Abstract

AbstractThe background of this research is a hope of researcher to knows the sirculation service in IAIN Pontianak. The aim of this research is describe how important an optimality of sirculation service. In this research, the researcher using a descriptive method with quality approach. The technique of collecting data is doing by observation, interview and documentation with informan subject such as a library principal, a management employee and the sirculation service. The result of this research can show the sirculation service in IAIN Pontianak library is on processing of optimality, the one of problem the process is unavailable a computer to acces an OPAC. The alternative who given the library is the library user can looking for the book is doing by ask to the librarian. Keywords: Circulation service, College library, IAIN Pontianak

Abstract

AbstractThis research discussed about the quality improvement of reference service of Pontianak state polytechnic library.The aims of this researchwere to find out the efforts ofthe improvement of service quality and the obstacles. The method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach that could be used as a guide so that the focus of the research was in accordance with the facts. The data collections were done by observation, interview and documentation. Conducted by researchers on informants, namely the first librarians and visitors who came to Pontianak state polytechnic library.The result showed that the quality improvementof reference service was still not carried out, starting from obstacles such as small rooms, book shelves that are not neatly arranged and even the collection material available in the reference service is very dirty,dusty, event most yellowing, and there are no guards or staff who maintain the reference service room, the with an increase the quality of this service can provide comform felt b users and make it easier for users to find the source of information needed to reference service. because it still had to be addressed starting from a room that was still very limited so that it became an obstacle in improving the quality of reference services.Keywords: Polnep Library, reference service

Abstract

AbstractThe library materials arrangement in SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak is different from another school library. The purpose of this final project is to explain the manual arrangement of library materials in SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. The method being used was the descriptive qualitative method, while the collection data methods were observation method, interview method, and study document method. The informants consist of 2 persons, which were the librarian and the head librarian. The result shows that because of the lack of experts on the library materials arrangement process, hence the process can not be done optimally. In the arrangement process, the librarian using book inventorying, stamping, classification based on the inventorying book number, pasting the call number on books, and directlyaligning the books in collection shelves. It means the library materials arrangement that had done was not appropriate withthe which exsts arrangement standard. Keywords: Library materials arrangement, classification, school library

Abstract

AbstractThis study discussed the management of west Kalimantan regional deposit collection at West Kalimantan provincial library and filing service. The aims of this research were to know the process and obstacles in the process of management of deposit collection activities. This research used the descriptive method with a qualitative approach that describes the event based on the data obtained. The data collections were done by observation, interview, and documentation. The result of the research showed that the process of deposit collection management has not fully used Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) because the officer has not fully understood in the process of classification and cataloging. The obstacle that occurred in the process of classification activities was the officer got difficult in determining the subject of the collection. Keywords: Management, Deposit Collection, Public Library

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to know the management of library circulation services in the library University of Muhammadiyah Pontianak. This research was descriptive research and research method used was qualitative method. Data collection technique used by researcher in this research were observation, interview, and documentation. Theory used in this research was According to George R. Terry, management functions for the operative level of management can be limited and formulated: (1) planning, (2) organizing, (3) actuating, and (4) controlling. The Informants in this study were two (2) persons who are selected based on criteria that have been set. The result of the research is the form of management of circulation service that has been developed with automation system to facilitate the activity on the circulation service. In the process of implementation of automated circulation activities, there are some obstacles and non-conformity in the implementation undertaken. That was as experienced in the Muhammadiyah University Library Pontianak who experience interruption in the circulation services because the server owned by the library has interference. Keywords: library management, circulation services, excellent service

Abstract

AbstractThis research was motivated by the desire of researchers to find out the process information retrieval in the Al Azhar Islamic Elementary School Library 21 Pontiank. The purpose of this study was to find out how the process of information retrieval and the use of catalogs and classification as a means of retrieval of information in the Library of Al Azhar Islamic elementary school  21Pontianak. In this study the researcher used descriptive method with qualitative research. Data collection was done through observation, interview, and documentation at Library of Al Azhar Elementary Islamic School 21Pontianak. The results showed that the process of information retrieval in the library Al Azhar Islamic Elementary School21 Pontianak does not have a catalog as an information retrieval tool because according to librarians in the school library it is difficult to apply catalogs as information retrieval tools and no need to use catalogs as information retrieval tools because students do not understand the catalog. Catalogae and classifications are very important in the process of information retrieval, there are attempts to use catalogs in the Al Azhar Islamic Elementary School 21Pontianak but there are obstacles in cataloging, that was time. Abstract

AbstractThe title of this final project is “The Library Collection Arrangement in SMP Negeri 8 Pontianak”. This research looks at the arrangement of library materials in SMP Negeri 8 Pontianak, where the purpose is to show the classification procedure, cataloging, and the way to search for information. The research method used by the researcher in this final project fulfillment was the descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data collection techniques were observation, interview, and documenting that had done by the researcher to the informant. The result of this research is that the classification done on the collection is appropriate but the collection of fiction classification is not appropriate, the classification using the symbol of the letter F. On the catalog can only be traced by the officer alone should also be used by pemustaka existing in SMP Negeri 8 Pontianak, it means in information tracking is still not optimal.         Keywords: Classification, Cataloging, Information Search

Abstract

AbstractThis research is based on the researcher's desire to know the preservation of library collections in IAIN library Pontianak. The purpose of this final project is to explain the cause of the damage of library materials on doing the preservation in IAIN library Pontianak. In this research, the researcher conducted the research using descriptive method in the form of qualitative approach. The technique of data collection was done through observation, interview and documentation which was done by the researcher to the informans such as the head of the library, the processor staff and circulation service. The finding of this research showed that the preservation of library materials in IAIN library Pontianak has not optimal yet. There were many library collections that had been damaged but still used by the librarians. The factors which damaged the library materials were caused by the insects and humans. In doing the prevention, the librarians still used the simple tools such as binding and gluing the materials. The librarians never do any of the prevention like fumingation, lamination and deasidification. The obstacles faced by the librarians were such as: there was no special guidelines for preservation, lack of facilities, staff and fund.Keywords: Preservation, library collections

Abstract

AbstractEmpowerment is an important part of library management because libraries have a role as a means of education, research, preservation, information, and recreation. This study aims to discuss the implementation of library empowerment activities and obstacles encountered. This is a descriptive research using qualitative methods. The data were collected from five informants using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The findings showed that the Bank Indonesia Library of Kalimantan Barat has conducted six of seven library empowerment criteria such as improvement of the quality and professionalism of managers, library infrastructure, library collections, library promotion, collaboration between libraries, and budget making. Along with the activities, several obstacles found were the slow response to the questionnaire for the needs of library material analysis, the tight schedule of employees, library materials that were not by the educational background of all the internship students, and the absence of additional service variations. Therefore, as one effort of library empowerment, libraries can use marketing strategies in the form of information package services in the form of concise packaging of information. Keywords: Library empowerment, Specific library, Bank Indonesia

Abstract

AbstractThe background of this research was the interest in visiting the library a Representative Office of Indonesia Bank in West Kalimantan is low. The purpose is to know the level of interest in visiting the library in a Representative Office of Indonesia Bank in Kalimantan Barat. The method is qualitative method. The technique of data collecting through observation, interview, and documentation which conducted by 5 (five) interviewees. The result of research shows that the interest in visiting the library in a Representative Office in West Kalimantan is low.
