Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the use of Problem Based Learning Methods in the structure of negotiation texts for class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok for the 2022-2023 academic year. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research informants consisted of: 36 class X SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok students and one teacher. The data analysis techniques used start from reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of data analysis found that from the conceptual understanding of data I, there were only 16 students who did not complete. Student learning mastery in data I has an average score of 65.38 with a percentage of 70.22% in the "High" category. Furthermore, the conceptual understanding of data II brings out the complete learning outcomes of all students in data II which has an average value of 95.97 with a percentage of 100% in the "Very High" category. A comparison of the two learning methods can be a positive contribution in developing the learning process in the classroom, especially in conceptual understanding of the structure of negotiation texts. Keywords: Use, Problem Based Learning Method, Conceptual Understanding, Structure, Negotiation Text.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the effect of using audio visual media on the poetry writing skills of class VIII MTs students. Muhammadiyah 22 Padangsidimpuan Academic Year 2024-2025. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were all students in class VIII MTs. Muhammadiyah 22 Padangsidimpuan has 72 students, consisting of 24 students in class VIII-A, 24 students in VIII-B, and 24 students in VIII-C. The research sample used was from class VIII-C, totaling 24 students. The data collection technique uses a multiple choice test consisting of 10 questions and 5 description questions. The research results show differences in the average values for variables X and Y. The average value for variable X is 78.75, while the value for the test results for variable Y is 86.25. These results show that there is a significant influence from the use of audio-visual media on poetry writing skills, in other words Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Keywords: Audiovisual, Writing, Poetry.

Abstract

AbstractThis study discusses about the using of tenses in English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk translated by Dr. Mustafa Khattab. This research is conducted by qualitative data analysis. The data of this study are clauses that contained tenses which are found in English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk translated by Dr. Mustafa Khattab. The source of data in this study is website addressed https://quran.com/al-mulk. The data are collected by using documentary technique, particularly in content analysis. The data are transcribed into clauses and analyzed through the using of tenses. In analyzing the data, the researcher applied interactive model of Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014:33). The findings of the study found the using of tense in English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk, they are involved Simple Present is the higher result which reaches 56 %, simple future tense occurs for 18 %, simple past tense occurs for 14%. The other supported tenses found are present perfect tense which almost occurs for 4 occurances or it has 4%, past future perfect is written for twice or 2 %, and past perfect tense is the lower result found in which occurs for merely once or 1 %. There are 6 clauses which do not apply the using of tenses since some are represented as expression, the using of modals, or the translator does not follow the formulation of any tense or in another words a mistaken form of tense.Keywords: Tenses, Translation, Al-Quran, Al-Mulk.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the understanding and skills of students in the third semester of the FKIP UM Tapsel English Education Study Program in choosing and implementing effective learning strategies. Using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, this research was conducted in three cycles, with each cycle focusing on different learning strategies, such as cooperative, problem-based, and project-based learning. The subjects of the study were 30 students enrolled in the English language learning strategy course. The results of the study show that in the first cycle, students understand the basic theory of learning strategies, but have difficulty connecting them with practice. In the second cycle, 70% of students successfully implemented problem-based strategies, and 60% were able to manage classes effectively. In the third cycle, the use of project-based learning improved the skills of 85% of students in designing and implementing

Abstract

This study is entitled "Language Politeness of Indonesian Language Education Study Program Studentst hrough Whatsapp Social Media." This study aims to describe the language politeness of students and language violations when communicating with lecturers via short messages or WhatsApp chat. This research method use qualitative descriptive method. The subjects used in this study were students in semesters II, IV, and VI of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Science and Teacher Training, Muhammadiyah University of South Tapanuli with atotal of 93 students. The data collection technique used in this study is the listening method followed by basic tapping techniques, advanced techniques, free listening techniques, classification and identification techniques. The listening method is carried out by listening, namely listening to the use of language contained in conversations between students and lecturers via WhatsApp media. The results of the study show that the level of language politeness of students when communicating with lecturers via WhatsApp chat media is obtained from50 data consisting of 36 compliance with language politeness and 14 violations of language politeness. The level of language politeness of students in the Indonesian Language Education Study Programat UMTS is stated to be politewitha percentage of compliance with language politeness of 72% and violations of language politeness of 28%.
