Abstract

The career center is one solution in responding to the high unemployment rate with higher education which is possible due to a mismatch between educational competence and the needs of employment, or an imbalance between demand and supply. The purpose of this study was to determine the success and effectiveness of the implementation of the career center program at one of the universities in the health sector in Denpasar City. This study is an evaluation study using the CIPP model which was analyzed qualitatively. The results show that in the context aspect it is necessary to set clear vision, mission, and goals. The input aspect shows that there is no curriculum as a guide and the implementation of several programs has not been optimally assessed from the process aspect. Meanwhile, the product aspect shows good acceptance of graduates in the world of work. It is hoped that the career center program can be improved by implementing strategic management and providing entrepreneurship education.

Abstract

Long term of heart failure symptoms will affect the patient functional status and ability to do self-care appropriately. Decreasing functional status and self-care ability will certainly affect the quality of life of patients. This study aimed to determine the relationship of self-care with the quality of life of heart failure patients that undergoing treatment at Heart Polyclinic of Mangusada Hospital. The research design was descriptive correlational using cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in January-February 2019. Total respondent participated were 61 respondents and were taken using a purposive sampling technique. Self care of heart index (SCHFI) questionnaire and the Minnesota Living With Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) were used. The results showed that the average of self-care score was 45.25 and the average score of the quality of life was 60.67. Analysis using the Spearman Rank test obtained p-value = 0,000 and r = 0.506. It can be concluded that self care had a significant correlation on quality of life patients with heart failure in Mangusada Hospital. We recommended that nursing service providers play an active role in providing education and motivation to heart failure patients to improve self-care abilities.

Abstract

Emerging infectious diseases (EID) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide since it initially attacks a population or has existed before but is increasing very rapidly in terms of the number of new cases in a population. Early detection of EID patients refers to early screening. Screening of patients with suspected EID such as Covid-19 or other airborne infectious diseases must be performed at the first contact with suspected patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of EID screening instrument applied at the Emergency Room (ER). This was a quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample size consisted of 34 nurses at the ER of Mangusada Hospital, Bali, who were selected using a total sampling technique. The intervention administered in this study was the implementation of EID screening instrument before the patients entered triage for 1 month on June 2022 at the ER of Mangusada Hospital. After ensuring the distribution and homogeneity of the data, a paired t-test was employed for parametric statistical data analysis. The result of the study showed a p-value of (0.004) or p <α (0.05). So, it can be concluded that there was an effect of the screening instrument applied at the ER of Mangusada Hospital on the preparedness of nurses in dealing with EID. Thus, the screening for patients with EID should be implemented in each emergency unit. The study finding can help improve nurse preparedness regarding the prevention of EID. In addition, future study is recommended to assess the competence of nurses regarding the prevention of EID.

Abstract

Generally, patients with heart failure will experience activity intolerance resulting in functional limitations and decreased self-care abilities. One of the innovations offered in the Digital era is to develop a mobile phone e-nursing application with mobile technology that can be used by heart failure patients anywhere and anytime. This research aims to create a mobile phone application prototype to improve self-care for heart failure patients. This study is a research and development design. This study involved 32 heart failure patients who had medical records and a history of hospitalization at Mangusada Hospital using a purposive sampling technique. This research produced a prototype the self-care e-nursing application prototype which was developed into 6 main menus including education, weight monitoring, symptom monitoring, diet programs, medication reminders, and rest-activity menus.  Then the prototype was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ). The research results show that the average SUS score reached 84.84 and the overall PSSUQ score was above 5. The conclusion is this prototype is classified as acceptable. Thus, this prototype is worthy of being developed into a real application in the future. Future research is needed to investigate the integration of the e-nursing application with electronic medical records (EMRs) within existing hospital systems.
