Abstract

This study aims to interpret the meaning of wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. The wanda analyzed is wanda of wayang kulit based Surakarta model. The method of study was descriptive qualitative. The research object was the signs on wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. This signs was examined its meaning by the employment of semiotic theories. Technique of data collection used interview and documentation. Data validity was triangulation of data source. Data from one source compared with other sources to test the validity of a data. The result of this research found that the meaning behind wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. Those meaning are the reflection of wong cilik characteristic. Semar shows that wong cilik has religious character. Gareng describes that wong cilik has an honest and careful character. Petruk shows the character of wong cilik is hardworking. The last, Bagong describes the characteristics of innocent people who say what they are.Keywords: wanda, Panakawan, shadow puppet, wong cilik, semioticsKARAKTERISTIK WONG CILIK PADA WANDA WAYANG KULIT TOKOH PANAKAWAN AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menginterpretasikan makna pada wanda wayang kulit tokoh Panakawan. Wanda yang dikaji pada penelitian ini adalah wanda wayang kulit model Surakarta. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskripti kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah tanda pada wanda wayang kulit tokoh Panakawan. Tanda pada wanda tersebut dikaji maknanya menggunakan teori semiotik. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah teknik wawancara dan dokumentasi. Validasi data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah triangulasi sumber data. Data dari sumber satu dibandingkan dengan sumber yang lain untuk menguji validitas sebuah data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah makna dibalik wanda wayang kulit tokoh Panakawan. Makna dari wanda tersebut merupakan cerminan dari karakteristik wong cilik. Semar menunjukkan bahwa wong cilik memiliki karakter religius. Gareng menggambarkan bahwa wong cilik memiliki karakter jujur dan berhati-hati. Petruk menunjukkan karakter wong cilik yang pekerja keras. Terakhir, yaitu Bagong menggambarkan karakteristik wong cilik yang lugu berkata apa adanya.Kata kunci: wanda, Panakawan, wayang kulit, wong cilik, semiotik

Abstract

The study aims to identify character education values in the Ponorogo Keling Dance. The character education values identified were assessed for their relevance as teaching material for the Javanese language subject for secondary-level students. The approach used in this research was qualitative with a constructivist paradigm. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The resource person in this research was Wiyoto, head of the Guno Joyo Studio, Keling Dance Association. Data in terms of symbols and meaning will be analyzed using the hypersemiotic theory. The data validity used triangulation of data sources. The results showed that the Keling dance had local wisdom values indicated in symbols. These symbols were visualized in the Keling dance choreography and characters. After employing hyper semiotic theory, the study found symbols in the Keling dance containing character education values. These values are tolerance, creativity, national spirit, love of the nation, and care for the environment. These values are relevant to teaching material for the Javanese language subject in terms of character education values, availability to be integrated with the Javanese language subject, and contextuality following local cultural characteristics. The use of the Keling Dance as teaching material for the Javanese language subject hopefully introduces native Ponorogo arts other than reog.

Abstract

There are still many Javanese language errors found in student narrative essays, even though the use of language according to the rules is one of the efforts to preserve the local language. The approach used is descriptive qualitative case study combined with the theory of Javanese language error analysis. The research data is in the form of narrative essays in Javanese ngoko variety of students that contain Javanese language errors. Data collection techniques used listening, note-taking and observation techniques. Data analysis used interactive model. The results showed that: 1) there are 4 language errors at the level of phonology, namely 75% errors in writing vowel phonemes, 20% errors in writing consonant phonemes, 2% errors in adding consonants, and 3% errors in subtracting consonants; 2) there are 5 language errors at the morphological level, namely errors due to the writing of prefixes separated from the base word as much as 25%, errors due to the writing of suffixes separated from the base word as much as 21%, affixing errors as much as 22%, errors in writing ater-ater anuswara as much as 9%, and diction errors as much as 23%; 3) Analysis of Javanese language errors can be implemented as an effort to preserve local language according to the rules in the realm of Javanese language learning; 4) In an effort to preserve the local language according to the rules, it is necessary to have a Javanese Language Error Analysis course.
