Abstract

The study aims to explore the influence of the insurance company’s specific variables and macroeconomic factors on financial performance of general insurance companies in Indonesia. The insurance company’s spesific variables are proxied by the claims ratio, premium growth ratio and risk-based-capital ratio as well as macroeconomic variables by Gross Domestic Products (GDP) and inflation, financial performance are proxied by return on assets and return on equity. The research samples are 35 registered general insurance companies at Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the 2016-2019 periods. The research method is panel data regression analysis with three stages model estimation approach ; Chow-test, Hausman-test and Langrange Multiplier-test to estimate the proper regression model of the Common Effect Model, Fixed Effect Model or Random Effect Model. The most fit regression model analysis to be selected is Random Effect Model. The results shows that the claims ratio affects return on assets and return on equity significantly, the risk-based-capital ratio affects return on assets significantly, but not affects return on equity significantly. While the premium growth ratio, GDP and inflation not affects return on assets and return on equity signficantly.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to explore macroeconomic factors that affect non-oil and gas exports in Indonesia. The research data are non-oil and gas export data, Gross Domestic Product, inflation, US dollar exchange rate, foreign direct investment in the 2010-2019 period published by Bank Indonesia statistics. The research method uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) analysis with the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) stationary test, Johansen's cointegration test, Granger causality test, Error Correction Model. The results showed there was a cointegration relationship between all dependent and independent variables, a direct relationship with the US dollar exchange rate and inflation on Gross Domestic Product, Gross Domestic Product on exports. In the short term Gross Domestic Product, inflation, exchange rates, and foreign direct investment have no significant effect on non-oil and gas exports. In the long run, Gross Domestic Product has a significant effect on non-oil and gas exports.Keywords: non-oil export, macroeconomy, cointegration, causality, error correction model

Abstract

Indonesia's manufacturing GDP growth experienced a downward trend from 2015-2020. All manufacturing companies experienced a decline, including textile and garment sub-sector companies. There are 4 textile and garment sub-sector companies that have suffered consecutive losses and high raw material costs caused indications of financial distress in textile and garment sub-sector companies. This study aims to determine the effect of profitability, liquidity, and solvency on financial distress in textile and garment sub-sector companies for the period 2015-2020. Profitability is measured by Return On Asset (ROA), liquidity is measured by Current Asset (CR), solvency is measured by Debt to Asset (DAR), and financial distress is measured by Altman Z-score. This study sample used 15 textile and garment sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data analysis method using Pooled Least Square. The results showed that profitability and liquidity had a positive and significant effect on financial distress. Solvency has a negative and significant effect on financial distress.

Abstract

A good company is a company that is concerned with the economic aspects that benefit the company and prioritizes environmental and social aspects. This study aims to determine how much influence the sustainability report has on the company's financial performance in 2018-2021. This study uses a quantitative approach method. The population in this study is a company that has been registered in the Stock Index SRI-KEHATI because this company has implemented sustainable accounting on the company's financial statements. The sample used in this study is the SRI-KEHATI’s indexed companies which has published a Sustainability Report and an annual report. The results are that the Sustainability Report's disclosure in terms of economic performance has a significant negative effect on company profitability, environmental aspects has a significant positive effect on company profitability, and social aspects has no significant effect on company profitability. This can be a consideration for companies in implementing ESG issues by disclosing a Sustainability Report regarding their production operations even though the reporting is still voluntary. It is proven that the disclosure of economic and environmental aspects transparently can increase the company's profits.
