Abstract

This research aims to improve the anaerobic capacity and self-esteem of Canton Basketball Club athletes using 3x3 game. This study employs Kemmis and Taggart research model and was conducted in Palembang, Indonesia on March 2018. In this study, fifteen male athletes have volunteered for sixteen training meetings divided into two cycles and have performed 3x3 game with some modifications in each meeting. The Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) and interview are applied to examine the improvement of anaerobic capacity and self-esteem of athletes who perform 3x3 games before and after each cycle. A significant difference of fatigue index is observed. In pretest, the average is 5,35 W/s with a minimum value of 3,83 W/s and maximum value of 6,77 W/s, while in post cycle II is 3,60 W/s with minimum and maximum value of 2,07 W/s and 5,39 W/s respectively. The result of this study reveals that the improvement of anaerobic capacity is various depend on the used modifications. Furthermore, 3x3 game is advantageous to improve anaerobic capacity. Hence, it is suggested that the upcoming studies explore the athletes’ mood and different type of small-sided games as well as its modifications for the improvement of athletes’ performance.

Abstract

Batara gymnastics is an abbreviation of gymnastic activities that have a fit, agile, and happy character. Batara gymnastics is one of the variations in rhythmic gymnastics created. The purpose of study was to improve students’ body fitness through batara gymnastic for student at eleventh grade SMK Negeri 2 Oku. This research used experimental research. The design of this study used one group pretest posttest design. Process of collecting data used TKJI method. The results of study show that 1) pretest score before doing Gymnastics Batara (Fit Tangkas Gembira) obtained a score of 14.20 while students after doing Gymnastics Batara (Fit Tangkas Gembira) obtained a score of 18.05. Furthermore, the statistical analysis of the T-Test obtained t-count of -10,771 greater than ttable = 1,729. From these results it can be concluded that there is the Effect of Gymnastics Gymnastics (Fit Tangkas Gleeful) on the level of fitness of class XI students in SMK Negeri 2 OKU that is equal to 27.11%.

Abstract

The play approach is considered a learning strategy that aligns with the characteristics of elementary school students because it promotes active, exploratory, and meaningful physical activity. This approach has the potential to enhance students' self-regulation in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of using the play approach in physical education on students' self-management skills in throwing and catching in fifth grade at SDN 1 Kayuambon. The research method uses an experimental design with a randomized pretest-posttest control group. The study population included all 120 students in Class V at SDN 1 Kayuambon. Sixty students were randomly selected and divided into two groups: an experimental group of 30 students who received instruction using the Play approach and a control group of 30 students who received conventional instruction. Research instruments were used to measure student self-management aspects, and data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in self-management in the experimental group, with values of t = -10.027 and p = 0.000; the control group did not show a significant increase, with values of t = 0.858 and p = 0.398. The independent t-test results showed significant differences between the two groups (t = 3.359; p = 0.001), indicating that the play approach is more effective than conventional learning models in improving student self-management. In conclusion, the Play approach to physical education has a better influence on improving student self-management than conventional learning. Further research is suggested to apply the Play approach to other physical education materials, such as physical fitness, gymnastics, and swimming, and to investigate its impact on aspects of physical fitness, cooperation, and student discipline.
