There are two experimental group involved. The students’ different level of motivation was taken as a factor that might influence the strategies. In collecting data, the writer used reading comprehension test to get students’ scores and questionnaires. The data was analyzed using ANOVA to answer the main hypotheses. Based on the analysis of the significance score was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05. It can be concluded that there was significance difference on the students’ achievement taught by anticipation guide and visualization for students with high and low motivation. This research is expected to give a contribution to give a contribution to English teaching learning such as giving appropriate strategy to teach reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an animated series titled Ayu lan Bagus: Pandawa Lima, featuring a special episode introducing the Pandawa Lima wayang kulit characters (Yudistira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sadewa) to elementary school students in Yogyakarta. The research is motivated by the low level of students’ knowledge and interest in traditional wayang culture, as well as the limited effectiveness of character education in elementary schools. Through this animation, students are encouraged not only to learn about wayang characters but also to internalize the character values embodied in the Pandawa Lima stories, such as honesty, courage, loyalty, and wisdom. The method involves animation content development, production, and distribution to elementary schools. The animation adopts an engaging and interactive approach, featuring characters like Ayu, Bagus, and Gareng as narrators who guide viewers through the story. The expected outcomes include the production of one short episode with five additional episodes, increased students’ knowledge of wayang characters, and enhanced interest in traditional culture. The animation will also be registered for intellectual property rights (IPR) and published in a scientific article. The expected impact is the creation of an innovative learning medium that can be sustainably integrated into cultural and Javanese language education curricula, thereby contributing to the preservation of traditional culture and strengthening character education based on local wisdom among young generations.

Abstract

The study aims to identify character education values in the Ponorogo Keling Dance. The character education values identified were assessed for their relevance as teaching material for the Javanese language subject for secondary-level students. The approach used in this research was qualitative with a constructivist paradigm. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The resource person in this research was Wiyoto, head of the Guno Joyo Studio, Keling Dance Association. Data in terms of symbols and meaning will be analyzed using the hypersemiotic theory. The data validity used triangulation of data sources. The results showed that the Keling dance had local wisdom values indicated in symbols. These symbols were visualized in the Keling dance choreography and characters. After employing hyper semiotic theory, the study found symbols in the Keling dance containing character education values. These values are tolerance, creativity, national spirit, love of the nation, and care for the environment. These values are relevant to teaching material for the Javanese language subject in terms of character education values, availability to be integrated with the Javanese language subject, and contextuality following local cultural characteristics. The use of the Keling Dance as teaching material for the Javanese language subject hopefully introduces native Ponorogo arts other than reog.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the form of the Javanese philosophy of memayu hayuning Bawana in the Sendang Bulus Legend. Data was taken from the text of the Ponorogo Folklore Collection which was read heuristically and hermeneutically. The results of the study show that the form of the Javanese philosophy of memayu hayuning Bawana in the Sendang Bulus Legend shows an effort to achieve cosmos harmony as an effort to achieve holistic peace and tranquility. The manifestation of Javanese philosophy is found in the four directions of the nature of relationships, namely (1) the relationship between humans and God which is manifested in the behavior of prayer and surrender; (2) the relationship between humans and themselves in the form of ascetic activities which require humans to control their desires and concentrate their focus. to God; (3) the relationship between humans and each other which includes behavior to create mutual peace and tranquility; and (3) the relationship between humans and nature which is realized in the form of preserving ecosystems and the biological and non-biological diversity within them.
