a bar. Snack bar in this study used ingredients of barley flour and mocaf. Barley is a potential ingredient as a source of dietary fiber and gluten-free mocaf can fix the texture of barley. One of the factors that affects the quality of the snack bar is the baking process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature and baking time on the characteristics of physical, chemical, and sensory of the snack bar, and to determine best formulation of the temperature and baking time of the snack bar. The design applied was a completely randomized design with two factors consisting baking temperature of 130 and 160°C, and baking time of 20 minutes and 40 minutes. The results showed that baking time had a significant effect on the values of a and b, but not significant on the value of L. Baking temperature and time had a significant effect on the level of preference for texture, color, overall and on texture and color on sensory quality. However, it had no significant effect on aroma and taste. The baking temperature had a significant effect on the moisture content, but roasting time had no significant effect. The best snack bar was that baked at 160ºC, 20 minutes. The best formulation of snack bar contains nutrients, water content of 15%, ash of 1.906%, fat 19.447%, protein 21.012%, carbohydrates 42.635%, dietary fiber 11.262% and total calories 429 kcal.

Abstract

Abstract

Leadership styles applied by elementary school principals in each of these regions. Researchers chose the Almaliki Dawuhan Lor Sukodono Lumajang KB Preschool which is in Dawuhan Lor Sukodono Lumajang Village. The aim of this research is to determine the leadership style applied by the principal at PAUD KB Almaliki Dawuhan Lor Sukodono Lumajang. There are 4 types of leadership styles that may be applied by school principals, namely autocratic, laissez-faire, democratic and pseudo-democratic. This research is qualitative research using the descriptive method with the research location at PAUD KB Almaliki Dawuhan Lor Sukodono Lumajang, starting in July 2023 with the research subjects being principals, teachers, committee members and school supervisors respectively. This research data was obtained from interviews, observation and documentation. The data that has been collected is then tested for validity by testing credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability. Next, the data was analyzed using an interactive model whose analysis process was divided into 4 stages, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation and ending with drawing conclusions. Based on the analysis of research data that has been carried out, the results of the research show that the leadership style applied by the principal at PAUD KB Almaliki Dawuhan Lor Sukodono Lumajang is a democratic leadership style that always emphasizes openness of information, freedom of opinion, controlled freedom in carrying out learning, and togetherness. -Equally with all parties in every decision making.

Abstract

Rare earth elements (REEs) from secondary resources need to be purified before being used as critical raw materials. A novel type of carbon nanotube (CNT)--based composite sorbent has been developed to adsorb REE metal ions from a low concentration of aqueous solution. The composite sorbents prepared from HEMA, CNC, and CNT were characterized by FTIR and their adsorption properties by ICP-OES. The results showed that the adsorption performance of sorbents depends on their constituting materials and the pH of the feeding solution. The presence of CNTs in the sorbents helps increase adsorption efficiency while increasing contact time. The highest adsorption efficiency (98%) was achieved at pH 4 with a contact time of 90 minutes. The prepared composite sorbents showed better adsorption selectivity for cerium (Ce3+) ions than neodymium (Nd3+) and lanthanum (La3+).
