Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine combinations in planting media peat soil and clay on the growth of Acacia (Acacia crassicarpa) seedlings. This research was carried out in the nursery area of PT. BMH (Earth Mekar Hijau) Kayu Agung District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was conducted from January 2019 to March 2019. The aim of this research was to determine variations in planting media on the growth of Acacia (Acacia crassicarpa) seedlings. The research method used was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAK) where there were 5 treatments with 5 replications. The choice of planting media used at PT BMH (Bumi Mekar Hijau) is peat soil mixed with basic fertilizer. The results of the research showed that the provision of 75% Peat + 25% Clay Planting Media had a significant effect compared to the provision of other Planting Media on plant diameter, height, number of leaves and roots.

Abstract

One of the leading fishery commodities with important economic value is the blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus). The product that has a promising market share from this commodity is processed blue swimming crab in the form of cans or airtight packaging which has the HS code 160510. The problem is that the export market share of Indonesian processed crab is limited to certain countries (the United States), while other market shares have not been developed. This study aims to: (i) analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian processed blue swimming crab in the international market, (ii) determine the growth rate of Indonesian processed blue swimming crab exports compared to competing countries, and (iii) formulate a policy strategy to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian processed blue swimming crab in the international market. This study uses time series data and applies the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Constant Market Share (CMS) analysis methods. The analysis results show that the average RCA value of Indonesian processed blue swimming crab is 19.86 (RCA> 1) which indicates that Indonesian processed blue swimming crab has a strong comparative advantage in the international market. Indonesia's strategy for increasing the competitiveness and market share of its blue swimming crab exports is developed in two aspects (i) upstream strategy, and (ii) downstream strategy. These two strategies must be supported by traceability implementation policies, digital-based information systems, market intelligence strategies, providing export tax policies for processed crab trade, and complying with regulations in the main export destination countries.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the prime lending rate on credit quality and its subsequent effect on banking performance (LDR, ROA, NIM) in Indonesia. This quantitative study encompasses 43 conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2019 and 2023, with 215 data points. The originality of this study lies in its examination of the direct and indirect effects of credit quality on the relationship between the prime lending rate and banking performance. The data were analyzed using the mediation regression method with panel data, using EViews 13.0 employed for this purpose. The results of the study demonstrate that PLR has a positive effect on credit quality (NPL) and LDR, but a negative effect on ROA, and no effect on NIM. Conversely, NPL exerts a negative influence on LDR, ROA, and NIM. The mediation test revealed that PLR has a negative effect on LDR, ROA, and NIM through NPL. Ultimately, the findings suggest that banking practitioners should exercise caution when pursuing high net interest margin (NIM), return on assets (ROA), and loan-to-deposit (LDR) ratios. Instead, a more prudent approach to extending credit is recommended to maintain the NPL ratio below 5%. This approach contributes to the sustained financial stability of the banking institutions under consideration. For policymakers, the study offers insights into the broader effects of interest rate changes on banking stability and credit quality in emerging markets. Financial regulators, such as Bank Indonesia, could utilize these findings to develop policies that balance economic growth objectives with financial stability. For instance, they could implement measures to maintain NPLs below critical thresholds during periods of fluctuating interest rates. These implications encourage a balanced approach to managing interest rates, focusing on credit quality, and maintaining consistent performance to ensure long-term financial stability.
