Abstract

Abstract : In the mid-19th century, orientalists began to conduct a lot of research on hadith. They tended to doubt and question the status of traditions in Islam and they even opposed the authenticity of the traditions. Some orientalists considered the hadith as a collection of anecdotes, so its authenticity could not be guaranteed. The orientalists also examined the time that the use of sanad of the Prophet's hadith began. They had different opinions about the beginning of the using of the sanad. Some orientalists stated that the sanad in the books of the hadith were only made by hadith experts in the second or third century of Hijriyah, meanwhile other orientalists stated that the use of sanad in narrating the hadith had been started since the end of the first century of Hijriyah. Most of the hadiths were considered to be false among the orientalists. Some orientalists considered the use of sanad initially as a simple form, and only developed into a perfect sanad in the middle of the 3rd century of Hijriyah. Hadith was considered a product of history, not as a theological belief, even orientalists considered the scholars of hadith experts and scholars of ra'yi to had made hadiths. Criticism of Jewish and Christian orientalist and missionaries towards the hadith greatly influenced Muslims thought. They published writings that were widely publicized, so that they could be read by Muslims. The orientalist thought eventually influenced Muslims thought, so the anti-Hadith movements emerged among Muslims. Keywords: Matan; Orientalist;Sanad

Abstract

In Islam, Hadith becomes the second guidelines after Al-Quran, therefore, Moslem had done a lot of efforts to keep its authenticity. At the beginning of Muhammad prophecy, there was no any Hadith coding as like Al-Quran. The existence of Hadith narration in Prophet Muhammad era was still debated because of the two contradictory Hadith riwayah. One of them indicated the prohibition for Hadith narration, and other directed its approval which led Hadith narration. Compared with ummi group, in Prophet Muhammad era, only few of Prophet Muhammad companions were able to write. In accepting the Hadith narration, the companions relied on the memorization than writing. The majority of Hadith Preachers assumed that, Hadith had been written by the companions when Prophet Muhammad was still alive. Whereas, the orientalist and some of modern Moslem experts mentioned that Hadith had not been written in Prophet Muhammad era. Some of the companions had their own Hadith writing, although there were any contradictory Hadith between prohibition and approval in Hadith writing. Only few companions who wrote Hadith, such as ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn ‘Al-Ash, allowed by Prophet Muhammad to write Hadith. Prophet Muhammad never instructed certain companion to write and compile Hadith as like Al-Quran which was officially written by Prophet Muhammad’s individual secretary, Zayd Ibn Tsabit. Whereas, the officially Hadith coding was started at Umar ibn ‘Abd al ‘Aziz era (99H – 101H).

Abstract

Research about Hadith authenticity becomes Orientalist’s preferred study. Joseph Schacht, one of orientalist researcher had researched and criticized Hadith authenticity. Schacht assumed that Sunnah was not formerly from Prophet Muhammad, but it was the continuity of Arabian traditions which were revised and done continuously by Moslem and hold up to Prophet Muhammad. Schacht assumed that Prophet’s sunnah had not been established surely to Hadith. Schacht’s research was started by studying Islam law establishment process. Then, he concluded that Islam law had not been existed until Al-Sya’bi era (110H). At Tabi’in era, there was Hadith which was not available at the previous one. Hadith in Tabi’in’s era was considered complete than companions’ version. Hadith at the next version was spread out by falsification. Schacht mentioned that Isnad was part of arbitrariness in Prophet Muhammad Hadith since it was developed by different groups who expected to relate it to the previous one. Sanad reconstruction formation based on Schacht’s opinion, namely by doing backward design, known as Projecting Back theory. Sanad Hadith common indicators showed that the longer period of people far from Prophet Muhammad era, the more people narrated Hadith. Schacht mentioned that the practice of sanad Hadith was started from the simple way, then it was developed and formed the perfect sanad at the second period of third century of Hijriyah.

Abstract

Muhammad Syahrur’s point of view about hadith and sunnah was very different from hadith preacher expert. Syahrur declared that hadith was Prophet Muhammad’s life as a prophet (messenger) and hadith was the result of his interaction with the certain events in the different situation when he was alive. Muhammad Syahrur positioned hadith and sunnah as the result of history product which happened in Prophet Muhammad’s life and did not accommodate law legitimation. Further, he mentioned some rejected hadith practices, although it was identified as hadith shahih, or written in Shahihain. In understanding hadith, Syahrur equalized hermeneutics to ta’wil. He also referred to linguistic method proposed by Abu ‘Ali al-Farisi, which was presented by Ibn Jinni and Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani, then inserted linguistic hermeneutics elements. Linguistic hermeneutics is the affirmation that every human language does not have synonym element. Then, every word might be disappeared throughout the history development, until create new utterance with the new meaning.

Abstract

Abstract

The defamation of women on social media has become an alarming phenomenon, given its potential to harm their dignity and honor. In Islam, preserving the honor of fellow Muslims is an obligation emphasized through the prohibition of ghibah (backbiting). This study aims to understand the phenomenon of defamation against women from the perspective of hadiths on ghibah. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, collecting data through library research on various books and hadith texts. The findings indicate that defamation against women on social media has a significant negative impact on their psychological well-being and social status. These findings align with the principles in the hadiths prohibiting ghibah, making them relevant references for addressing this issue in contemporary times. Ethical social media literacy and moral education programs are essential to reduce the practice of defamation.

Humans sometimes have feelings that change according to the situation and conditions they are facing. Every human being has different traits and attitudes, this is what causes a person to have various actions when controlling his emotions. One of the human beings who can be exemplified in responding to things calmly and patiently is Siti Hajar. When faced with a test, he tends to accept and live it as much as possible to the limit of his ability and always involve God in every effort. In Islam, it is called effort and tawakal. The purpose of this research is to provide a deeper understanding of efforts and tawakal, especially through hadith and how it is represented in the novel "Hajar Secrets of the Heart of the Queen of Zamzam". This study uses a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources include the book Saheeh Bukhari No. index 2074, Sunan Tirmidhi index No. 2344, as well as novels and other supporting literature. The result of this research is to be able to apply the meaning of effort and tawakal contained in the hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmidhi which is then associated with the story of Siti Hajar in the novel The Secret of the Heart of the Queen Zamzam, thus each individual can apply and emulate Siti Hajar's attitude in applying iktiar and tawakal in daily life.

Abstract

This research examines the application of morals as a preventive effort against violent behavior, especially among teenagers. The background of this research rests on the moral dilemma that is increasingly prominent, marked by the increasing cases of violence, bullying, and juvenile delinquency that reflect the degradation of moral values in social life. This study aims to explore the relevance of moral values taught in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad in shaping harmonious individual character and preventing violent behavior. The method used is qualitative research with a library research approach, referring to classical literature such as kutub al-Sittah and relevant modern books. The results showed that family, friendship, social, and individual emotional environment factors greatly contribute to violent behavior. However, the application of moral values derived from the hadith can be a preventive solution. In a personal context, good morals help individuals control their emotions and respond peacefully to conflict. In the family, morals support the creation of harmonious relationships, while in society, moral values encourage respectful interactions. In conclusion, the implementation of moral teachings in daily life has a significant impact in reducing cases of violence. This research emphasizes the importance of moral education from an early age to build a generation with morals and good character.
