Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are differences in risk and return of investment in investment instruments that investigated the third is gold, LQ 45 index and Mutual Funds. Comparative risk and return is to know where the most profitable instruments so that the right to choose in making investment decisions. The sample used is the price of gold, LQ 45 index and NAV shares of mutual funds during the period from 1997 until 2009. One Way ANOVA is used in this study. The results of this study as follows. There is a significant difference of  risk and return among gold, mutual fund, and LQ 45 index. Finally it can be concluded that gold is the most profitable investment instruments, it is because the smaller the coefficient of variation, the more profitable an investment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in the financial literacy of young entrepreneurs based on parental income, parental education level, and parental profession. Supply chain management significantly and positively mediates among the relationship between parental income, parental profession, parental education level, and financial literacy. This study used survey methods. The samples of this study were young entrepreneurs or students who started businesses. This study used a different test with smart-PLS. The results of this study showed the differences in the financial literacy of young entrepreneurs based on parental income, parental education level, and parental profession. This study found that young entrepreneurs with high or medium parental income were different from young entrepreneurs with low parental income. Young entrepreneurs with parents attending higher and secondary education were different from entrepreneurs with parents who are only attending elementary school. Young entrepreneurs who have parents as employees and entrepreneurs had no differences in financial, but different when compared to parents who work as laborers.

Abstract

This purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of intellectualcapital on the companies performance. The research used quantitativeapproach, and it collected by annual reports to pharmaceutical company atIndonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from year 2009–2017 which had a populationof 10 companies. The hypothesis of this research is tested by usingmultiple regression analysis. The result indicate that (1) intellectual capitalhas positive influence to the companies performance (ROA and ROE); (2)intellectual capital has negative influence on companies performance (ATOand MBV). Hence, to maximize the performance on pharmaceutical companiesmerely consider intellectual capital factors.

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the effect of intellectualcapital on the company’s financial performance. The independent variablein this study is VAIC that developed by Pulic is used as a measure of intellectualcapital, while the dependent variable of this study is financial performancewhich is proxied by return on assets, return on equity, and assetturnover. The sample of this study is the infrastructure, utilities and transportationcompany listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with theresearch period of 2014–2017. Data collection use purposive samplingmethod. The number of sample used in this study is 51 companies eachyear. This study uses multiple linear regression for data analysis. The resultsof this study indicate that VAIC as a measure of Intellectual capital has asignificant positive effect on return on assets, return on equity, and assetturnover. Overall, the results of this study indicate that contributing themost to the creation of added value and competitive advantage of the company.

Abstract

This study aims to prove whether there are differences in entrepreneurialknowledge, entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurial orientationin accounting students in higher education. The problem with this researchis whether there are differences in entrepreneurial knowledge, entrepreneurialintention, and entrepreneurial orientation between junior studentsand senior students. This research used quantitative analysis and surveymethod is applied to gather information. Then analyze the data usingthe independent sample T test. The results of this study are there are differencesin entrepreneurial knowledge, entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurialorientation between junior and senior accounting students.

Abstract

Program peningkatan literasi keuangan bagi buruh migran Indonesia di Singapura, Hongkong, dan Roma diikuti oleh tujuh puluh lima peserta. Dari tujuh puluh lima perserta tersebut hanya ada satu pekerja migran laki-laki. Permasalah dalam literasi keuangan yang dialami para buruh migran tersebut antara lain kesulitan mengelola keuangan dan kesulitan membuat anggaran untuk bisnisnya. Uang yang mereka kirim ke sanak saudara di Indonesia untuk mengembangkan bisnis justru habis karena para buruh migran tersebut kurang paham tentang pengelolaan keuangan. Tujuan program tersebut adalah untuk memberikan tambahan wawasan tentang literasi keuangan dan memberikan konsultasi dalam bidang keuangan untuk pengembangan bisnis mereka yang dijalankan di Indonesia. Program pelatihan tersebut terdiri dari empat tahapan, yaitu observasi, persiapan, pelatihan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan tersebut dilakukan berkat kerjasama antara Program Studi Akuntansi Universitas Ciputra, Universitas Ciputra Media Transformation Ministry, dan Development Singapore. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan tersebut, peserta dapat membuat penganggaran bagi bisnis mereka.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is investigating how Head of Department implement management control in their real context. This research use phenomenology and in-depth interview for collecting data. This study found that Head of Department use many management control mechanism such as motivating, evaluation, giving opportunity, supporting, giving facilities, and role model. This research also found that department doesn't have specific mechanisms in order to implement management control

Abstract

Innovation is the most important and the most strategic aspects both for profit and non-profit companies. Innovation is an essential requirement to improve organization’s competitiveness and performance. This research is aiming to deeply explore the process of how innovation emerges in an organization so that the organization able to improve its competitiveness. This research uses an interpretative paradigm with qualitative methodology of a single case study. A single case study approach is used in the research to better explore how innovation processes emerge. The study was done in a year, with seven months of data collection. The data were obtained from a semi-structured interview methodology conducted to six full-time lecturers. Furthermore, the research was based on Miles and Huberman’s methodology to perform the data analysis. The study found that innovation can improve competitiveness. The study found three key aspects during the emergence of innovation, which are benchmarking, knowledge stock, and information. The process of innovation emerges via an interactive and intensive discussion. Interactive control system, as part of the management control, holds an important role in the process of innovation emergence. The study is as one of the references for the department of social science to create innovation.

Abstract

Abstrak: Sistem Pengendalian Manajemen di Entrepreneural University. Artikel ini bertujuan menginvestigasi dengan mendalam bagaimana pemahaman dosen mengenai sistem pengendalian manajemen serta bagaimana dimensi pengendalian mampu memotivasi individu. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus digunakan untuk menelaah situs Universitas Ciputra yang merupakan entrepreneurial university. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi untuk selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengendalian informal lebih efektif dibandingkan pengendalian formal terutama dalam hal memotivasi individu. Informan mengungkapkan ada beberapa mekanisme pengendalian yang mampu memengaruhi perilaku mereka bahkan memotivasi mereka dalam bekerja. Abstract: Management Control System in Entrepreneural University. This article investigates the understanding of management control system of lecturers and how control dimension could motivate individuals.  Qualitative approach namely case study was applied to explore and analyse data in Ciputra University as entrepreneurial university.  Data was collected through in depth interview and observation which was then analysed by employing Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method. The result indicates that informal control is more effective compared to formal control especially in motivating individuals. Informants disclosed several control mechanisms that would affect their behaviour and motivation.

Abstract

The development of entrepreneurial education designed currently is developing rapidly. One of the goals of this education is to produce new start-ups. Therefore, factors that impact the performance of start-ups by university students are important to be studied further. This study aimed to determine the impact of organizational culture, motivation, and self-leadership on the performance of students of the Accountancy Study Program in a private university in Surabaya, which has entrepreneurship as part of their curriculum. This private university is a university with the vision of creating entrepreneurs. Therefore, the learning method provided is project-based learning. All students have to undergo entrepreneurship learning, and thus, they are required to create start-ups according to their field of study and according to their respective study program. The success of the students' start-ups will undoubtedly require excellent performance in achieving the set target. This study was conducted using a quantitative method and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The result of this study suggested that organizational culture and self-leadership had an impact on students' performance in start-ups. However, motivation had no impact on students' performance in start-ups. Keywords: entrepreneurial education, organizational culture, performance, motivation, self-leadership
