Abstract

Economic digitalization has transformed various aspects of economic activities and plays a pivotal role in shaping the dynamic economic landscape of Indonesia. This study examines the impact of digitalization on Indonesia’s economic growth from 2019 to 2023, measured through internet access, mobile phone ownership, e-commerce usage, and the ICT Index. Using panel regression analysis, the results show that internet access and mobile phone ownership significantly and positively affect economic growth, highlighting the importance of digital connectivity in boosting national productivity and economic efficiency. Conversely, e-commerce usage and the ICT Index have a significant negative impact, possibly due to unequal access, dominance of imported goods, and suboptimal digital infrastructure. These findings emphasize that digital transformation must be supported by equitable infrastructure distribution, improved access to technology, enhanced digital literacy, and adaptive government policies to drive sustainable and inclusive growth across Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose — This research aims to examine and analyze the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI), internet users, interest rates, and inflation on economic growth in the five founding ASEAN countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.Method — This research employs a quantitative approach using panel regression analysis to identify and measure the impact of macroeconomic variables and digital technology on economic growth in the five founding countries of ASEAN. The data, spanning the period from 2005 to 2022, is sourced from the World Bank and other relevant international databases.Result — The research results indicate that foreign direct investment (FDI), internet users, and interest rates significantly influence economic growth in ASEAN countries. Conversely, inflation has a negative but insignificant effect on economic growth in the region. These findings underscore the importance of FDI, digital technology adoption, and effective interest rate management in driving economic growth. The insignificant impact of inflation suggests that it may not play a major role in the economic growth dynamics of the ASEAN-5.Practical implications — The research has practical implications for ASEAN stakeholders. Governments can attract FDI and promote digital infrastructure to foster economic growth. Investors can target sectors that benefit from FDI and digital technology. Central banks can adjust interest rates to stimulate growth while managing inflation. Businesses can prioritize digital transformation for development. Collaboration among ASEAN states can further enhance regional growth. Aligning strategies with these findings can boost ASEAN's prosperity and competitiveness.

Abstract

Monetary variables can affect portfolio investment in the short or long term. The previous studies rarely discuss the effects of monetary variables in the long and short term on portfolio investment. This study looks at monetary indicators that affect investment portfolios in Indonesia. The methodology used in this research is to use the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to see the response of several variables in the short and long term. The findings suggest that monetary policy should pay special attention to Indonesia's money supply (M2) and savings to influence portfolio investment in the short term. The monetary policy transmission mechanism can use the money and expectation channels to optimize monetary variables to control investment. Meanwhile, in the long run, monetary policy portfolio investment control needs to pay attention to interest rates and savings and adjust to the set inflation target, which can be used in the interest rate channel.JEL Classification: E21, E22, E43, E51, E52 How to Cite:Fuddin, M. Abstract

Plastic waste is difficult to decompose, so it causes environmental problems. The amount of environmental pollution by plastic waste in Indonesia is due to the lack of balance between the volume of waste and its handling efforts. The increasing volume of plastic waste has an impact on the severity of waste processing in Integrated Waste Disposal Sites. The community service team in collaboration with Mulyoagung Village Head held a community service program to change people's habits from passive about waste to active through waste saving education. There are three activities in this program, namely educate the public to reduce household waste especially plastic, carry out a campaign to save plastic waste by making and installing posters or billboards in strategic places, and encourage the Mulyoagung Village apparatus to initiate the use of tumbler. The result of this activity is the high participation of the community as seen from attendance of participants and enthusiasm of participants to ask questions, installation of posters and billboards, also used of tumblers to village office every day. To make this activity can be continuity and sustainable, the community service team will do community service program in the same place with the theme of environmental problems.

Abstract

Financial stability is a crucial indicator of the financial sector's health, reflecting the system's resilience or vulnerability to crises. This study investigates the impact of macroeconomic variables and financial inclusion on financial stability in Indonesia, utilizing quarterly data from the first quarter of 2012 to the fourth quarter of 2021. Employing the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), the research examines the influences of these factors in both the short and long term. The findings reveal that macroeconomic variables and financial inclusion significantly affect financial stability in Indonesia across both time frames. Specifically, inflation emerges as a critical factor influencing financial stability in the long term, while interest rates play a pivotal role in the short term. Moreover, financial inclusion, represented by the public's use of banking products and third-party funds relative to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), impacts financial stability both in the long and short term. Conversely, financial inclusion, measured by credit to GDP, exhibits only short-term effects on financial stability. The results underscore the importance of careful consideration by the central bank when formulating monetary policy, particularly regarding interest rate adjustments, due to their immediate impact on financial system stability. Over the long term, maintaining control over inflation rates is imperative to safeguard financial stability. Furthermore, financial institutions, in their role of fostering financial inclusion by distributing credit, must balance the quality of credit with its quantity to avoid negative impacts on the financial system's stability. This study contributes valuable insights for policymakers and financial institutions aiming to bolster Indonesia's financial stability through prudent macroeconomic management and the strategic implementation of financial inclusion initiatives.

Abstract

Abstract

Green Finance refers to financial practices that can be described through financial services and products that take environmental sustainability to support sustainable development. The role of green finance is to connect financial goals with the environment to encourage inclusive economic growth. One form of green finance implementation is in financial institutions, especially banking. This study aims to analyze the impact of green finance implementation in the banking sector on banking performance as proxied by the profitability ratio in the 2018-2022 period. The Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) dynamic panel is used. The Green Daily Operation (GDO) and Green Finance Policy (GFP) variables indicate the implementation of green finance in banking. Other independent variables use banking performance ratios consisting of the capital adequacy ratio, non-performing loans, and the bank's operational efficiency ratio. The study results show that green finance represented by implementing GFP can increase profitability, while GDO does not significantly affect banks' profitability in Indonesia. Furthermore, the internal banking ratio that is not significant to profitability is the capital adequacy ratio, while increasing non-performing loans and operational efficiency ratio significantly negatively impacts bank performance because it reduces profitability. This research supports applying the green concept in the banking sector to improve sustainable bank performance.

This must be reduced through the conversion of activities in the community through an economic value approach and business management. This community service program seeks to provide public awareness of dongkel cultural activities which tend to be passive in terms of social and environmental economic values. The first step in implementing this program is giving education about the dangers of depletion for socio-economic life and the environment. Second, by encouraging the community in the RW 004 area of Madyapuro District to initiate the conversion of dongkel activities into cultivating plants with high economic value, namely bonsai.
