Abstract

Abstract

Exporting Islamic moderation in Indonesia to the World is a big work that requires a mature strategy and readiness. Thus, the importing world can replicate Islamic moderation in Indonesia with the various formulations offered. Social fiqh can be bargained to formulate the strategy of exporting Islamic moderation. Social Fiqh ideas by Kiai Sahal Mahfudz have a strong concept and established epistemology and continue to prioritize moderation (wasathiyyah) which the study still adheres to authenticity (al-Ashlaah) and accommodates modernity (al-Hadathah). The proximity of Muslims in the Middle East to Islamic text is an opportunity for the development of social jurisprudence in an effort to export Islamic Moderation. This study aims to formulate a strategy for exporting religious moderation through the Social Fiqh Approach, the idea of Kiai Sahal, with a grounded theory approach and is qualitative in the method. This study shows that there are four formulations to make Social Fiqh a bargaining power; first, Middle Eastern students are awarded scholarships to study social fiqh and its implementation in Indonesia at Parent Universities such as STAIMAFA and universities that focus on social fiqh studies. Second, methodological studies of social fiqh are enriched through translation into foreign languages, scientific studies, and international conferences as bargaining for Islamic moderation in Indonesia. Third, conducting multitrack diplomacy towards Middle Eastern countries that there is an Indonesian-style fiqh methodology whose implementation can be adapted to the socio-political conditions in the importing country. Fourth, the development of social jurisprudence into civilization fiqh through multidisciplinary studies, so that various phenomena can be analyzed.

Abstract

In the multicultural community of Dorok Hamlet, the Grebek Suro tradition, conducted under the Beringin Mbah Agung tree (a sacred site), serves as a significant symbol in strengthening interfaith harmony and ecological awareness. This study aims to deeply examine how the Grebek Suro tradition functions as a form of education and reinforcement for social harmony among religious communities while fostering ecological consciousness. This research is qualitative in nature, employing a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the Grebek Suro tradition not only possesses spiritual dimensions but also conveys messages about ecological responsibility. Practices of tolerance and mutual cooperation within this tradition affirm principles of mutual respect and collaboration, which are central to Islamic teachings. The practice of venerating the tree also fosters ecological awareness, promoting coexistence with, and care for, nature. Meanwhile, the practice of collective prayer led by three religious leaders (Christian, Catholic, and Muslim) teaches principles of equality and mutual respect, which are also core values in Islamic teachings. Thus, this study explores the role of local traditions in cultivating values of tolerance and ecological awareness, as well as their contribution to social harmony in Dorok Hamlet.

Abstract

The modern ecological crisis, characterised by the exploitation of natural resources and social inequality, has placed women as the most vulnerable group, economically, health-wise, and socially. In this context, this study offers a Sufi-ecofeminist hermeneutic approach as an alternative to a more holistic reading of the Qur'an. Its theoretical foundation integrates Sachiko Murata's Sufi gender cosmology, which emphasises cosmic balance between masculinity and femininity, with Karen Warren's ecofeminist critique that rejects essentialism and highlights patriarchy, capitalism, and colonialism as the roots of oppression against nature and women. The research method uses qualitative analysis based on literature studies, with the main sources being verses from the Qur'an, classical ishari interpretations, and contemporary ecofeminist works. The results show that the integration of Murata and Warren produces a non-essentialist interpretive framework that rejects hierarchy, affirms humans as guardians of cosmic balance, and places ecological concern as part of Islamic spirituality. In conclusion, the Sufi-ecofeminist approach opens up a more inclusive and transformative space for Qur'anic interpretation. As a result, this research not only enriches the discourse on Islamic interpretation and philosophy but also contributes practically to education, da'wah, and ecological policies that are gender-equitable and sustainability-oriented.
