Abstract

One aspect of marketing activities is distribution. In the process of distributing goods, it is important to determine the optimal route that minimize mileage and reduce costs. This study aims to provide alternative solutions in determining distribution routes with the shortest distance which has implications for shorter travel times and lower costs. This research adapts the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) model with the approach of sweep and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to determine the route. To generate a comparison route, we use the Nearest Neighbor (NN) algorithm. The result was that 100 agents were divided into 6 clusters and the total distance of the PSO-generated route is 218.115 units or 85.70% of the route distance generated by Nearest Neighbor algorithm.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has led to the integration of digital tools in education to enhance student engagement and comprehension. This study examines the planning, implementation, and evaluation of biology learning on the human excretory system using Canva as an instructional medium for 11th-grade science students at SMAS Ibrahimy Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation to analyze the effectiveness of Canva in the learning process. The findings indicate that Canva facilitates structured lesson planning by providing interactive and visually appealing materials, making complex biological concepts more accessible. During implementation, students demonstrated increased engagement, creativity, and collaboration when utilizing Canva to design educational materials. Furthermore, evaluation through formative and summative assessments revealed improvements in students' understanding and retention of the subject matter. Teachers reported enhanced instructional delivery and positive student feedback regarding the use of Canva. However, challenges such as internet access and digital literacy were identified as areas requiring further attention.

Abstract

The guided inquiry practicum guidebook is an effective tool for actively engaging students in the learning process. It was observed that biology teachers and students at MAN 1 Banyuwangi solely rely on textbooks and other basic media for the learning process. This study aims to provide a comprehensive description of the validity, student responses, and usefulness of producing a biology practicum guidebook using a Guided Inquiry based Scientific approach for class XI Science students at MAN 1 Banyuwangi. The research and development method used is the ADDIE approach. The research was carried out at MAN 1 Banyuwangi, using interview guidelines and questionnaire sheets as data collection instruments. This research utilized one material expert validator, one media expert validator, one language expert validator, one assessment expert validator, and one Biology Teacher. This validation is conducted to assess the authenticity of the educational resource. The research findings indicate that the average validation results from material experts achieved a percentage of 84.43% with highly valid criteria. Similarly, the average validation results from media experts attained a percentage of 95.10% with highly valid criteria. The linguist validation yielded a percentage of 90.27%, the evaluation expert validation achieved a percentage of 95.10%, and the teacher validation obtained a percentage of 97.5%, all with highly valid criteria. Furthermore, the average student response questionnaire yielded a result of 91% with excellent criteria. According to the findings of this study, it can be inferred that the product in the form of a practical guidebook is classified as highly valid and highly practical.

Abstract

Education is an important element for a person's life in any country. Indonesia has taken the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) test since 2001. Since then, Indonesia's scores in science have fluctuated but have remained flat. So, scientific reasoning skills are needed that can help students understand science, especially in biology. Moreover, scientific reasoning skills are standard substance for graduates as stated in Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 21 of 2016. The purpose of research is to describe the scientific reasoning skills of male and female students on material plant growth and development class XII MIPA 3 at SMAN Ambulu Jember. The research method used is a qualitative for case study type. The research location chosen was SMAN Ambulu Jember. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques are tests, interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used of Miles and Huberman Model qualitative data analysis which consists of 4 stages are data collection, data condensation, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. Based on the results, scientific reasoning skills of male and female students are good category. From the test results, there are 7 male students belonging to transitional operational patterns, while there are 5 male students belonging to formal operational patterns. The female students belonging to the formal operational patterns are 18 people and 6 female students with the transitional operational patterns. In conclusion, this study sheds light on the commendable scientific reasoning skills demonstrated by both male and female students in understanding material on plant growth and development in class XII MIPA 3 at SMAN Ambulu Jember.

Abstract

Indonesian students' science skills are generally low, ranking 71st out of 79 countries in the 2018 PISA survey. Interviews with biology teachers at Jenggawah State Senior High School found that many students struggle with problem-solving and can't explain their answers well, despite having theoretical knowledge. To improve this, education should focus more on student-centered learning. One effective method is using the group investigation learning model, which can boost students' analytical thinking skills and improve their grades. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of the Group Investigation instructional model on the critical thinking skills of students, as well as the academic performance of grade X students in relation to environmental pollution. The research employed a quantitative methodology, specifically utilizing a quasi experimental design known as nonequivalent control group design. The sample approach employed was purposive sampling, where class X6 was chosen as the experimental group and X5 as the control group in Jenggawah state senior high school. Data gathering strategies employ assessment methods such as multiple-choice quizzes and essay writing. The Z test is employed as the data analysis approach. The research findings indicate a significant impact of the Group Investigation learning model on students' analytical thinking skills, with a significant p-value of 0.012. In addition, it was discovered that the Group Investigation learning model had also a significant impact on student learning outcomes, as shown by a significant value of 0.004.
