Abstract

As one important crop, especially in Asia, mung bean sprouts (Vigna radiata L.) offers many benefit and profit for those who able to produce it properly. In Kebun Jati village, such kind of commodities will very help for either self-consumption or business. However, the unknown knowledge and experience in production process often results on broken mung bean sprouts. Here, the simply technique, materials and tools was introduced to society in Kebun Jati village through community empowerment with motivation, training and accompaniment. The 10 total participant joined in this activity was motivated about benefit and profit of mung bean sprouts. Besides, participant was also trained how to produce mung bean sprouts properly. The significant improvement of knowledge was found on methods of mung bean sprouts production aspect, by 90% of participant becomes understood. Further accompaniment to transform raw materials of mung bean sprouts become useful product will improve the economic value.

Abstract

Abstract

The four transcription factors OCT4, SOX2, KLF4 and c-MYC are highly expressed in embryonic stem cells (ESC) and their overexpression can induce pluripotency, the ability to differentiate into all cell types of an organism. The ectopic expression such transcription factors could reprogram somatic stem cells become induced pluripotency stem cells (iPSC), an embryonic stem cells-like. Production of recombinant pluripotency factors gain interests due to high demand from generation of induced pluripotent stem cells in regenerative medical therapy recently. This review will focus on demonstrate the recent advances in recombinant pluripotency factor production using various host.

Abstract

As human population grows, the demand for food production will increase and consequently causing greater stress to resources such as land and water. Aquaponic is a technology integrating hydroponic and aquaculture to optimize nutrient cycling. The problem faced by the residents of Gedung Harapan Village is that the community still has not utilized the potential for optimal use of house yards for aquaculture and agriculture. We introduce aquaponics technology to realize independence in fulfilling family nutrition in the Gedung Harapan Village, South Lampung. This activity resulted in an increase in participants' understanding and experience of fish farming in buckets (budikdamber) with aquaponics. It was advisable to encourage more people to implemented budikdamber to fulfill family nutrition.

Abstract

Maize is one of essential crop in Indonesia. Maize trade distribution showed economic condition in society. If the distribution trade was poor, the quality and quantity of product will be low, consequences to uncontrolled condition in society. Every actor in distribution trade play important role. Farmer for instance, if the farmer produces low quality of maize grain, will resulted unacceptable product in factory. The acceptance of maize in feed factory is determined by several factor, such as moisture content, microorganism contamination, and presence of pest. To know the best recommendation treatment to prevent rejected product in feed factory, it is important to de-termine the moisture content in trade distribution, because the higher mois-ture content would increases the possibility of microorganism contamina-tion. Besides, the best condition storage is also critical for keeping the quali-ty of maize grain. Therefore, determination of equilibrium moisture content (EMC) will help the policies maker to consider environment condition for their storage. In this study, the maize EMC was determined using Hender-son’s equation. The results showed that the highest EMC was found in the maize after threshing (23.49±0.58%). The postharvest treatment, such as drying and sortation is very important apply in such point
