Abstract

The gap between facts and the importance of problem solving skill to be developed, into cornerstone of this research. Research of improving students? problem solving skill through guided discovery learning is the aim of this research. Qualitative descriptive be the method in this research. Pre-test and post-test was completed by 38 students. Pre-test and post-test result were analyzed descriptively. To get in-depth data about students? problem solving ability, interviews were conducted with 20 students. Results of interviews, observations, and research journals were analyzed qualitatively. There is a difference in the improvement of problem solving skill, seen from the increase on total value and the increase on each indicator of problem solving skill. In total value, the increase have is in the low category. Also the increase of 1st indicator and 3rd indicator is in thw low category. But, indicator 2nd and 4th is in the medium category.

Abstract

The interconnection of mathematics and religion can be done by looking at the interconnectedness of mathematics and the sunnah dhuha. The uniqueness of the sunnah dhuha, provides a challenge to see how mathematics is present in the initial determination of the dhuha time, to make it easier for humans to do. In this study, the library research method was used as a research method to see the mathematical interconnection with dhuha time. There are four steps carried out in the research, the first is data collection, the second is data reduction, third is display data, and fourt data analysis and interpretation. From the research that has been done, the mathematical concepts that exist in determining the timing of the dhuha prayer are the basic concepts of mathematical arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), trigonometric concepts, basic concepts of geometry (acute angles), and the concept of calculating time. . In the initial calculation of the implementation of dhuha prayer, the concept of trigonometry (sin, cos, tan), the basic concepts of arithmetic operations, and the concept of calculating the amount of time used. The basic concept of geometry (an acute angle) is connected with the angle formed at the height of the sun at the beginning of the time of the dhuha prayer seen from the observer.

Abstract

This research aim to analyze the implementation of tolerance in mathematics learning at Tadris Mathematics of IAIN Curup as one of the steps to monitor the realization of national unity. A qualitative descriptive method approach was used to explore information regarding the implementation of tolerance. Observation, questionnaires, and documentation are used as data mining tools. Total of 35 students and 4 lecturers became informants to this research. The research result show that there are three aspects of tolerance, namely respecting differences of any kind, whether opinions, ethnic, religious, physical, economic, social, and cultural views; provide freedom/provide space for creativity, opinion, and fulfill individual rights as human beings within appropriate norms and religion; and upholding discussion/deliberation/consensus (being open to differences) is well implemented in mathematics learning at Tadris Mathematics of IAIN Curup. Implementation is carried out in the learning process, semester lesson plan, teaching/reference materials that used, as well as evaluation tasks that given to students.

Abstract

Starting from the low understanding of mathematical concepts of prospective teacher students in learning and the demands of the times. Prospective teachers must first understand mathematical concepts in order to easily solve more complex mathematical problems. Preliminary studies show that prospective teachers' understanding of mathematical concepts in analytical geometry is still low. Students have difficulty describing abstract geometric objects and lack access to adequate interactive learning materials, making it difficult for them to understand geometry. Teaching materials are needed in the form of metacognitive-based electronic models to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This e-module supports an independent learning process that leads students to abstract mathematical problems using the help of GeoGebra. This research was conducted with the Plomp development model, to measure the level of practicality seen from the practicality questionnaire from 9 students and a lecturer teaching the Analytical Field Geometry course, and the effectiveness of the product has been seen from the small group evaluation phase. Measurement of effectiveness is measured from the average n-gain according to Meltzer to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The results showed that the GeoGebra-assisted metacognitive-based electronic flipbook module to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts was practice and effective.
