Abstract

This article is aimed to study the discussionsbetween the quranic scholars, especially on the polemic of the factuality of the story of the Koran. This polemic comes as a result of the use of the literary method in the study of the story of the Koran, especially after Muhammad Ahmad Khalafullah releases his study under title al-Fann al-Qaṣaṣi fi al-Qurani al-Karīm. The Author uses the dialectical method by describing imaginary discussions among the quranic scholars in two case examples, namely the story of Ukhti Harun and Haman. The results of the author's study show that the reviewers of the story of the Koran are divided into two parts, namely believing in the factuality and historicity of the story of the Koran while others reject the factuality and historicity of the story of the Koran and only acknowledge the moral value in the story.

Abstract

This article examines the challenges of academics in dealing with the general public to describe concrete steps in their need for the hadith of the Prophet. Society is not only faced with the statuses of hadith, but also issues of understanding, search, books and so on. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to try to see a simple design in studying and practicing hadith so as to make it easier for the general public to interact with the hadith. Answering this question, this study uses a literature review with a discourse analysis approach. This study shows that an easy and practical step for the general public is to search for hadith through the application or web of a takhrīj service provider quickly and friendly to use. There needs to be a gesture of realization that the hadith narrated in general is not singular; both the pronunciation, the narration and the matan. The move can be implemented with i'tibār al-Sanad. Society also needs to emphasize the existence of a benchmark of hadith status that has been set by the muḥaddiṡīn; Both from the status of sanad and matan. The two points are inseparable because they are an integral part of the study of the Prophet's hadith.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the innovation of quranic after-memorizing through the mujāhadah program conducted by 49 students at the Institut Agama Islam Al-Quran Al-Ittifaqiah (IAIQI). The analysis used in this study is the analysis of the living Quran and social construction theory. The results showed that the mujāhadah program was an effort in maintaining memorization through three stages, namely mujāhadah ulā (confirmation), mujāhadah sāniah (fasting for 40 days), and mujāhadah sāliṡah (evaluation). The three stages are the legitimacy of giving the sanad which leads to three main chains, namely from the K.H. Nawawi Dencik, K.H. Magfur Ali, and K.H. Nawawi Abdul Aziz. This program is the result of externalizing the taḥfīẓ coaches at the Al-Ittifaqiah Islamic Boarding School as well as the leaders and teaching staff at IAIQI. The results of the externalization were institutionalized in the use of mujāhadah guidelines, IQT’s vision, and also the provision of scholarships for mujāhadah students. While internalization occurs in the process of absorbing the value of mujāhadah into the enjoyment of reading the Quran for the perpetrators, the desire of students to complete the three stages of mujāhadah, and the motivation of non-mujāhadah students to participate in memorizing the Quran.

Abstract

Peter Riddell and Salman Harun have conducted studies on the originality of Tafsīr Tarjumān al-Mustafīd. However, their study was based on a limited sample (the 16th and 30th juz), which resulted in the omission of several significant aspects. This study seeks to broaden the scope of research by employing a more comprehensive methodological approach, specifically textual criticism and comparative analysis. Textual criticism is used to assess the authenticity of the text, identify its primary reference sources, and evaluate the interpolations found within the work. Additionally, this study employs comparative analysis by juxtaposing Tarjumān al-Mustafīd with notable classical commentaries, including al-Jalālain, al-Baiḍāwī, and al-Khāzin. Furthermore, an analysis of colophons and variations in writing style is conducted to elucidate the role of each contributor. This study presents three key findings. First, both Riddell and Harun concur that this work is not a translation of al-Baiḍāwī but instead of al-Jalālain. This study aligns with Harun’s assertion that Tarjumān al-Mustafīd is an orally transmitted translation of al-Jalālain, supplemented with quotations from al-Khāzin and additional interpolations, particularly in the 29th and 30th juz, which were primarily influenced by Dāūd al-Rūmī. Secondly, this study reveals that Dāūd al-Rūmī played a crucial role in the preservation and textual modifications of the work, despite its attribution to ʿAbd al-Raʾūf. Third, the scholarly significance of Tarjumān al-Mustafīd  is demonstrated through its role as the first tafsīr in the archipelago to document diverse qirā’āt traditions, reflect the vernacularization of Malay culture, and serve as a vital Qur'ānic guide for the general Muslim populace in 17th-century Aceh.
