Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of virgin coconut oil (VCO) produced by Tiga Kelepa in North Minahasa Regency. VCO made from fresh coconut is one of the essential oils that are widely used for health. This research was conducted from March until May 2018. This research used a description method from the product of the VCO manufacture by stimulating method then continued with quality analysis in the laboratory of PT. Sucofindo and compared with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) VCO quality. The results showed that the quality of "Vigin Coconut Oil (VCO)" "Tiga Kelapa" production in North Minahasa is better than the quality of Indonesian National Standards. The content of free fatty acids (FFA), water content, iodine number, color and aroma are suitable with SNI VCO. The composition of VCO fatty acids is dominated by Kaprilic Acid, Capric Acid, and Lauric Acid which are higher in content than SNI VCO. Abstract

Conventional agriculture relies on the use of artificial chemical fertilizer, such as urea,during every planting season, causing a decrease in soil fertility. Unfertile land has a negative effect on rice production, putting strain on farmers.A replacement or complement for chemical fertilizers needs to be found; other than the negative long-term effects, increased demand for urea in the planting season can make it hard to find when farmers need it most. An organic alternative is kirinyu (Chromolaena odorata) which has high concentrations of nitrogen and also phosphorous, potassium, and other micronutrients. Kirinyu grows abundantly around rural farms and plantations and makes up a lot of local biomass. The aims of this research are to 1) Assess the interaction of kirinyu organic fertilizer dosage and urea dosage towards the growth of rice (Oryza sativa L.), and 2) determine the most efficient dosage of kirinyu and urea fertilizer for the best growth in rice. The research used a randomized block factorial design. The treatments were:Factor I (A) = Dosage of kirinyu organic fertilizer. A1 = 10 tons/ha, A2 = 20 tons/ha. Factor II (B) = Dosage of urea fertilizer. B1 = 50 kg/ha, B2 = 100 kg/ha, B3 = 100 kg/ha. Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in 18 experiment plots. Variables observed were:height of plant and number of seedlings. Data was analyzed using analysis of variance and Least Significant Differences (LSD) at a test level of 5%. Results show that the combination of kirinyu organic fertilizer and urea fertilizer has a significant effect on plant height and number of rice seedlings.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the concentration of ZPT kinetin and coconut water on the growth and development of orchid shoots. This research was carried out at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sam Ratulangi University Manado from May to June 2023. This research used a factorial experiment in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 replications consisting of two factors. The first factor is Kinetin concentration; 1 mg/l (K1), 2 mg/l (K2) and 3 mg/l (K3) and the second factor is Coconut Water Composition; Coconut water 10% (A1), Coconut water 20% (A2), Coconut water 30% (A3) and Coconut water 40% (A4). Data were analyzed using ANOVA and if there was a significant effect, it was continued with the 5% BNT test. The variables observed were: shoot height, number of leaves, number of shoots, and wet weight. The results showed that there was a significant effect on the number of shoots on the single factor Kinetin while the others were not significantly different between the combination of Kinetin and coconut water on the growth and development of orchid shoots, namely on the variable height of shoots, number of shoots, number of leaves and percentage of wet weight of Dendrobium orchid shoots mirbelianum. Keywords: Orchid, Dendrobium mirbelianum, Kinetin, Coconut water, In vitro Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi penggunaan ZPT kinetin dan air kelapa terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tunas anggrek. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Bioteknologi, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sam Ratulangi Manado dari bulan Mei sampai Juni 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan percobaan faktorial dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 ulangan yang terdiri dari dua faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu konsentrasi Kinetin; 1 mg/l (K1), 2 mg/l (K2) dan 3 mg/l (K3) dan faktor kedua Komposisi Air Kelapa; Air kelapa 10% (A1), Air kelapa 20% (A2), Air kelapa 30% (A3) dan Air kelapa 40% (A4). Data dianalisis dengan ANOVA dan jika berpengaruh nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT 5 %. Variabel yang diamati adalah: tinggi tunas, jumlah daun, jumlah tunas, dan berat basah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah tunas pada faktor tunggal Kinetin sedangkan yang lain tidak berbeda nyata antara kombinasi kinetin dan air kelapa terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tunas anggrek yaitu pada variabel tinggi tunas, jumlah tunas, jumlah daun dan persentase berat basah tunas anggrek Dendrobium mirbelianum.
