Abstract

To understand tourist behavior and the factors influencing it, a thorough analysis of transportation mode choice and trip chain is required, especially from the tourists' perspective. Therefore, this study aims to model transportation mode choice and trip chain in the Bira Peninsula, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. To achieve this, a quantitative method was employed with a sample size of 500 tourists. The study results show that independent variables significantly impact dependent variables, such as individual characteristics, movement characteristics, destination attributes, mode choice attributes, and trip chains. Several indicators showed a significant influence for transportation mode choice with a confidence level of over 85%. These indicators include age, income, origin location, destination location, number of visits, group size, flexibility, facilities, ease of access, activity type, cost, distance, time, and safety. Similarly, the analysis identified several key indicators affecting the trip chain, with a significance level above 85%. These indicators include age, income, origin, destination location, estimated arrival time, number of visits, flexibility, and destination attraction. Other indicators include facilities, ease of access, trip purpose, activity type, travel time, distance from the city center to the tourist destination, cost, distance, time, and safety. Two significant indicators found as differentiators from previous research are flexibility and type of activity. The study demonstrated high accuracy for the mode choice model and the trip chain model, with validity rates of 98.40% and 97.65%, respectively. The findings indicate that the model accurately captures the factors influencing transportation mode choice and trip chains, making it a valuable reference for future explorations to improve transportation systems' efficiency and comfort. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2025-011-02-017 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

To carry out daily activities and fulfill needs requires movement. In carrying out these movement, there are two choice, namely moving with transportation modes or without transportation modes (walking). This study aims to knowing the factors that influence the choice of private and public transportation modes as well as modeling the choice of commuter transportation modes.  Focus of this study is Bulukumba regency that one of the regencies in the southern part of South Sulawesi. The transportation characteristics discussed are the characteristics of the trip (the purpose of he trip, time and distance), characteristics of behaviour travellers (mode selection and reasons for choosing the mode) and characteristics of transportation facilities (Quantitatively involves: waiting time, time for access to other modes and tariffs. Qualitatively involves: safety, comfort and trust). The result of the analysis obtained information that the dominant mode of transportation is used by commuter in Bulukumba regency are private motor vehicles. The tendency of the people of Bulukumba regency to use motorbikes is assessed because motorbikes have a high level of comfort and trust, cheap tariff, flexible schedule, easy access, quickly reach travel destinations and efficiency in use compared to private cars or public transportation modes.  The R2 value of the private motorbike mode selection model is 0.765 meaning that the education and work variables affect the motorbike mode selection by 76.5% and the rest is influenced by other variables. The model for selection public transportation modes has an R2 value of 0.666, meaning that the tourism and trade variables affect the choice of the public transportation modes by 66.6% and the rest is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Paving block is a building material composition made up of a mixture of portland cement or other hydraulic adhesives, water and aggregates with or without other additives that do not reduce the quality of the concrete (SNI 03-0691-1996). Paving block is a type of precast concrete product. This activity tries to provide information on the importance of adequate infrastructure and an introduction to how make paving block starting from choosing raw materials to make molds to choosing maerials for making concrete block (paving block) to support the accessibility of local people’s or can be used as a place to find income if anyone is interested in starting this material procurement business. Health protocols as a result, the antusiasme of the community who took part in this counseling was very positive, as seen from the many questions and curiosity of the extention participants regarding the materials and tools that would be used if they want to open a community based home based business/industry. For this long periode of time, it is hope that there will be support from the local government so that this activity can be carried out again by involving more people (after the corona pandemic subsides).
