Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tutor sebaya dalam praktik pembelajarannya, dengan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif yang mengambil sebanyak 30 orang siswa sebagai sampel, terbagi pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Hasil yang diperoleh pada kelas eksperimen adalah, siswa dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar, yang dibuktikan dengan skor N-Gain minimal 50.00% dan maksimal 100.00%, standar ini telah melewati nilai ketuntasan belajar yang ditetapkan sekolah, yakni sebesar 65. Sementara itu, berdasarkan respon siswa terhadap aktivitas belajar tutor sebaya, sebanyak 90 siswa menyatakan ketertarikannya terhadap proses pembelajaran tutor sebaya dan 68% siswa sangat antusias dan tertarik untuk mengikuti aktivitas pembelajaran dengan tutor sebaya. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut diketahui metode tutor sebaya dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil dan aktivitas belajar siswa SMP N 1 Bakongan.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the impact of anti-drug socialization activities held by Tebing Syahbandar District Community Service (KKN) students at SMPN 1 Tebing Syahbandar. A qualitative approach was used to gain an in-depth understanding of student and teaching staff participation, responses to various outreach activities, and the impact felt after implementing the activities. A preliminary study was conducted to collect information about school policies regarding drug abuse and understand the context of student life at SMPN 1 Tebing Syahbandar. The design of socialization activities involves identifying workshops, seminars and anti-drug campaigns, with adjustments to the activity design according to the needs and characteristics of students and teaching staff. The research results showed a high level of participation from students and teaching staff, with a positive response to the outreach activities. Interactive workshops, seminars with expert speakers, and creative campaigns have succeeded in providing relevant information, changing attitudes, and creating an environment of open dialogue in schools. Interviews with students and teachers revealed positive changes in knowledge, attitudes, and motivation to be actively involved in drug abuse prevention. Data analysis highlights the success of outreach activities in creating positive impacts, including increasing understanding and changing attitudes towards drugs. This research contributes to further understanding of the effectiveness of socialization strategies in the school environment and provides a basis for the development of similar activities in other educational institutions. The implication is that this approach can be adopted to increase awareness and prevent drug abuse among teenagers.

Abstract

Speaking requires mastering the vocabulary and pronunciation of the language well. The objective of this study is to find out the causes of students’ error in pronunciation and the students’ treatment in controlling their low confidence in speaking, to know the significant reasons of the phenomenon occurs. It is significantly influencing the developing of self-confidence and fluency in English. A mixed-methods approach used as research design. The subject of this research is students of English department who has problem in speaking. The data showed that students’ low confidence was caused by the problem of pronunciation. The biggest factor of students’ error in pronunciation is lack of practice and low motivation. The students had challenged about finding friends who can directly speak English. Another aspect also touches about the surrounding environment uses regional languages ​​and speaks Indonesian who prevent them to practice English. This study proved that low quality in English pronunciation caused low in English Speaking Competency. The study found some causes of students’ errors in English pronunciation, namely; Phonological Interference from Native Language, Lack of Exposure to Native English, Insufficient Pronunciation Practice, Teaching Methods and Materials, Psychological Factors.
