Abstract

LNG adalah hasil dari gas alam yang dicairkan, yang merupakan sekumpulan gas hidrokarbon, dengan metana sebagai gas dengan rasio paling besar (umumnya di atas 90%) ditambah dengan nitrogen dan zat lainnya dalam konsentrasi kecil. Dengan kritikal muatan tersebut, maka sistem pengangkutan kapal ini memiliki perlindungan berlapis dan sangat canggih. Namun dari kecanggihan instrument tersebut, ada kalanya mengalami kesalahan pembacaan khususnya pada saat proses pemuatan sedang berlangsung. Penulisan ini membahas tentang apa penyebab terjadinya terjadinya surge pressure dan bagaimana cara penanggulangannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan diantaranya studi lapangan dengan cara melakukan survey secara langsung, studi kepustakaan dengan mengumpulkan literatur serta penyebaran angket kepada responden yang berhubungan langsung dengan kapal LNG. Kesimpulan dari penulisan ini yaitu (1) bagaimana cara yang dilakukan agar sistem proteksi pada tangki saat memuat tetap berfungsi namun tidak terjadi kesalahan pembacaan dan tetap ada kontrol dari operator yaitu dengan memperbolehkan penggunaan override hanya pada tangki terakhir. (2) mencegah timbulnya ESD dan surge pressure dengan cara melakukan pengawasan serta pelarangan kapal lain melintas di dekat pelabuhan muat dikarenakan akan timbul gelombang yang menyebabkan kesalahan pembacaan pada instrumen serta melakukan penutupan katup muat secara manual (override) untuk mencegah terjadinya lonjakan tekanan pada saat akhir pemuatan.

Abstract

This study addresses persistent waste-management challenges in coastal urban areas by optimizing the performance of waste-processing equipment at the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (TPS3R) facility in Pariaman City. It was conducted through a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)–based repair and preventive maintenance program. The intervention combined field observation, identification of critical components, operator technical training, and the implementation of a structured maintenance schedule adapted to local operational conditions. Implementation involved collaboration among TPS3R management, local community members, and technical staff from Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat. Data were collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of maintenance activities. Post-intervention evaluation demonstrated substantive gains in machine processing efficiency, up to an 80% improvement relative to baseline and a marked reduction in breakdown frequency. Operators showed measurable increases in technical competence and consistent adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe and effective machine operation. The findings underscore the value of vocational higher-education–community partnerships for technology adaptation, capacity building, and fostering a maintenance culture that supports sustainable urban waste systems. The program represents a scalable, replicable model for similar coastal contexts and contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of risk management to improve maritime safety at Teluk Bayur Port, aiming to (1) analyze risk management practices and (2) identify principal risk factors. A descriptive case-study design with supporting quantitative analysis was applied; data were collected by field observation, questionnaires (n = 90, purposive sampling) and documentation; analyses included descriptive percentages, simple regression, SWOT and risk assessment. Results show high awareness of risk management (87.7%) but a significant training gap (53.8% never trained). The main risk factor is adverse weather (82.7%), followed by inadequate infrastructure and human error. Quantitative analysis indicates a positive and significant effect of risk management implementation on maritime safety (regression coefficient b = 0.432; r = 0.860; R² = 0.739; p = 0.000), meaning 73.9% of safety variance is explained by implementation. Mitigation measures involve digital integration, training, and emergency procedures. Conclusion: risk management at Teluk Bayur is underway but not fully optimal or integrated; recommendations include regular training and simulations, infrastructure and navigation equipment modernization, strengthened inter-agency coordination, and data-driven risk management to shift from reactive to predictive and preventive safety practices.
