Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research focuses on independent character in mathematics subjects among fourth-grade students at SDN Kemijen 03 Semarang. This research aims to understand how independent character is developed in fourth-grade students, particularly in mathematics. The subjects in this study are the fourth-grade students and teachers. This research is classified as qualitative research using a case study approach. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model with four stages, namely data collection such as observation and interviews, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. With triangulation, researchers can test the validity of the data. The results obtained by the researcher indicate that the fourth-grade students exhibit good independent character in mathematics learning in the classroom. The statement is consistent with the results of an interview with the class teacher, who conveyed that most students have already applied independent character during classroom learning. That happened because the teacher had already instilled character in the learning process. The teacher seems to have already implemented contextual, cooperative, and problem-based learning strategies. In addition, the teacher also trains the students to be confident in their abilities. It can be concluded that the role of teachers is very important in instilling independent character in students. The efforts made by the teacher have shown that 80% have been successful in instilling independent character in the students, which is why the fourth-grade students have quite a good independent character.  Keyword: Learning Independence, Mathematical Ability, Development of Independence

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menguji efektivitas media etnomatematika dalam meningkatkan sinergi penalaran matematis dan literasi finansial siswa kelas V sekolah dasar pada konteks aritmatika sosial. Menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) model 4D yang diintegrasikan dengan Quasi-Experimental Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, penelitian melibatkan 120 siswa di dua sekolah dasar di Semarang. Media dikembangkan melalui tahap Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate, dengan validasi ahli menghasilkan indeks Aiken's V sebesar 0,87 (sangat valid) dan instrumen uji memiliki reliabilitas Cronbach Alpha > 0,81. Hasil analisis ANCOVA dan MANCOVA menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan media etnomatematika mengalami peningkatan penalaran matematis (F(1,117) = 45,23, p < 0,001, η² = 0,28) dan literasi finansial (F(1,117) = 52,67, p < 0,001, η² = 0,31) yang secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. N-Gain juga menunjukkan peningkatan yang sedang-tinggi (0,68) hingga tinggi (0,72) pada kelompok eksperimen. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa media etnomatematika efektif dalam membangun fondasi penalaran matematis dan literasi finansial yang kuat melalui pendekatan kontekstual dan budaya, dengan kontribusi teoritis pada konsep "Etnomatematika Finansial Sosial" dan implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan kurikulum serta pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.Kata Kunci: Penalaran Matematis, Literasi Finansial, Etnomatematika, Aritmatika Sosial

Abstract

The low interest in entrepreneurship among vocational high school students is often caused by overly theoretical learning and a lack of real practical experience. This community service activity aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit and improve the practical skills of grade X students at SMK PGRI 1 Salatiga through an intensive three-day training program. The implementation method uses an experiential learning approach consisting of three main stages: (1) internalization of the entrepreneurial mindset and introduction of the Business Model Canvas (BMC), (2) production preparation and marketing strategy, and (3) implementation through a buying and selling simulation (Market Day). Evaluation instruments used include pre-tests, post-tests, and direct observation during trading practices. The results of the activity show a significant increase in students' entrepreneurial literacy, as evidenced by an increase in the average score from 55 to 82. All student groups successfully produced product prototypes and conducted real transactions during the Market Day activity with sales success rates reaching the specified targets. Constraints found included limited production time and low initial student confidence, but these were overcome through intensive mentoring. The conclusion of this activity is that practical-based learning methods are effective in transforming students' mindsets from job seekers to opportunity creators.

Abstract

In the era of globalisation and digital transformation, elementary education faces challenges in preserving local cultural values within technology-based learning environments. Digital learning media often emphasise globalised content, limiting culturally grounded learning experiences. Meanwhile, Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) have become a core objective of 21st-century education, yet empirically validated media integrating Indonesian cultural diversity with HOTS development remain scarce. This study aims to develop and evaluate KEBAYA (Digital Comics on Indonesian Cultural Diversity), a culture-based digital comic designed to enhance students’ HOTS through interactive narratives. Using a research and development approach with the ADDIE model, the study involved needs analysis, product design aligned with curriculum and cultural values, development using the Canva application, expert validation, and field trials with elementary students. Effectiveness was assessed through HOTS-oriented tests and response questionnaires. The results show that KEBAYA is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ HOTS, particularly analysis, evaluation, and creative thinking, offering a scalable model for culturally responsive digital learning. This study contributes to culturally responsive digital pedagogy and provides a scalable learning medium for elementary education.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya capaian hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi keanekaragaman budaya Indonesia yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan media pembelajaran yang kurang variatif dan masih berpusat pada guru. Sebanyak 62% peserta didik belum mencapai KKM dan tingkat partisipasi dalam pembelajaran tergolong rendah. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan pendampingan pemanfaatan komik digital sebagai media pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan menarik. Pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dalam dua siklus kepada 29 peserta didik kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Kota Semarang yang bekerja sama dengan guru kelas. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi aktivitas peserta didik, angket respons, serta analisis hasil tes pada setiap siklus. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan ketuntasan belajar dari 38% menjadi 83%, dengan rata-rata nilai meningkat dari 68 menjadi 82. Partisipasi aktif peserta didik juga meningkat dari 52% menjadi 90%. Komik digital efektif meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan kolaboratif peserta didik.Abstract: This community service program was initiated due to low student achievement in learning Indonesian cultural diversity, mainly caused by the use of conventional and teacher-centred instructional media. A total of 62% of students did not achieve the minimum mastery criteria, and classroom participation was limited. The program aimed to provide instructional assistance through the use of digital comics to create a more engaging and interactive learning environment. The activity was implemented using Classroom Action Research in two cycles, involving 29 fifth-grade students from an elementary school in Semarang City, in collaboration with the classroom teacher. Evaluation was conducted through observation of student engagement, response questionnaires, and analysis of test results in each cycle. The findings indicated an increase in learning mastery from 38% to 83%, with the average score rising from 68 to 82. Student participation also improved from 52% to 90%. Digital comics effectively enhanced both cognitive achievement and collaborative skills in elementary education.
