Abstract

Agility of science and technology in communication has brought a new dimension of information dissemination, which may have influenced human perceptions, especially on the dissemination of news pertaining to this pandemic. This research aims to determine the students’ sources of information regarding the COVID-19 disease and investigate their intention to share the information pertaining to COVID-19. A survey study was designed using an online questionnaire involving 147 higher education students. The online questionnaire; measures three elements of the students’ intention, namely initiative, desire and resourcefulness. The findings; the sources of information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic are mainly the government authorities and local healthcare workers. The most preferred medium of information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic is social media, and the most trusted medium is the television broadcast. Also, finding suggests that the students take initiative to verify information and demonstrate a desire to share credible and right information with their family and friends through social media. As such, in an effort or attempt to disseminate credible information about any important matters to the general public, the government can count on students as agents for transmitting the information to third parties including their family and friends.

Abstract

Previous studies reported that disciplinary problems that occur amongst school students from teacher perspective; while some studies reported that this problem becomes increasingly serious and widespread, but both retract students from learning. Henceforth, this survey was conducted to investigate how far the problem occurred among vocational college students especially catering students. An interview session was conducted with several catering teachers in two vocational colleges in Southern Region of Malaysia, which focuses on three types of problems namely bullying, truancy and stealing. Data were analysed using thematic analysis using deductive approach. Result indicated that these discipline problems occur among catering students is at alarming level. Peers and students’ background contributed to students’ misdemeanours. Thus, these factors can be a starting point for further mitigating the cases and more focuses should be given on students’ learning. Corresponding author: Alias MasekDOI: 10.24071/ijiet.2020.040205

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to verify the constructs of facilitator skill for a group learning in Design and Technology subjects in secondary schools. The method used descriptive quantitative method. This study covers several tests such as content validity, construct validity, pilot studies and internal reliability test. Sample value that involved in this study was 273. The instrument is based on Heron’s Model (2006) which involves constructs and elements in facilitator skills. The results show that the high mode of facilitation is the hierarchical mode with mean value 4.32. Followed by cooperative (4.14) and autonomous mode (3.96). This is because the facilitator still determines the objectives, learning process, interprets and gives meaning, provide structure and take full responsibility for the decisions making in learning process.

Abstract

This study implements the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control (HIRADC) method to evaluate and mitigate occupational risks in the manufacturing construction sector. A bibliometric analysis reveals a growing yet insufficient number of studies applying structured risk control frameworks like HIRADC in industrial settings, particularly in developing countries. Using a descriptive approach, data were collected through field observations, interviews, and document analysis. Seven hazards were identified, resulting in five low-risk and two moderate-risk classifications using a probability–severity matrix. Control measures were implemented following ISO 45001:2018 standards, including engineering controls, administrative actions, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The results demonstrate that HIRADC enhances workplace safety awareness and reduces risk levels. This study contributes a practical safety framework for manufacturing environments while reinforcing the relevance of SDG-aligned and bibliometrically justified research in occupational health.
