Abstract

Rice is a strategic food commodity whose production and productivity need to be increased to maintain the nation's food security.Seeds are one of the production inputs that have a significant contribution to the level of productivity. Therefore, various problems related to rice seed production must be addressed immediately. Problems related to fertilization can be solved by the application of organic fertilizer technology KoHeA +MF (organic fertilizer technology of chicken manure with bioactivator MOL banana poultry),this technology is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technology. The research was conducted on the experimental land of the Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic, in June - October 2023.The research design was factorial arranged in a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 3 replications. The first factor is the level of artificial fertilizer, namely A1: 0% NPK, A2: 25% NPK, A3: 50% NPK, A4: 75% NPK, A5: 100% NPK. The second factor is the dose of KoHeA+MF, D1: 0 tons ha-1; D2: 5 tons ha-1; D3: 10 tons ha-1, D4: 15 tons ha-1, D5: 20 tons ha-1 and D6: 25 tons ha-1.The experimental unit consisted of 90 experimental units. Data analysis using STAT program and DNMRT further test at 5% level. The results showed that the overall application of KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer and NPK inorganic fertilizer had a good effect on the growth and production of rice seeds. At the time of generative growth, KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer support the highest increase in the number of tillers at a dose of 10 tons ha-1 KoHeA+MF and 100 kg ha-1NPK

Abstract

The quality of organic fertilizer produced from the composting process depends on the basic ingredients used and the length of time for composting. The quality of organic fertilizer that meets the standards will affect soil fertility and plant growth. The aim of this research was to see the effect of the length of composting time on the nutrient content of KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer.. The length of composting time is 7, 14 and 21 days. The parameters observed included pH, C-organic, N-total, P2O5, K2O, Mg-total, Ca-total and CEC. The results obtained at 21 days the content of C-organic, N-total, P2O5 and CEC was higher compared to 7 and 14 days. In general, the length of composting time does not really affect the nutrient content of the KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer produced. At 7 days composting time has met the quality standards of organic fertilizers that can be used to improve soil fertility and increase crop production.

Abstract

Corn is one of the important food commodities after rice and wheat. Corn acts as a food, feed, and industrial ingredient. The need for corn in Limapuluh Kota Regency is very high along with the development of chicken farming businesses that require corn as the largest feed mixture. However, the need for corn has not been met by corn production in this Regency. The low corn production is more due to the low supply and use of superior corn seeds, as well as low soil fertility. One effort to increase soil fertility is the use of KoHeA+MF compost. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the production of KoHeA+MF hybrid seeds is impacted by the dosage of KoHeA+MF compost and the quantity of inorganic fertilizer that can be substituted. The study was conducted from May to September 2024 at the seed production land of PT. AZUMA Situjuah, Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments, including: 100% inorganic fertilizer (Control), 75% inorganic fertilizer + 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF, 50% inorganic fertilizer + 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF, 25% inorganic fertilizer + 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF, and 0% inorganic fertilizer + 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF.The application of various doses of inorganic fertilizer combined with 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF affected soil fertility, especially the increase in soil pH (H2O), organic C, total N, P2O5, K2O, and soil Ca. The application of inorganic fertilizer + 10 tons/ha KoHeA+MF significantly affected vegetative growth, yield components and corn kernel production of JH37 corn. The optimal dosage for dry corn kernel production is 10 tons/ha of KoHeA+MF and 75% inorganic fertilizer.

Abstract

Rice is a primary commodity in the national food security system; however, challenges such as low seed quality and the use of environmentally unfriendly chemical fertilizers continue to limit productivity. This study aims to evaluate the seed quality of Junjuang rice, a superior local variety from West Sumatra, cultivated using the organic fertilizer KoHeA+MF (a combination of chicken manure and banana corm MOL). The research was conducted descriptively at the Seed Technology and Plant Propagation Laboratory, Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh, over a two-month period (January–February 2024). Seed quality parameters analyzed included 1000-grain weight, moisture content, seed purity, and germination rate. The results showed that Junjuang rice seeds had a 1000-grain weight of 18.776 grams, purity of 96.08%, germination rate of 98.2%, and an average moisture content of 13.08%, all within the acceptable range of national seed quality standards. The application of KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer significantly contributed to the improvement of both physical and physiological seed qualities, through enhanced soil conditions and nutrient availability for the mother plants. These findings indicate that the use of KoHeA+MF organic fertilizer can serve as an effective strategy for improving the quality of local rice varieties and supporting sustainable agriculture in the region.
