Abstract

The Community Learning Activity Centre (Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat/PKBM) is a non-formal educational institution that provides a 12-year basic education equivalent. PKBM X in Jakarta has students with special educational needs. As an inclusive PKBM, teachers are expected to have knowledge about students with special educational needs (PDBK). Learning at PKBM X is reportedly suboptimal due to a lack of teacher knowledge about PDBK. Therefore, it is important to assess the basic knowledge that PKBM X teachers have about PDBK. The teacher knowledge measured in this study is based on knowledge and basic-level cognitive processes in Bloom's Taxonomy. This descriptive quantitative study involved 58 teachers from ten PKBM X branches in Indonesia. The measuring instrument is a questionnaire about teachers' knowledge. The results showed that 55.17% of teachers had insufficient knowledge, 31.03% had sufficient knowledge and just 13.79% had a good grasp of the subject. This insufficient knowledge was mainly related to strategies for handling PDBK, with an average score of 48.85%. The same applies to the application domain in Bloom's Taxonomy, where the average knowledge is 51.47%. It is suspected that the PKBM X teachers' lack of knowledge stems from inadequate training in PDBK.

Abstract

SDN 3 Karawaci Tangerang is one of the schools designated as an inclusive school. Based on the results of theneeds analysis conducted using observation, study of school documents, interviews, and FGDs with teachers, principals, education personnel, students, and parents, it was found that one of the main challenges at SDNKarawaci 3 is the unpreparedness in accommodating the needs of students with disabilities in inclusive schools. Thismain problem is caused by dif iculties in identifying students with disabilities in the classroom, teachers' lack ofcompetence in teaching students with disabilities, inadequate facilities to accommodate students with disabilities, inef ective communication within the school ecosystem and a lack of discipline consistently applied by the school..The training program provided aims to improve teachers' competence in teaching in inclusive schools, with thetheme "Introduction to Characteristics, How to Communicate, and Learning Programs for Students with SpecialNeeds".. The implementation of this training consists of three main sessions, namely Session I discusses thecharacteristics of students with disabilities in inclusive schools, Session II discusses ef ective communicationstrategies between teachers and the school ecosystem, and Session III discusses how to prepare an IndividualLearning Program (IEP). The training evaluation was reviewed from two aspects, namely evaluation of trainingactivities and evaluation of the achievement of objectives. In evaluating the achievement of objectives, the facilitatorteam looked at the achievement of objectives for each session based on participants' responses during discussionsand the pre-test and post-test results. As a result, some participants experienced an increase in the average score onthe post-test in each session, although the results were not significant. Abstract

This study explores fifth-semester preservice English students’ experiences in using English songs as a resource for vocabulary learning. Although previous studies have highlighted the benefits of songs, limited research has examined how learners use them independently in daily life. This qualitative descriptive case study involved ten fifth-semester students from the English Language Education Department at UIN Walisongo Semarang in 2025 who regularly engaged with English songs as part of their informal learning. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal three main themes: (1) vocabulary learning strategies, such as repeated listening, lyric checking, translation use, contextual guessing, and limited note-taking; (2) perceived benefits, including stronger motivation, improved retention through melody, better pronunciation, enhanced listening skills, and exposure to colloquial expressions; and (3) challenges, such as fast-paced lyrics, figurative language, slang, reduced focus, and non-standard grammar. Overall, English songs function as an enjoyable supplementary tool that supports vocabulary development, although additional strategies may be needed to maximize their effectiveness.
