Abstract

The big earthquake has an impact on the risk of injury to the victims. The wounded victim needed urgent medical assistance to survive. The effectiveness of this service depends heavily on the response speed of stakeholders. To increase the response rate, a detailed emergency response plan is needed. The study aims to identify restrictive factors in evacuating victims of post-earthquake injuries. This qualitative research has a phenomenological design. Participants in this study were 15 nurses who participated in the Disaster Victim Evacuation (DVE) process and who met the criteria with the purposive sampling technique. Data is collected through a deep interview (IDI) using open questions. Data analysis is done using the inductive content analysis method. Two themes contributed to the DVE process as an ERP, namely, 1) restriction of institutional support and 2) cancellation of evacuation routes. These findings have provided an overview of several factors that directly contributed to the implementation of the DVE process.

Abstract

Medical treatment of severe blood loss during labor is crucial, and the early warning indicator of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is essential for labor medical treatment. Measurement of blood loss conventionally looks dirty, reluctant, and less hygienic since some of the blood might be spilled out in the maternity bed, while commercially existing pads have low blood absorption capacity. A new design composite pad composed of absorbent materials including cellulose rayon, super absorbent polymer (SAP), and zeolite was fabricated and characterized. The SAP and zeolite show properties as crystalline and amorphous materials, respectively. The surface area of natural zeolite was 19.79 (m2/g). The newly fabricated composite pad showed a high blood absorption capacity (>500–600 mL) with a blood absorption rate of 55.56–85.84 mL/min (depending on the blood volume), showing better performance as compared to the commercial pads. These characteristics suggest that the new composite pad could function not only as a sanitary pad but also as an early warning indicator for PPH if the rate and blood volume reach the dangerous category (≥600 mL or at ≥13 mL/min rate).

Abstract

The absence of worksheets that can encourage students' entrepreneurial spirit and promote the process of activity is one of the difficulties in implementing STEM education. The purpose of this study is to provide Student Worksheets (LKPD) for menu card projects that include details on the nutritional value of fruit and are based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The research and development technique is used in this study. The analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases are all included in the ADDIE development framework. Nevertheless, this article is restricted to the stage of development. A needs analysis questionnaire and a LKPD product quality assessment sheet were used as instruments for data collection. The findings demonstrated that the average scores for the expert validity evaluation of LKPD for face validity and content validity were 92.5% and 90%, respectively. With a very valid category, the overall validation result for the STEM-based LKPD combined with entrepreneurship is 91.25%. Consequently, experiments can be conducted using the created LKPD.

Abstract

Challenges in mastering chemistry content among pre-service chemistry teachers remain a critical concern in teacher education institutions. This study aims to analyze the most difficult concepts and the underlying conditions contributing to students' failure in mastering specific chemistry courses. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. The research began by identifying courses with the highest proportion of failing grades (≤ D) based on academic transcripts from 235 students across four cohorts in a chemistry education program. Organic Chemistry I was identified as the course with the highest failure rate, affecting 141 students. From this group, ten students from each cohort with a GPA ≥ 3.0 were randomly selected to complete a questionnaire identifying the most difficult topics in the course. In-depth interviews with students and lecturers were then conducted to explore the conceptual difficulties and their possible causes. Findings consistently revealed that Organic Chemistry I had the highest proportion of D grades (10%) compared to other courses, with more than 60% of students in each cohort receiving low grades. Students reported that the Newman projection was the most challenging topic, citing both the abstract nature of the concept, which requires spatial reasoning and mental rotation of molecular structures, and the lack of effective instructional strategies to support understanding. These results highlight the need for pedagogical innovations targeting spatial visualization skills to enhance conceptual comprehension in organic chemistry education.

Abstract

Physics concept application is widely applied in daily life but students have a lack of knowledgeconcerning the concept of physics application. This research aimed to examine the motivation and skills of the scientific process through learning the concept of multimedia-based physics applications. This is experimental research, conducted on Year IX students of Islamic Senior High School. Samples were taken with purposive sampling techniques and divided into two groups of Mastery Learning Scores (MLS), MLS ≥ 70 and MLS< 70. Data were collected from Pre-test and post-test. The motivational data was presented through the category table, while the science process skills were analyzed using the Independent sample t-test. After the treatment, the initial motivation of the MLS class ≥ 70 was increased from 66.1% to 81.9%, while it was from 63% to 82.5% for the MLS class< 70. Besides, the final science process skillswere significantly different between the two classes, indicating byt count >t table 2.14 > 1.65. This study suggested that learning concepts of multimedia-based physics applications can improve student motivation in both classes, while the science process skills only affect the students of the MLS group ≥ 70.

Abstract

Bland learning is one of the causes of students' inability to explore freely by prioritizing self-regulated in each learning process. The POGIL model is an approach that makes students free to explore every step of the learning process with the teacher serving as a helpful facilitator. This research aims to look at the correlation between increased self-regulated and conceptual understanding in colloidal material with the POGIL model. The increase that occurs does affect each other. The results in this study experienced an increase in conceptual understanding, with a mean of 70.09 in the experimental group and 51.21 in the control group. At the same time, the increase in the value of students' self-regulated was 84.59 in the in the experimental group and 72.37 in the control group. Pearson product-moment correlation analysis was obtained at -0.243. This study concludes that learning using the POGIL model effectively increases learning self-regulated and conceptual understanding. The correlation of these two variables is interpreted as a negative correlation or an indirect relationship (inverse).
